  1. I am having problems to. I ran the update folder according to jparis but my post and machine def and control def do not get updated and do not show up in the x6 list. Every thing else looks ok. right click menu -background-icons etc is the same as x5. I just cannot get my post and machine def to update. Any thoughts? thanks

  2. Anyone familiar with ALUMOLD 500. I need to machine some parts and no one seems to have heard of it. The only thing I could find online is that its Brinell is 185. Just wanted to see if anyone here has any suggestions for SFM. Or what to compare it to. Thanks in advance.

  3. try this.. open the tool with tool edit..

change the tool number, hit TAB and check the D and H values

they should match the new tool number.

Now change the Tool number back to it's real value.

See if H and D are correct

Yes this works. But I have never had to do it in X4. Why should I have to do it now. The thing I do not understand is it does it at random. Out of 10 tools I will get 1 or 2 that post with zeros.

  4. I double checked and yes I am using the correct machine def and control def. I only use 1. If I load a generic haas file it still has zeros in the tool paramater offsets but it does post correctly. With my machine def and control def it posts some tools correctly and some with zeros in the H and D. Im confused. I compared my config file to the one in x4 and cannot see any differences.

  5. After installing x5 it posts out some of my tools with H0 and D0. When I look at the define tool page it says head # 0 and on parameter page it says 0 by the diameter and length offsets. In x4 I never had a problem but on the define tool page in x4 it has -1 by the head # and the correct offsets numbers on the parameter page. I do not have any custom libraries. What am I missing?? Thanks in advance.

  6. I have a pocket to cut in a36 hrs that is thru 1" deep. I want to try dynamic mill using a basic garr .500 carbide endmill 1.00 loc. I have no idea where to start for feeds and speeds and stepover. I was going to try

    .002 fpt (20 ipm)

    sfm 327 (2500 rpm)

    3% stepover or .015

full depth of cut( 1" deep)

    Am I anywhere close?

    Thanks in advance!
