  1. Had design convert to parasolid xb. Works fine. Will wait for x4 mu2 to upgrade Thanks.
  2. I'm running x3 mu1 using solidworks 09 models. Now design suddenly upgraded to 2010. I know the solidsworks patch is not yet avaiable for x4. Two questions. Will there be a patch for x3 and can I use 2010 models at this point with out upgrading to x4. X3 has more features now then I will ever use and every time I switch versions it takes me a week to get everything working right. I think I will wait for x4 mu2 to upgrade but for now I need to load solidworks 2010 models.
  3. Thanks guys. Will give him a holar. Nets been down all day.
  4. I just tried Tonys' option and it worked on this part. How do you convert solids to surfaces? Still need to mirror someday. How much is solids? Aprox. Nate is on vacation. Thanks guys.
  5. I'm running x3 mu1 mill2. I toolpath off of solid works 3-d models. I need to rotate programmed part 180. Xform will not work because I do not have the solids option. My wcs is set to new view 1 which I created. I can update xyz origin in planes but can not rotate without creating a new view in planes or wcs. All I want to do is rotate around z and change y zero and not have to reprogram part. Can I rotate my solid without the solids option? I'm aware that X4 has the new dynamic planes thing but I'm happy with X3. I also would like to be able to mirror. My next job is a large part that is a mirror image of one already done, over 100 operatins with 5 rotations. I'm running a hmc with rotory table buy the way. I've been stuck on this mirror thing for a while. It all comes down to I don't have solids option for xform to do what I need. Will X4 do it or do I need to open my wallet? How much? Don't think I need solids because I don't create or programm 3-d. Pretty much 2-d toolpathing off a solid works model. Thanks
  6. I have the MX-701 III. NH series. My electical book says nc is a FS-31i. I've noticed a fanuc sort cut emblem on my startup screen and my apps guy did say it was a fanuc.
  7. I just did this recently on a mori fanuc. In machine definition manager click on edit general machine parameters. Check coolant commands and change "mist" to "air blast". Save and exit. In post search for "mist" command and change m codes to what you want. This new option will appear on new operations as air blast in coolant drop down. For existing opps just click to mist. You will get proper m codes.
  8. I'm running the same machine with a mx701III. Latest and greatest. Control is a fanuc. I'm using the mpmaster post. In the tool paremeter page i can select tap and I get a peck option. Select peck depth and post. Outputs a g94 then m29 s200 and puts a q value in the command line. Make sure you have the m29 s0000 before the g84.
  9. Can you tread mill a 1/4-20?
  10. I assume roll and form taps are the same thing. Almost all my jobs are one off. 1-4 parts. Mild tool steels and cast iron parts. I'm definetly looking into form taps, but would like to find somthing that works in cast iron as well. Set up my tool changer and leave em sit. Tool guy is trying to sell us some new stuff and i'm trying to get educated. Shop is slow so I get some play time. Thanks for the input.
  11. After using floating tap heads for ever I finally have a nice new mori with a fifty tapper and ridged tapping. I want to get away from drilling holes deeper for chip clearence and eliminate picking chips out of the holes when done, and with my coolant flow I can't see if chips are clinging to the tap. I hear alot abought form taps but have never used them. I do a lot of cast and a fair amount of mild tool steels. Not looking for high volume production but would like to explore higher feed rates and more consistent thread depths. Assembly will thank me later.
  12. Thanks for the help guys. Getting V9 from dealer.
  13. Thanks. That's what I'm looking into.
  14. Thanks. Would like to know if there is a convertor or download for 7.
  15. Currently running x3 mu1 on new work station. All previouse versions I had are long gone. Getting a job in that I had originally done in 7 but can't open them in 3. Is it still possible to get a basic version of 9 to open 7 files? Working off old prints so I have no model. Will probably end up redrawing over again. So "03". Having a version of 7 would save me a lot of time. Tanks.
  16. I am currently running X3mu1. The shop is installing 3 new work stations to replace the pc's we have now. I get the lovely task of installing x3 on all 3. We have maintanence and I want to do a new install. Post, tools, machine defs, and config are all backed up. Do I need to install x2 as well or can I just download x3?
  17. That's the ticket. File is write protected so I had to get administrator access. Thanks.
  18. I'm running x3 mu1. I've been playing around with feature based drilling and making some new tool libraries. Importing, exporting operations and some other things I've been trying to figure out. As of the 18th somehow one of my common paramaters was changed. I can no longer filter my tools in the tool manager. I call up tool manager with my specific tool library, check filter tools, select only drills, mills or whatever check the arrow and I keep getting the same pop up. Error opening c:mcamx3commonprmtoolfilt.prm . Whats even more perplexing is the date on this prm says it was modifed on the 18th, both on my hard drive and my network backup. Have the same problem on a completly differnt computor that I did not even touch. I have a screen shot but don't know how to post it.
  19. Dealer recomends 275 sf .012 ipr. which gives me abought 1570 rpm at 18.84 ipm . Reduce feed by 30% 2xD. Sound doable? I'm gonna let er rip.
  20. Running X3 with a new mori seiki nh6300. Drilling 8 .669 dia. holes 8" through 1020 h.r. steel. Simple bolt pattern. Just dropped some change on a guhring 17 mm solid carbide coolant through profile drill,9" flute. Plan to run in a r32 collet holder.Flange coolant though equiped with a chip blaster. 1000 psi I believe. I'm an old school bar guy so this should be interesting.I usually run drills between 50-100 sf. Would really like to see what my new baby can do. 8x8=64 holes. Thanks. Love the forum.
  21. Open control panel on your desktop. Switch from classic view to catagory view, upper left control panel box. Click mastercam x icon. Open mastercam properties. Click post support. Clik on disable to enable. Save. Close. When you post your program a orange bug looking thing appears in the lower left corner of your dialog box. Click and enjoy. This is also explained in mastercam help under post debugger.
  22. I've been playing with this for a while. Basicly I have to respecify nci data paths after every change even if I just move a toolpath.
  23. It seems the only option for nci file names is the default directory. I opened a new file. Generated a couple toolpaths. Posted them. Checked ask for nc and nci file names. Specified my location. Enter, done. Add one toolpath. Post. Ask for nc and nci. Nc stays the same but nci is back to default. Does the same thing just buy moving toolpaths in group as well. If nc and nci file names are not the same they will not post together.I then have to go back and regenerate all toolpaths and post them checking ask and retyping any changed toolpaths to the correct file name making sure they are all the same then post one last time for one complete program. I spose the no brainer thing to do is to send everything to default directories but I need to send nc programs to a flash drive and hate looking for them. Hence, user defined file names that stay the way you want them. It takes just as much time to modify a program and repost it as it did to write this page. I'm done complaining. Happy friday. Peace out.
