  1. Look at PC Tooling, I use a lot of their extended length holders. http://pctooling.com/catalog/
  2. You can export the tool path then Import it in to the new file. I make a lot of a vacuum holding fixtures that mount to risers with the vacuum port running through the risers. So all of the bases to the tools are the same. So I have a couple different tool paths exported and import the one I need.
  3. I cut variety of different carbon fiber materials every day. This is the best all-around cutter I have found. Without going to the expensive PCD cutters. Regular end mills will cause the material to delaminate and will wear down extremely fast. http://www.onsrud.com/product/Item/m/itemDetail.html?q=66-911altin&itemId=66-911ALTIN My default RPM is 9200, IPM is 50. This can change a lot depending on the fiber in the material. When I first started cutting carbon I was surprised how much feeds and speeds vary depending on the type carbon and fibers that are used. Kevlar, Aramid and ceramic fiber will burn the cutter up fast and there is not a lot you can do about it. I have found that using the smallest cutter diameter possible seems to work the best. You shouldn’t have any problem using a .250” cutter on .200” material but might have to slow the feed down. This cutter will leave little ridges down the trim since it is a diamond shaped flute. If you need a smooth edge just come back and have a finish pass with a regular end mill, finishing the least amount possible. I try to leave less than .010". If you use a diamond like coated end mill for this it will last a long time, they can be found fairly cheap.
  4. My company has a DMS 5axis router, we are looking at getting another. I am kind of new to routers and don’t know what brands are better or heavier than others. The machines I have always been around where high speed 5 axis horizontals, so I’m still getting use to the light duty machines. I want to know what the next step up is. I would like to be able to do some of the finish work on are aluminum layup tools and still be able trim are composite parts. I don’t need to do any roughing, most of the work can be done on other machines we have, the router is the only 5axis we have. Thanks for any help yo can give me.
  5. I saved a file on the FTP site called 5AX BOXJ. I have always had good luck with 5axis flow toolpath doing stuff like that.
  6. I was told it was removed on purpose and was told it would probably will not return. I exported an old tool path and import it whenever I need it.
  7. Now when you open an X4 file its locked in zig-zag, you cant change it.

  9. X4 used to have a tab that you could switch the 5axis swarf toolpath from climb cut to zig-zag cut. Is this not an option anymore?
  10. To eliminate the drives you should be able to switch the x and y axis drives around.
  11. Haas controls the software you can not reload it yourself. The new board should have a newer version of the software on it.
