  1. Since I started using 2017, I have had an issue where if I have only one operation, there is no tool change number generated. If I have two or more operations, both operations have a tool change number. The other guys here do not have this issue and we are using the same post processor. What am I missing?
  2. We are having a similar Parasolid Data error in mcamX7 mu2 when we attempt to open SW2014 files. I tried to use the fix provided by Glenn at the top of this thread but all I get is an error code 0x8007005 which appears to be related to permissions. I double checked that I had administrative priviledges but still no success. We get *.sldprt files from a lot of different users so the temporary work around of using *.x_t files is not so convenient.
  3. All, I have an ACER kneemill, 2-axis CNC retrofit with the Mitutoyo/millstar CNC control. The computer has completely broken down and cannot be repaired. The glass slides, servo-motors, servo-amps etc. are in good shape. does anyone know of a replacement CNC controller that will plug and play on this mill?   5. Hi Colin, Thanks for your help. I did email QC this morning, and got the following reply: "This appears to be an issue logged as cnc00038652 but is now fixed in the Maintenance update of X3. There appears to be no work around for the time being." So I guess I'll wait for the maintenance update. Bummer. Thanks again. Cheers, Steve

  9. OK. Starting to get a little frustrated. Here's where I'm at: I tried changing every conceivable option in Mastercam to see if it would change. It didn't. I found that the letter R that is out put with the rotary move is some sort of retract or clearance value. Technically, R is from the refht_a in the post. It's like after the first canned cycle line, it completely ignores what to do next. It starts it's own canned cycle with the tool feeding to -.585 in Z and retracting to infinity. This file was not imported from X2. I simply made the same part in both programs. In X2 it works, but not in X3. Any ideas? Thanks, Steve
  10. I did the post debugger. There was nothing there about the rotary. Where the canned cycle starts, the post gets the pdrill string, and then the only other thing before the G80 is a pdrill_2. I'm at home now and tried with the generic Haas post (my email wouldn't let me download my post...) and I was still getting bad code, nearly identical to the first bad code, which tells me that it wasn't the post. I've uploaded my file to the FTP site. In the X3_Files folder, the zip to go is called "4thaxistest". Thanks

  13. The header of the post says it's a "mpfan". I read the post about updating the parameters, but I couldn't find those parameters in the post.

I have a little experience editing posts, but this one is beyond me. This is using X3. Everything seemed to work fine in X2 MR2. Thanks for any help.
  15. Fixed it. In the lead in/out page , the sweep of the arc was set to 0.0. I changed it to 90.0, like the contour page, and SHAZAM!!! Thanks for your help.
  16. Ok, I think I've figure out the tabs thing. I went into the 2nd page of the tabs interface and checked "tab all" and selected them to start at the midpoint . This seemed to remedy the issue. Still no cutter comp in the pocket though.
  17. Hi All, I've recently upgraded to X3 and I'm having some issues. First, I cannot get my lead in/out to work on the finish pass of a pocket toolpath. No matter what percentage of lead in/out I use, it just doesn't happen. Second, I cannot get tabs to work on a contour. If I put them in manually they do, but not from the contour toolpath interface. Any ideas? By the way, both of these things worked for me in X2 MR2 with the exact same settings. Ugh...

  19. Hi All, A feature I liked in X was that when I changed the Gview, the cplane changed with it. I cannot get this to happen on X2 MR2. I checked my config, and the box is checked that says it should update, but it won't. Will it only do this for the standard views? In other words, if I make my own WCS and call it "top" for that set of operations, and I hit the front button, will it go to the front cplane? Thanks
  20. Thanks for the reply. I was just about to write what I found. I imported the surface from the "good" part and selected it as the drive surface and....TADA!!!! It worked. In analyzing the surfaces (simply by doing an analyze entity), I found that the one from the "good" program has control points of 10 by 4, and the one from the "bad" program has control points of 6 by 6. How are they different, and how can they be changed? I mean , what makes one spline a 10 x 4, and another 6 x6 if they're made the exact same way?
  21. Hi All, I'm having a problem with some surfacing. I'm doing 2 operations of surface finish parallel on the same surface, the only difference being that the first time I use a 1/8" flat EM, and the 2nd time I use a 1/32" BEM. The rest of the parameters are the same, but the toolpath generated is completely different. The thing is, I did this Exact same thing on an earlier program, and it did exactly what I want on both toolpaths. I put both the good and bad files on the FTP site in the MCX_MR2 or earlier folder. (Yes, I know. I was in a hurry and picked the wrong one.) The good one is called 20 MM good. The bad one is called 30 mm bad. Just check out the surface parallel toolpaths in the first group in the "good" program. I cannot figure this out. Any help would be great. thanks
  22. Hi all, A customer of ours wants to make a tracer lathe attachment. He emailed a MS Excel file with X and Y positions of his points. According to him, is is some 4th degree equation or something. Anyways, we need to offset the curve to compensate for the cutter, but to do that, we need to have the curve first. I realize I could make points and create the curve, but there are about 2000 points in his Excel file. Here is my question: Is there a way to import many point positions without having to type each one? A c-hook or other application? Thanks.
