  1. Hi all, I would like to add a Kennametal back boring bar to my lathe tool library. The problem I have is that none of the catalogs have the bar in it. Is there some way to update the tool libraries, or am I gonna have to draw the darn thing? Thanks Steve
  2. If you mean the common parameters thing, I've tried that. I think I've tried editing every possible option I could. I've looked through different posts to see if I could spot anything, but I haven't. This leads me to believe that it is the cycle that won't allow it. Maybe this is something to change for X3?
  3. Hi all, I was wondering why Mastercam doesn't allow a rapid move while pecking in a cutoff cycle. This would be a big time saver in my humble opinion, but every post I tried just did feed moves to cut and retract. I guess I want it to act like a peck drill cycle. Any input would be fantastic
  4. Greetings. I was curious about how to create rapid moves while pecking in a lathe cutoff toolpath. I select the peck box and fill out all the info, and the machine will peck, but its all done as feed moves. I would like for the tool to rapid out, then back to the stock. Is this something in the control def? I've fooled around with the parameters in the peck part of the cutoff cycle, but I get the same results. I've looked in the post, but there is nothing about a cutoff cycle there. We're running a Milltronics ML-15 with a Centurion 7 control and Mastercam X2. This would be handy to save a little time. Thanks.
  5. The machine does not have a canned cycle for this, just linear feed moves. I've also tried to adjust the parameters in those fields, but it still will just output G1 moves. I went through the post, but couldn't find anything to do with the cutoff cycle. I suppose that I could add a section to the post to support what I want, but I have a feeling that that much post editing is beyond my capabilities.

  7. I couldn't get into the FTP site where the new post is...any suggestions?
  8. breaking the chain works but I discovered by trial and error that shortening the chain length in lead-out solved the (air cut) problem. Thanks again, Dave
  9. I'm trying to make a flat bottomed bore in aluminum by drilling with a 3/4" end mill and rough turn ID with a 3/8 boring bar. The rough turn cycle make it's first cut at 0.1" diameter-should be 0.8" diameter. Is there a way to start roughing the bore off-axis followed by a finish cut to center line? Dave
  10. Learning to use lathe X2 whenever i make a change in one operation, every subsequent operation must be regenerated consuming considerable time. is there a setting or something that prevents one operation from changing every following operation?
  11. Thanks, That worked, we also found the button in the configuration area to change that default. Is there a URL for the whats new file? It opened after the update finished but I didn't bookmark
  12. This has to be something simple. We installed MR2 yesterday. When we post a series of operations, only the first op is posted. Whats going on? Dave Savage
  13. We use a number of Kennemetal lathe tools. None of the tools we have are in the MCam X tool library. Does anyone know if there is an updated Kennemetal Library available? Dave Savage MCamX MR1
  14. I wonder if the dynamic z coordinate display is hidden behind the left hand buttons on the status bar? I have not, as yet determined a way to condense or remove those buttons.
  15. In version X, backplot shows X and Y coordinates in the status bar. Is there a way to display the Z coordinate as well?
  16. JimP, Check your e-mail, I sent you an .MC9 file. Hope it helps. Dave
  17. I've looked at the settings in Internet Explorer and nothing appears to be locked out. I keep getting an error message saying that I don't have permission to access that folder. I wonder if the problem lies with the University firewall?
  18. Does anyone know of a tool library containing a 5/8-27 tap or must I create a custom tool for NS taps? Also, how does one obtain permission to access the FTP site?
  19. Try downloading Dr. Zhu's report from the following website http://www.gemlux.com/?page=electropolishing
  20. No, I have an Intel 82845/GL/GE/PE/GV video driver
  21. After installing MCAM 9.1 on my new computer I began having an annoying problem selecting toolpaths. When I select a chain, the direction arrow and crosshair may flash but remain invisible until I select done from the selection menu, at which point it is too late to reverse the direction without quitting the toolpath. (If I repaint the screen, the arrows appear as long as I don't move the cursor in the drawing window.) Is there a setting somwhere that I am missing?
  22. Thank you Iowa Jim, This must be a feature of V9.1? It didn't seem to matter which view I was in before I upgraded to V9.1
  23. Running Verify from the operations window used to show a green 3D solid. Now when I run verify, the graphic comes up 2D in a light blue. Is there a way to return to the old 3D graphic?
  24. this is my first post I am a machinist at Washington State University running Mastercam V8.1 I am having trouble getting the hatch feature to work on an irregular polygon. Apparently not all of my boundaries are closed. Any suggestions? Dave
