  1. Hi Bill, I use my local Phone/Internet providers "Telus Homesitter" service. It costs $15.00 per month and is usaully used to monitor your home/Nanny etc... but it works great to monitor our cnc machines. I use two wireless cameras, and a wireless router, I only wish I could view the Telus Homesitter website from my Palm Treo. Tim
  2. Hello All, I am having a new computer built to run Mastercam X2mr1 and Solidworks. My Computer guy has asked me to find out if anyone knows whether an Intel Core 2 Duo processor will work with MasterCam and SolidWorks. Also whether these two programs will run faster with a Core 2 Duo than a Pentium D processor? I know very little about this subject but will forward your responses to him. Thanks in Advance! Tim
  3. Hello all, I am using Mastercam X (with Maintenance) and find toolpath generation quite slow on large files with lots of toolpath. (P4 2.8 GHZ 1.0 GB of Ram). So I upgraded one computer to: Intel P4 D840 3.20GHz - 800MHz FSB 2MB Corsair VS2GBKIT667D2 2GB Kit 2x1GB DDR2 667Mhz Asus P5WD2 Premium S775 I955X Chipset 1066Mhz PCI-Ex16/3PCI/4DDRII w/Sound SATAII RAID GB-LAN IEEE 1394 USB 2.0 PNY Quadro FX1400 128MB PCI-E WD WD740GD 74.0GB 8MB SATA 10K rpm WD WD2500JS 250GB 8MB SATA II I found this new system with a dual core processor to be only about 10 percent faster at toolpath generation. According to the MasterCam website, MasterCam X supports multiprocessor. http://www.mastercam.com/Support/TechTips/...equirements.htm However,I have also been told that it does not support multiprocessors. Would two dual core processors speed things up? Are there any tricks or tips to get faster toolpath generation? Or do any of you have any recommendations to improve the system described above? I only know thiiis much about computers, so please type slowly (and use lower case), and I will forward your responses to the fellow that is building my computers. Thanks in advance! Tim
  4. Howdy All, I once saw part of a Mastercam X demonstration Video on the internet, and cannot seem to find it myself. Does anyone know where it is? Thanks Tim
  5. Lee How long have you been a Patternmaker/Programmer? Tim
  6. FZT has made my life alot easier, for me it is worth the price of maintenance. I also was not impressed when maintenance was brought in, but the FZT improvement has converted me! Tim
  7. Will X still use the Parasolid Kernel?
  8. I am using Surface finish contour and V 9.1 MR0304 Thanks for the help, using direction, I was able to increase the retract. Thanks Tim
  9. Howdy all, I am trying to use a lollipop tool to cut an undercut surface, and cannot see where to increase the horizontal retract it does, before it retracts vertically. By default it seems to just retract enough to barely clear the undercut, then retract vertically. I would be a little more comfortable if I could increase this. Thanks in advance, Tim
  10. Midwest Thank you, that worked! I had no idea that you could move the stop sign. The problem seemed to be that I drafted a face of a previous Extrude Cut, and the Extrude Cut would not regenerate. Still seems odd as the order of operations was not changed. Anyway, problem solved, Thanks again!
  11. Howdy All Appreciate all the help this forum has been to me over the last few years as I have learned Mastercam. Now I really need help! I have been modifying an imported solid (SAT), mostly by drafting faces so far. Suddenly the solid won't regen and I am positive that I have not deleted any geometry pertaining to the solid, as Draft Face does not require chains. The operations are all there in the Solid Manager, but I am unable to open the Parameters or Geometry for any of the Draft Faces or Extrude Cut operations.(Makes me think something has really gone wrong) Any help would be apreciated. Cheers Tim
  12. I put a couple of files in "Just for fun" folder, they are files I got from elsewhere on FTP. I cut about 40 of the one called Human head from exotic hardwoods. I give them to my many admirers, still have about 38 left! Tim
  13. It would be cool if there was a folder on the FTP site for cool models, artistic type stuff or cool parts, with no proprietary issues. Tim
  14. Wildcat/Anyone I can access the FTP site from home but not from work. Must be a security issue, both places use a router. Any suggestions? Tim
  15. Wildcat, I have pictures and documentation for 5-axis alignment, I will put the document on the FTP site tomorrow. Cheers Tim
  16. Thanks PM Guy! I just assumed that I am losing my mind,,,Your explanation is better! Tim
  17. Thanks Rekd, that is great! Why do you think it is only underlined sometimes? Tim
  18. I forgot to add I am using V9.1 SP2. It is kind of strange, I would say about 50% of the time there are underlined letters. Tim
  19. Howdy all I have noticed that sometimes there are shortcut keys underlined in my Operations Manager and sometimes not. However, they never work. It would be nice to use these shortcuts (B for backplot etc..). Are they supposed to work? Has anyone else noticed this or is it something I don't have configured correctly? Thanks in advance, I read this forum a few times a day and appreciate all the help! Tim
  20. So next time someone says to me "Tell the machine to cut this" It may actually work??!! I also love it when guys say "plug this drawing into your computer" Tim
  21. Howdy All The Standard Verification has been driving me nuts for a while now. Sometimes the tool stays in the toolplane of the previous operation. Makes verification impossible without purchasing the 5-Axis True Solids Verifier. QC has been notified. Does anyone else have this problem? I am not yet a maintainance subscriber, but it would sure bug me if I would have to become one, so that I could use the Verifier. That aside, I enjoy the help on this forum everyday. Thanks all Tim
  22. Jody Did you update your driver when you updated to 2000 pro ? I use 2000 pro, MC 9.1 and a Designjet 430 and it works fine. Tim
  23. Under Screen- Configure- Plotter Settings, is Use Windows Driver checked on?
  24. Howdy lads, I have been enjoying the helpful advice on this forum for a couple of years now, and this is my first post. I am thinking about purchasing the 5-axis true solid verifier, and am wondering if others are using this add-on. Is there a chance that it will be included in the Version X software?
