  1. Yes everything is removed and replaced with other computers drive. Not sure on how to do this I think it was a portable hard drive the IT guy used I'll ask him for sure and get back to you. Alsso remember your overwriting the info on the computer so backup what is needed.
  2. McamNut on the sim error we were having the same problem for quit awhile tried many things. The only thing that solved this was copying the hard drive off of a pc that doesnt get the error to the one that does and it solved the problem. This was the last chance effort before we removed and reinstalled everything saved a little time copying.
  3. Wow, Thad I feel for you what a pain but if that keeps working let me know and I'll start the IT tech on it. Mike we havent been using any removable drives.
  4. Bump, one of our seats is still giving this error any help appreciated. Thought mr2 might help didn't.
  5. I was pro ver.9 when X came out and was playing with X thought I would never switch but now that I've used X solely for a couple months i'll never go back.
  6. I'm pluged directly into the hub I'll try reseating see if that helps.
  7. I didnt install 9 after X. I did do a repair on ver. X a couple of weeks ago and everything has been good so for minus the sim error. Shouldn't matter if your using 9 and X at the same time would it I thought they were seperate files for each. I wasnt using them aat the same time of message but do occasionaly go back to ver9 to look at files with X open and havent had any problems.
  8. I am getting an error saying the "sim has been disconnected you will have one chance to save your work" so I save and mcam closes. I did a search to find some people with same issue awhile back but no responses to why this was happening. It has happened alot on one of our box's with a parallel sim but I had the same error today on mine with a usb style so I wouldn't think that matters. Anyone know why this happens? And how to fix.
  9. For some reason now when I open my machine definition mcam errors out and closes. Also get a error when starting=== c:mcamxcommontempbnci.bin Any help or suggestions or should I uninstall and reload software. I don't know why it crash's now I have been using X with not much problems until I started messing with the defaults to try to get them restored.
  10. Is there a way to restore the operation defaults when I go to edit mine I get an error opening if I say ok it will open with no toolpaths in the white area.
  11. I just save slprt. file to desktop as a parasolid XT format then it will convert fine.
  12. Well. I cant get a snap shot of the screen on here. Do I need it linked to photobucket or something? I was trying to cut and paste.
  13. Yes, what Doug said I hope there is an easy way to change this in X.
  14. What we're doing is say you have A 2" square block with a .050" c'bore on the block @ x.250 Y.25 my world coordinate is the center of the block but I want the tool plane origin @ x.250 Y.250 so that when I cut the .050" boss I can use a 1/8" round stock and my machine cuts it on center becuase the toolplane is centered over the c'bore. This is just a simplified example of what I'm doing. I'm not sure if I'm confusing everyone more or if were all on the same page. All try to get a good example and cut and past it in here.
  15. This will be a pain in the a$$ if I have to create a new named view for each different toolplane that I need. I use 10 to 50 different toolplanes in the same file in ver 9 with one step selecting the point. I don't understand why you would want them linked.
  16. I stay in the top c-plane but only want the tool origin changed for different locations of electrodes in a cavity wich it changes but updates all of the operations not just the one I want.
  17. Want to change toolplane only but when I select a point it updates, working coordinate system,comp/const. plane. In 9 you could set toolplane independently is this not the case in X.
  18. This is were I changed the toolplane but it updates all operations not just the active operation. So if I have 10 operations and update the 10th one the first 9 operations also change to that number.
  19. does anyone know if this is a bug. or has anyone sent it to cnc software if it is.
  20. When changing my toolpath coordinate (toolplane ) in version X it updates all of my ops. How can I get this to change each operation seperately like in version 9.
  21. Lars if we use graphite we have to make more trodes than with copper to get the definition we need so I think the mill time is a wash. Our medical and fiber optic parts are done in a seperate clean room. The tool room is controled temp when the chiller goes down in the summer wich it has a few times it effects the wire machine and edm quiet abit so we shut it down but our mill doesnt grow and move much. As far as tolerances goes I hold .0002 all day long on our mill. Midwest your right you dont want to sneeze any were near parts if you do get lucky and find them on the floor they are probably junk anyway being dirty or damaged from hiitting the floor. It makes you sick when you drop a core pin or a ablock with a lot of grinding on it that took all day to make 1 good one and it hits floor you pray its not damaged.
  22. Personally with tungstun I will grind it With a 120 grit wheel and use wd-40 on the wheel to remove and keep copper from building up. Same stategy when grinding telurium but I would rather mill it and yes it does roll burrs so you may need to take a dry pass to remove or deburr after milling. . Copper is still much cheaper today than graphite. Oh and we 99% of time use telurium over tungsten. 3trodes per burn and detail is perfect and within tenths of size.
  23. We use copper here 90% of the time burning with a mits EA12 machine. the reason being the size of the parts the small graphite trodes will erode bad and the copper will hold up very well. We use copper telerium or for better wear resistance coppper tungsten is even better but this is harder to machine . You will find if you are wanting to burn to a mirror finish the edm time will greatly increase and erosion of trode will increase. If we can polish our cavity we burn to a 1 or 2 mat finish and polish by hand.
