quote:Is there anyway to get MC to output a status bar or percentage complete on a NC file generation.
Maybe in ver X??????
I had one a couple of months ago that took a while to create. I did check the task manager and it said not responding. Needless to say I stopped Mastercam thinking it locked up. That cost me a lot of time on the job, if I would have walked away and worked on something else, like I usually do, everything would have been fine. I ended up breaking the file in 3 pieces as it wouldn't fit in the Haas anyway.
Status bar would be nice
But patience is all I needed that day.

If you run the program again does it repeat?

Here is what I do so I can run dry at high RPM's, all it takes is a flexable tube and a wire tie, quick to add and remove. Then you can run the coolant and stay dry. Fasten the other end down or it will fly around on you.

3D models here from our main customers. The only prints are from someone with an idea that walks in the door, or pencil sketches, then we draw it up for them.

#85 is set at .005 here, never messed with it.

The smaller your Setting 85 is, the slower the machine will run. We leave ours set at .001 in the control, and then use G187 (a post misc setting in Mastercam) to set it at .0001 when we are finishing mold surfaces. With the HSM option we max out at 90-95 IPM with it set this tight, but we get excellent finishes when surfacing with a ball nose.
With it set at .001 we can run up around 150 (when roughing or semi-finishing).

I'll have to play with setting, thanks nomoslogos

look at surface problem 02
Got you a surface, but didn't take time to trim along bottom curve. You should be able to squash the lower line and trim the surface

quote:Well, thats not as pretty as I was hoping. I'd like to see the dia of my cutter as I drag it around. Guess it'll do.
You would have liked the Aura Cad feature. You could see the endmill dia. all you had to do was click the mouse and you get a series of overlapping circles following you mouse. Really fast and easy to use, kind of like a slinky affect.
-
A quick work-around I use is create, arc, pt dia, sketch and draw a few circles the size of your cutter, then connect CL points and use a contour tool path.

Aura cad cam had a feature like that, I liked using it to face off, or clean out an area quickly. Don't use Aura Cad Cam anymore.

You can lock the tool path if you want to stop the red X problem.
I did this on the last mold I was working on for the first time. I was cutting, programming, posting, cutting, programming, verifying, posting.................ect.

When I key ejec. pin heads I use contour ramp. A lot faster in my opinion.
