  1. I get G1 lines instead of G2/G3 alot using circle mill & helix bore toolpaths. The funny thing is that I can have several arcs picked as the toolpath geometry & I'll get arc moves for some of them and linear moves for others. I've never been able to figure out why. Does anyone have some insight on this?
  2. I use this just like g-code described all the time as well, not only for machining but also for inspecting parts with our probe when we can't always reach what we machined. Both on the horizontal & 4th axis on a vertical we rotate the part often to reach what was cut from a different angle. It works very nicely.
  3. I have mine set in the control definition like mentioned above and it works great. Make sure you edit the control definition by opening the machine definition though!
  4. Ditto on the MA Ford carbide reamers. I use them in lots of stainless alloys - 304,316,Nitronic 50 & 60, etc.
  5. Thanks Kyle for the reply. I have checked that and everything looks good. It is stripping the line numbers from all of the lines thru the entire program.
  6. I've just started using x4 a few days ago. I always use the renumber function from the NC functions menu in Mastercam editor. Now with x4 when I try to renumber, the editor just removes all of the line numbers. Anyone know how to fix this? I'm not available to check out the forum often, but every time I do I learn something! Thanks to all for sharing your knowledge
  7. X2MR2 Mill3 2-1/2 yrs. exp. I have never used high speed toolpaths & am considering a training class. Are these toolpaths only used on 3D work or are there other applications? Can anyone give me advice? Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks for the explanation on this. This bugs me a lot too. One place where it does come in handy to see everything is when you are machining similar toolpaths on different toolplanes, like on a horizontal for example.
  9. The shop vac with a good filter is good, even still the filter will clog quickly if you have a lot to cut. I use diamond coated carbide tooling when you have a lot of machining to do, if not the corners will wear fairly quickly. This coating is expensive, but worth it if you have plenty to cut.
  10. I'm not sure how to do this, but I will send it to you if you can tell me how to send it.
  11. No, I have tried all of the options & nothing shows up for that tool. Other tools display fine.
  12. yea, I have it on & nothing shows. I tried turning on the holder & that doesn't help either.
  13. by the way, I can see the tool in verify. But, I can't analyze where the tool actually is in verify. In backplot I was hoping to take a snapshot of the tool & then analyze the toolpath.
  14. I am trying to use a custom tool to cut a contour. When I backplot I cannot see the tool. I'm using x mr1. Any suggestions?
  15. i'm using version x mr1. when tapping the est. times in backplot are way off. i assume that this is due to feed per rev. is it possible to get a better estimate without converting everything to ipm?
  16. thanks john, i have tried that & i cannot get the tool to run down the left side (unless i pick the right offset)
  17. when i backplot a 2d contour operation my tool runs down the right side of the chains even though i picked the left offset. when i posted the operation i got a g41 but to the wrong side of the geometry. any suggestions? i rechained several times to no avail.
  18. i updated my software and changed the prog # under edit selected operations and it posts fine. thanks again to all for your help.
