  1. I bring solid works files in daily havent had any problems lately but in the past I would save them out of solidworks as a parasolid xt filethen try. My files I usually convert are slprt. files the parasolid file comes in cleaner sometimes but takes extra steps.
  2. Anyone out there using mcam wire package I would like to hear how well it works. We are currently using another software (esprit) and the operators are not happy with it and I need some good comments from experienced operators to show the boss how well mastercams software works.
  3. does unblanking and the untrim option get the same result Ive never used the blank/unblank option much. Is it correct that unblanking shows you what was trimmed off the original surface as a seperate surface?
  4. Thanks CadCam thats exactly it. Thanks to all this forum is like the best class you can ever take

  6. I have put a mcam9 file on ftp under mcam9 folder called remove fillet. I am trying to remve the fillet between the red surfaces or to trim the red surfaces together. I have surfaces to show area thatneeds fixed so if it can be done on solid great if not surfaces will work. I have removed fillets but only some were removed. This is something for our design departement has asked if Icould get in mcam something about it wasnt subtracting right because of this area. 15. Could anyone tell me why when I try to convert a dwg. file from autocad some entities are in background color and mastercam usualy prompts you to change color but these entities arent being brought in at all until I change colors in autocad then resave and convert into mcam. I sthere a seting to select if you want entities in background color to come in or not.
  16. this is one bad thing about solids you cant get the face to highlight unless you change solid to surfaces is one way another is to do your toolpath then in parameter page pick select tab under drive surfaces and then pick show this will show solid faces a little better than on the solid hope this helps
  17. I removed metacut utilities from the operations manager and the backplot issue works fine now for anyone who may have this issue.

  19. I have the same problem with project blend digging on flat or slighty tapered surface turned filter off and worked great Also still having the problem with the thorough blend totally wipping my part out change it back to quick and it doesnt happen So I dont use the thorough much but try when it is supposed to shine on steep or slight tapers and it fails.
  20. I'm running mcam 9.1 and when doing a backplot I used to be able to hold both mouse keys down over the step tab to watch it backplot faster than clicking it a million times wondering why it worked in 9.0 not in 9.1 Also haveing broblems with my shading when I open a new layer with geo. there the wire frame is there but is'ntn shaded when I toggle the shading I see the solid frame change to my shaded color but doesnt shade solid if I close mcam and open it goes away and is shaded happens randomly running windows 2000 pentium 4 1400 mhz 785 ram g-card nvidia GeForce2ultra
  21. Paul, woops about the double post but anyway my tools are defined in the posted code but not in the window were you select the diferent paths so when I go to verify it tells me to define tools.
  22. I put the path on the ftp site under mc9 files named upload. the path is on thorough now and is incorect change back to quick regen and it works great.
  23. I'm using surface finish project blend toolpath on an electrode and used the new feature under the blend tab caled thorough and it cut half of the trode away. all i did was change it back to quick and worked fine. wondering if anyone has had problems with this in 9.1
  24. I like the software. But it seems I have to define all my tools again in metecut to be able to verify a part. Takes time when you have many tools.
