I got the ok to build a subplate for my Okuma Genos M560V. The reasons for wanting one is the spindle nose to table top distance is so large (6"). Also I do muliple setups a day and small runs. Often I machine 1/4' x 20" x 20" plate that have several pockets and very little safe clamping area. Any advice on best material to use? or any other tips and idea on making my subplate?

I don't know if this will work for your application, but I've used small carbide centerdrills for engraving with success.

Is mastercam able to run on the machine your are trying to launch the linker on? If so maybe you can send us your mastercam.ini file to review as there might be some clues in there. Have you tried to run the linker on another machine? If the machine can launch Mastercam then the linker should work. I'll look into this some more.

When possilble, I prefer to square and machine in one setup by holding on to extra material in vise.

His logic, is that it will cut smaller once it gets dull and wears down.
In my 30+ years in this trade I can't think of a time when a reamer cut undersize. Is wire edm an option?

Try raster too!! when contained it's amazing!!
It's one of those toolpaths that I've over looked because I'm stuck in my ways. I just played around with it. I foresee it being very useful.

Here's my Cimco problem: If I have Cimco open with a posted program and I repost the same program it doesn't over write it like it has for years. This happens sporadically.

It works if you chain each contour.
This is what I'm trying to get away from . I'm looking for a less cumbersome option.

Can you just have multiple geometry with your parts already arrayed and window contour all of them without taking the tab pass and then window contour again taking only tab passes.
Thanks Del, I'm trying to get transform to do this for me but I've failed. I've used your method before with success, but I just tried it and its not selecting them in the right order (wire thread then contour) its jumping all over the place. I tried using "sort option" and that didn't help.

I have 2 different contours side by side each with their own wire thread point and I want multiples of them in basic array pattern. I'm trying to program this using transform and I want to leave a tab for each contour and then go back and cut the tab after ALL the contours are done. I can't get tranform to do this for me.

In MC there isn't a Threadmill option on tool page. So do I need to create a tool or choose an endmill?

I'm considering thread milling . I'll will be trying this on my Okuma 560V or Cinc. Arrow2 with an 18I control. I have zero experience in threadmilling so any advice would be appreciated.( Tooling, programming, process etc.)

We've tested it in some stamping die. It's almost double our run times. I'm trying machine some parts with standard HSS drills and taps. It's a real challenge. I have some carbide coated tooling on order. I'm going to try Guhring and OSG.

I'm looking for tips on machining CPM 15V tool steel. My main issue is drilling and tapping 10-32 and 1/4-20. Does anyone have experience machining this stuff?

I'm getting some quotes on a piece of Alca 5. I'm also considering using hot rolled steel and getting it ground. My concerns with Aluminium are ridgity and dings.
