  1. There is already values (3mm). I tried with 3mm more but it s the same. Did you try with my file?
  2. Thanks for your efforts ! I tried these tricks but it only solved partially... Peter: If you include upper drive surface+1 starting point then click regenerate you can think it s ok but it s not. Lead-out is ok for sure but important thing: you lost shallow Z-depth pass (1st ones in the fillet should be around 0.1). All Z-depth path are now equal according to 'maximum stepdown' value (.25). So to make them go back here is the way to go: - delete regen files (not really useful but safier i think) - uncheck 'shallow' - regenerate toolpath - check 'shallow' - regenerate toolpath If you're backplotting you should notice Z-depth pass (around .1) in the fillet are came back and lead-out prob too (even with starting point and upper drive surface).
  3. Hi guys! Still get a prob with a surface machining (finish contour). I put a file on FTP (MC9/finish contour lead out.mc9). My prob is about lead out (direction button) of the toolpath especially if i'm using shallow option. As file is, tool immediately moves up at the end (and gouge...) but i'd like it moving XY plane before Z clearance move. If i don't use shallow button toolpath seems correct... Any idea ? I noticed some other weird things about shallow button. If i save file, re-open it then regenerate operation, sometimes shallow Z-depth disappears (all machining is using Z-depth standard). Anyone noticed that too ? Using MR0304.
  4. Ok, thanks all. I finally fixed it by re-creating surfaces (tangents fillets were apparently the prob so i made a spline for this 2 arcs then revolved it) and it s much better. However, really weird results sometimes with Z-depth cut (horizontal zone and flats). I think multisurface machining requires many experimentations and tricks to make toolpath just as you want they look like.
  5. Hi all! I'm just new to level 3 and i have some probs with pocket machining (surface). This is a pretty simple cylinder with fillets at the bottom end. I'd like to machine flat zone at the bottom but i can't do something clean... tool seems to zigzag at this depth. File: pocket and fillet on cadcam's FTP Thanks for all your helps
  6. sorry, i found... S/P were activated.
  7. I'd like to know if any toolpath can be trimmed. I want to limit a simple 2d contour but it doesn't appear in the tree manager... normal or weird?
  8. Yes, re-generation works fine but if i'm saving file then open it again: error occurs (+operation locked).
  9. As i open my file (with Lathe V9.1SP2) i get the error message: "Error in NCI file has been repaired". I can't rid of that. File looks good to me. Anyone has an idea? I post on FTP Dir: MC9 file: ERROR IN NCI.mc9
  10. Hi Iskander. I tried your file and should work fine to first roughing but i hope this won't take too much time. I will then use common contour roughing.
  11. That's pretty fine. I just invert your chains and it trimmed correctly with 2 boundaries. However there are glitches remaining (Z-clearance)
  12. Try to find anybody who has solidworks + Mastercam. With Solidworks direct interface (available freely on Mastercam website) you can directly import models into Mastercam window then save them to MC9 files.
  13. Yes, this is fine for finish! But what i really would like is to rough with constant z-depth (tool/material) and let Mcam to stop contours according to stock boundaries(surface cylinder). A stuff we didn't talk here about opening pockets that way (contour and let middle part) is vibrations at the end of contour...
  14. You want some example ?!? Sure! Thanks for your help.
  15. Nice idea. I will advise the guy who prepare machining job. However, if i still must remove all chips. Best known method ?
  16. This is a common machining i have to do: To open a pocket on a cylinder. I would like to optimize toolpaths because stock isn't a box but cylinder. So if i use a standard 2d pocket function, tool is gonna loose too much time. I usually manage this with contour toolpath+2d pocket but i'm pretty sure there are better and quickier ways to make it. Probably with surfaces machining functions. Any advices ? I uploaded a file on Cadcam FTP (Directory: MC9 / Filename: POCKET-OPENING.MC9)
  17. I usually use 40m/min - 0.1mm/flute with seco tools for general machining (face/rough contour toolpath).
  18. thanks all for replies ! Anyway it seems all fonts found are not machining friendly (all line doubled). I will have to draw my text. Weird it doesn't exist...
  19. Hi all, I need to engrave text on a diameter (4-axis) and my customer wants me to do it with ISO font. I thought I would find it into Mastercam standard but every font i tried doesn't exactly match. I also need it with single line design (i already have some truetype). Anyone knows where i could find it? Or where i can find dimensions to draw it? Thanks for your help.
  20. quote: The best way to translate a joke is parasolid I got this one !
  21. Jack I: I uploaded on FTP a video showing briefly WCS use. Hope this helps... Filename: WCS demo.avi into "All pictures" directory. (20Mo)
  22. quote: Have you tried cursing the monitor? Not really sure i understood. I assume you are kidding, are you ?
  23. quote: I am a newbie and I am not comfy with WCS yet. I think i have a little video showing WCS use. I'll put it online tomorrow if you want.
