  1. Today I just got my new workstation: a Dell Precision 490+Quadro FX550+XP PRO 32bits and I experienced randoms crashes with MC V9.1 MR304 (stuck here forever...). Mill.exe crashed at least once per hour today. I'm gonna look into Video driver. Do Nvidia 91.36 Quadro drivers should be OK? Which Profile must be selected? I just read on the forum that Unified Back/Depth Buffer must be unselect with MCX...I will check this setting with MC9.
  2. Yes I just want to create the wall surface! Murlin, how did you do that ???
  3. The problem is that one of the chains (the line) is not onto the surface, it must be offsetted (not sure of the english term...) 14mm (radius cutter) following the other chain (spline).
  4. Hi! I need your help to draw a surface. My point is i need to draw the machined surface from a simple 5x toolpath (curve5x) to be able to machine it with a ball cutter on a 3x controller(by using 3d-contour toolpath and surface created). For now, I only have 2 chains: one is the spline to machine in curve5x toolpath, the other is a line which is tool direction still in curve5x toolpath. How to model this machined surface precisely? I looked into swept surface but cant't do it properly... I put a file on FTP: MACHINING2GEOMETRY in .MC9 directory. thanks for your help
  5. Hi all! I just looked at your file (CADCAM) and there is improvement but it still remains some problem. The point is that 3D contour toolpath you made is exactly what I want to do with curve5X. However I need to do it with curve5X because i want to be able to use 5-axis features (to tilt cutter) The problem is that in your file, curve5x toolpath doesn't match 3D contour toolpath. It seems rotated or mirrored. I don't really know what's the problem Anyway, what did you modify (geometry?/parameters?) to make curve5x toolpath to work? EDIT:I looked into it deepier and it seems toolpath is projected at the opposite side of the surface (diameter). I want to project on the side next to spline. Help... Thanks all
  6. I want: - That the cutter follow the spline from right to left (this is a screw) - tool tip compensate on the surface - Keep tool normal to the surface
  7. quote: If you look at your spline (from the side) it starts past 6 o'clock the toolpath starts normal to the start of the spline. Can you explain why this is a problem? This is why i can't project on surface? How to correct?
  8. Hi ! I have a prob with curve5x toolpath. I'm (still) new to multiaxis toolpath and need your help. I put a file on FTP (MC9 directory:Screw_curve5x) This is pretty simple but I can't do it... I want to machine a slot on a cylinder (which is several laps long). It looks like a screw and it's typically a 4-axis toolpath which can be programmed with Rolldie C-hook too, but i would need 5axis toolpath to be able to tilt cutter. How to make this toolpath smooth? Project normal to surface? I'm using MCAM9.1 Thanks!
  9. Still don't use X but this is what i think: - can you select several solid in verify config? Yes => Not a bug No => Clearly is...
  10. The only tip i found to verify correctly is to draw as you said (tooltip=Y0) then to add 'minus' length needed in field 'Z stock to leave'... But don't forget to enter right value before posting! For your problem about tool geometry file, there is no association with parent so it's safier (especially if you're saving your files with network paths...) to draw tool geometries within your .MC9 mill file. Draw them on a layer (in top view without WCS) then in tool parameters use 'number layer' instead of 'file name'
  11. Which Mcam version are you using? But I guess it's because you drew tool geometry BELOW X-axis. It's working in backplot but not in verify. This problem appeared with V9.1 (worked fine with v9.0). Really annoying as there is no other way to set tool length compensation (tooltip control). I reported that bug a few months (years?) ago. I'm using V9.1MR304.Is problem still there with V10?
  12. happens sometimes... nothing to do except to try to redo the .stl file. Best ways to success: - To creat/save .stl model with solidworks or - To save parasolid model in any software you're using then import it in Mcam then save as .stl hope this helps...
  13. I just looked at your file and it seems the trick was to add a surface to avoid (don't know the correct word in english Mcam version...). But in this particular case (mine) does restmill is working really with this kind of .stl stock? i mean the already roughed area. Another prob is the tool is plunging in stock and i d like it to plunge in already roughed area... You talked about other way to do it better. 3D pocket? if you could help Thanks again
  14. Thanks Iskander! Work day is gone but I will look at your files as soon as i go back to the office tomorrow morning. Thanks again.
  15. Was i rude ??? Really sorry but this is probably cause english is not my language... As i'm asking: "What do you mean..." this is cause i TRULY didn't understood sentence and/or words and would like more explanations. So anyone can really help me with restmill ? Yours.
  16. What do you mean "can't see" and "check your file net pc"? Of course i enabled checkbox on TPCFG.DLL otherwise i wouldn't be able to use STL file for stock.
  17. I just tried for a couple hours to make this simple toolpath and really can't do it. I have a simple pocket to rough but stock is not a standard block so i made a STL file but mastercam seems to ignore it and still machining in the air. I tried other restmill way: fake machining or trimmed toolpath (this trick worked but it s not that great...). I really wonder how STL stock recognition is working with restmill? What do i do wrong ? Any help needed... In FTP: MC9_files/Restmill.zip Using MR304 level 3
  18. Yes... this trick isn't possible anymore since V9.1 (worked fine with V9.0SP1) and new verification mod. You CAN'T draw profile tool below X axis anymore and use verification. However backplot is still correct... Will V10 manage tool length toffset ?
  19. This is a Z-constant 2D contour. I just put files on FTP if you want to give a look: In MC9 directory: PCIR ERROR.MC9 (2d contour) In Posts directory: PCIR ERROR.PST (Post file) PCIR ERROR.TXT (Menu file)
  20. I tried and prob is that MP executes PLIN function instead of PCIR function. I checked and Gcode 3 is correct in the nci file.
  21. Ok did it but it's not been useful. Anyway, I'm not sure i ve got the newer updatePST C-hooks... It adds that line: skp_lead_flgs : 1 #Do not use v9 style contour flags
  22. Hi! It seems i've got a prob with one my posts. I recently got MR304+MP.DLL V9.19 and now with a Heidy post as i'm doing a simple 2D contour (1 arc) MP.dll doesn't go in PCIR function anymore... Here are some issues i checked: - My arc is on the same plane as T-plane - Filtering is off - V9.10 (and V9.14 i guess) is still posting Circle moves perfectly - V9.19 is still working with other posts Here are post settings: breakarcs : 0 arctype : 1 do_full_arc : 1 helix_arc : 2 Are there any other variable i should check ? Any idea ?
