  1. I've been on vacation..

    In my original question I messed up..

    This is what I meant to to have for my needed code:

    %

    L82/KB04082

    H1 =.00898

    H2 =.00661

    H3 =.00563

    H4 =.00512

    H5 =.005

    H6 =.00748

    H7 =.00512

    N100 G90

    N110 G92 X0. Y0.

    N120 M21

    N130 G0 X-.765 Y.625

    N160 E2521 H1 F.118

    N170 M90

    N180 M20

    N140 M78 M78

    N150 M80 M82 M84

    N190 G41 G1 X-.745 Y.678

    the problem is in the start of program only. I want the:

    N140 M78 M78

    N150 M80 M82 M84

    after the first M20.

    Whenever I try to change the post to do this it messes up all the other wire feed codes later in the program.

  2. I have a Bridgeport VMC 760. We bought it not long before Hardinge acquired Bridgeport. This machine has been nothing but great! The accuracy has been right on. The machine has giving us minimal problems.

    I know nothing about theses machines since Hardinge took over.

  3. I thought this would be easy but it's kicking my butt!

    This is what I want at the start of progam:

    L82/KB04082

    H1 =.00898

    H2 =.00661

    H3 =.00563

    H4 =.00512

    H5 =.005

    H6 =.00748

    H7 =.00512

    N100 G90

    N110 G92 X0. Y0.

    N120 M21

    N130 G0 X-.765 Y.625

    N150 E2521 H1 F.118

    N160 M90

    N170 M20

    N180 M78 M78

    N190 M80 M82 M84

    N200 G41 G1 X-.745 Y.678

    this is what I get:

    L82/KB04082

    H1 =.00898

    H2 =.00661

    H3 =.00563

    H4 =.00512

    H5 =.005

    H6 =.00748

    H7 =.00512

    N100 G90

    N110 M21

    N120 G0 X-.765 Y.625

    N130 M78 M78

    N140 M80 M82 M84

    N150 E2521 H1 F.118

    N160 M90

    N170 M20

    N180 G41 G1 X-.745 Y.678

    I'm using a modified version of

    Mitsubishi FA-Series 4X Wire.pst

  4. We had one of those 20 years ago. I, for some unknow reason kept some of the old files. I really liked that old machine. I want to buy it of the company but they won't sell it to me. Also if I remember correctly the code needed a heart symbol at the end of the program.

    Here's what I have as far as communication setting:

    Standard serial protocol

    #

    # STOPBITS = 1, 1.5, 2

    # DATABITS = 5, 6, 7, 8, 16

    # PARITY = NONE, EVEN, ODD

    # FLOWCONTROL = NONE, SOFTWARE, HARDWARE, BOTH

    # RECV_REMOVECHAR = NONE, ASCII0, ASCII0TO31,

    #

    [sTANDARDSERIAL]

    RECV_NOSAVEEMPTY= No

    TRAN_REMCHAR =

    TRAN_STARTTRIG =

    TRAN_ENDTRIG =

    DEBUGFILE =

    TRAN_OMITEMPTY = No

    SMT_MODE = No

    PORTINFO = COM1, 2400, 7E2

    COMPORT = COM1

    BAUDRATE = 2400

    STOPBITS = 2

    DATABITS = 7

    PARITY = EVEN

    FLOWCONTROL = SOFTWARE

    DTR_ENABLED = 1

    RTS_ENABLED = 1

    XONCHAR = 017

    XOFFCHAR = 019

    PARITYINSERT = 035

    USEPARITY = 1

    RECV_CRLF = AUTO

    RECV_OMMITLINES =

    RECV_REMOVECHAR = ASCII0TO31

    RECV_STARTTRIG =

    RECV_ENDTRIG =

    RECV_TIMEOUT = 5

    RECV_SENDXON = No

    RECV_FEEDSTART =

    TRAN_CRLF = 013,010

    TRAN_OMMITLINES =

    TRAN_DELAYLINES = 0

    TRAN_BREAKCOUNT = 0

    TRAN_TIMEOUT = 0

    TRAN_REMOVEWS = No

    TRAN_TABTOSPACE = No

    TRAN_FEEDSTART =

    TRAN_FEEDEND =

    TRAN_WAITFORXON = No

  5. I program setup and run 2 Mitsubishi machines. The oldest of the 2 is a FX10K which we bought new in 1998. Its been a good machine .We run it constantly on 2 shifts. We never had any problems with accuracy. We have only had 1 exspensive breakdown. The auto feed wire can be a little temperamental, but with a little experience with it, its pretty easy to work with.

    Our 2nd machine is a FA10P. Its a new version of the older one. It has fine finishing on which is a high accuracy and super fine surface finish.

    The best thing I can say about these machines is Mits. customer support. They always call back and they try to talk you through problems.

  6. quote:

    I'd ask the drafty boys if flatness is really an issue?

    If you use a vac fixture, both sides will be parallel to eachother, and as the plates are only 1/2" thick, they will 'bend' more than 5 thou quite easily on assy.

    Theres fixtures I'm making are use to hold parts for an engraving operating in a production environment. The fixture sits in its natural state with only locating pins. The "designers" claimed they researched and did testing on nylon and found it to be the best material for this application, I'm going to make some suggestions for different material and possible a design change. Wish me luck.

    Thanks for all the input. cheers.gif

  7. Recently we've been making boards made out of 1/2" nylon 6/6. The plates are 16" x 24". We squared them up then machine a series pockets in 1 side.

    They just added a parallelism and flatness within .005 . We all know how unstable this type of part can be. What processes in machining do you recommend that will allow me to maintain this tolerance? Possible there are some better materials that I could recommend to the designers???

  8. There are quite a few links to Youtube on here. A lot of them are programming and machining examples. The problem is my company blocks me from Youtube. I'm not into web design so I don't know if this is possible: it would be nice to have a upload video to this web site so that a link is not needed.

  9. I think you are talking about work shift in Z. It took me awhile to get used to it but this is how our Hardinge lathe works . The number that goes into your work shift in Z is negative the distance that the stock is out from machine "0". The face of our spindle is Machine "0" so if the stock is sticking out 1" from there, the work shift offset is Z-1.000.

    How come you want solids? I surficed ( pun intendid)for a long time without solids, now that I have it I almost never use it. (don't tell the boss)Why do you feel that you need it?

    Thats why I'm asking. I'm not sure if I need it. I'd just like to have some of the mentioned advantages, but now I'm wondering if its worth it.

  11. I do not have solids for MC. Our designers and myself use Inventor to create solids then I bring them into MC and create surfaces on import, then I work with the surfaces. I'd like to get solids for MC but I need some info on the advantages of this upgrade to be able to get the ok from my boss.

    I chose the 2d chamfer option with a .5 chamfer tool but it seems to be to far away from the edge and it doesn't cut any material when the program runs.

    I'm guessing its your tool geometry. righy click on your tool in your operating manager and make sure your tool setup matches your actual tool.

  13. quote:

    I really need to start charging employees when they carelessly tear up tooling, would you?

    Where would you draw the line between carelessness an a honest mistake? If you charge quality people for their honest mistakes, you'd pay dearly with bad attitudes, work slow downs, employees trying create overtime to help pay for the tooling they are forced to replace. I've been in this trade 30 years and I know the person making the chips has more control over shop output then management gives them credit for.

    If you have a person in a position where they are are unable or unwilling to the job. Then you must take on part of the blame for poor work.

  14. quote:

    Open both files

    Select the geometry from the source file

    Hit Edit then copy click yes to the disclaimer

    Move over to the recieving file

    Click Edit/paste..a toolbar will give you a

    bunch of options.. normally, you'll just

    Green check and accept the default settings and origin

    I've used MC for 12 years, I never knew this was possible bonk.gif

  15. quote:

    Are you referring to 'tab stop' conditions

    Both M00, M01,.....After and a program stop or optional stop Mits. EDMs need to start flush, wire feed and machining on before it will countinue on. Yes this is in a tab cut stop situation.
