  1. they are all the same. and if i pick 3 operations out of 5; all three post . . . . and then they post again. this happens even with only one operation picked. the only way it runs smoothly is if i post everything.
  2. so i only pick a few toolpaths from my machine group, hit 'G1' and get the message: Partial NCI Output Not all operations for ______ have been selected for posting. Post all? that's all fine and normal. hit no and move on. the code comes up, and a second later i get the partial output message again. not fine and normal. i have hit no again and overwrite my first posting to get clear of the message. X2MR1 thanks k (i would ask the 5 year old, but it is nap time.)
  3. i'm out of characters on the signature. i shoehorned it in with a few edits (500 vs five hundred, etc). how 'bout this: In Italy, for thirty years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had 500 years of democracy and peace — what did that produce? SWISS CHEESE. of course, i suppose someone will chime in shortly and tell me that actually came from wisconsin. oh well, can't please everyone.
  4. i've been called out on that before. it's a quote from 'the third man.' i know it is inaccurate, although i thought and have heard germany, not austria. i still like the quote and the movie, but maybe i'll retire it given this is the second time i've had to state my position of entertainment before truth - in regard to the quote, of course.
  5. looks like this was asked a good while ago by someone else. i'm going to try again. is there a way to lock a layer or even better an entity so it is present in the graphics view, but is unaffected by transforms, etc without using the masks all / only? thanks k
  6. this very well may be an idiot question from the standpoint of someone that knows hardware, but here it goes: if i've run a verify and am navigating around the finished graphic to investigate the virtual part, is any screen lag associated with the graphics card or the processor? thanks k
  7. thanks Mike S (and others) you nailed it. i figured i was missing something. all three solved, and i have a little better understanding of navigating the guts of this program. a fellow here called me out on the quote - the cuckoo clock came from germany - still, i like the quote and the movie.
  8. i'll get my IT girl to triple check. they keep the admin privileges pretty locked down around here. . . . but what you are saying is that if i go to the system configuration window under settings and switch the file in the 'current' dropdown to my config - that change should stick. there is nowhere else to set it? . . . and same for others? thanks for the help
  9. bump - i'm back trying to figure this out. i do have full permissions, but the three items listed at the beginning of the thread don't stick. is there a file pointer buried somewhere for: - the configuration file - the .mtb file (MC starts up with the defaults) and 'Assign tool numbers sequentially' (won't stay off. have to manually uncheck each session)
  10. thanks. the simulation speed was set almost to the far left, but to answer the tool tolerance question - it is set to 0.008. is that a reasonable setting?
  11. the part i am on now is only 2D - i am not aware of a tool tolerance in the contour 2D parameters the linearization tolerance is set to 0.001. would that be about the same as what you are asking or are you talking about something what i don't know about?
  12. i haven't updated to any X3 (running X2 MR2 SP1); but i have just upgraded my computer (down to 5 minutes on the benchmark). my latest problem is that verify is CRAWLING, even on simple two dimensional contours and the slider biased all the way to 'speed' it staggers along with all the motivation of a drunk at 2am headed home to his wife. where's the 'go fastest' setting? thanks
  13. snapped new MC lines on different layer to end points of the rhino lines and used those for geometry to create a new plane no problem.
  14. original file is from rhino where its first object properties are labeled 'valid curve.' in rhino the nomenclature runs similar to a tiered species call-out: geometry valid curve line (numerical data) vs geometry valid curve arc (numerical data) so you can see where an arc and a curve are at the beginning in the same set (at least in nomenclature). the line data is flat for whatever that is worth. think this is the problem?
  15. i have two perpendicular intersecting lines out of whack with the rest of the orthogonal world that i want to use as to set up a new plane. when i chose 'planes by geometry' and select my first line, i get the message 'selected entity is not flat.' hmmmmmm . . . why? (A) are lines not the right geometry? ( when is a line not flat? thanks k
  16. ______________________________ I don't like having multiple places to set the same defaults. ______________________________ yeah, i'm actually glad to read confirmation that that condition exists. the idea seems so strange that i've questioned my memory on what boxes i've seen where. i'll have to work on this later - have to make stuff again.
  17. recently upgraded to a new computer, and i'm having a few issues the subject title of this post being one. Actually all the problems are related to starting a new session - ie: can't make the changes stick. 1- in the tool settings tab of the machine group properties, i can't seem to make the 'Assign tool numbers sequentially' box stay unchecked. when i start a new session of MC i have to remember to go uncheck it. 2- MC opens with the default configuration file and i have to switch it with my customized one. 3- similar problem as #2. i have to switch the default with my own .mtb file in the settings / customize window i had all this smoothed out on the old computer. is this a 'permissions' thing or do i have something pointing to the wrong place in MC?
  18. there was some mention of possibly putting it on the FTP site, which i rummaged around in but with no success. can anyone point me in the right direction or send me the file? that would be just swell. thanks.
  19. i did but all my sample files have pulled a houdini.
  20. forgive me for not going thru all 21 pages - i scanned the first few. is the benchmark file on the FTP site, and if so where? or could someone email the file to me? i've setup a new system, but lost the sample file. thanks k
  21. thanks thad. that is the better, more direct approach i was hoping for.
  22. i had tried that method before but hit a road block in getting the ops operation file to open properly. but that suggestion sparked a new approach - opened a second session of mastercam and opened the ops file directly from the 'file open' drop down which allowed me to edit. thanks
  23. doing that (at least the way i did it) creates a new source operation - does not overwrite the existing one. also still not able to delete source operations.
