i have been using cimco edit/dnc version5 for about 4 years now, no complaints. i have two mills that it runs and have had no problems. irun rs232 cable to both, and drip feeding large programs simotaneously with ease. the editor is user friendly and has a backplot that is a great tool to use for reference checks, for your operators. it is worth the money in my opinion. hope it helps.
definetly use a tapping head and i have had success with dormer taps. if you get your dormer rep in you can also get him to give you their product selector cd which comes in handy lots of usefull info. for repetive tapping use their roll form taps with the proper tap drill size.
hope this helps.also dormer taps are not all that much money.

is there anyone out there that does metal engraving of stamps on a router or mill? i am in concord ontario canada. I was wondering how cost effective it would be for me to purchase the art package as compared to having an engraver do it on a pantograph?
