  1. I dont think that you have to use both. Maybee I messed up, but what I thought I said in the last post of the link I sent, is use "as defined" and just regen everything (if it is dirty or not) before running verify. Check it out, and see if it verify's correctly on your part. Use "as defined" then regen everything, then run verify.
  2. http://tinyurl.com/ac7k89 I dont know if these kind of links work here but this is a link to the posts from a couple months ago.
  3. I was trying to figure this out a couple of months ago. I ran verify and it was not correct. Then even tho my operations were not dirty, I regenned everything and went directly to verify and it looked perfect.
  4. I might be wrong, but can't you get a student version of some of the software, if you take a class? I think the licence is only good for 6 months or something?
  5. try this... File Save Some All Level (then select the level you want) Done then save to a temp file or whatever, then merge it or whatever.
  6. Well I guess that is something. Rumor is mastercam is working on a major revamp of the tool manager (X4) and probably wont get to fixing this. I think I am going to give up and redoo my tool list to calc from tool.
  7. It bugged me to have to change the settings, configuration, verify settings to "auto" so I changed back to "as defined" and went back and had another look..... Another piece of the puzzle is if I open a file created in V9 or X2, when it opens all operations are green checked and look good, "then go directly to verify without regening", I get "corrupt or invalid tool, contact your mastercam dealer". It is now stuck in verify, and I must click OK at the start of each tool to just get thru it and the verify model will be slightly wrong. So if I Regenerate all toolpaths first, then go into verify, the error goes away and it verifies correctly! Yea! hope this helps.
  8. I have also had some of these problems with slot mills and bull nose end mills. I went to settings, configuration, verify settings, and changed it to "auto". This worked for me. I wonder if I will have a problem with custom tool profiles now. On a side note I have found if you use "turbo" to verify with, the problem tool will always be messed up. It seems to be disreguarding the setting.
  9. we touch off the top of the radius not the end of the tool just for the reason that all corner rounding end mills are not alike. There is usually enough extra to touch off of if you are carefull. you need extra retract with this method. A few years ago I played with the geometry file that shows the tool. I tried to shift the geometry so it verified correctly from the top of the radius. limited success.
  10. I like the OSG exopipe if the material is hard enough. last time we had heat treated 17-4ph (33 hrc)I used the 15 deg spiral type. Ran about 50 holes with molly-dee and I see little wear on the tap. I have also tried the exotap-mold but they cost more.
  11. well this is a little different, but still a verify problem. What I am seeing is when I get a file that was created in X2 or V9 into X3mr1 and run the verify it has problems. An error occurs, every tool ( corrupt or invalid file. Contact your local mastercam dealer. ) If you click ok, it does its best to use the tool and errors again on the next tool. It does not look correct when finished. With the hint Eric W gave, I went and looked at the Settings, Configuration, verify settings in X2 and they are the same as X3mr1. It is set to "as defined" as the default. Changed this to "Auto" in X3mr1 and the error goes away and the part runs verify and looks correct. So what I am saying is that all the settings are the same as X2 and I am getting different results. Should this setting be set to "auto" or "as defined"?
  12. I know exactly what you are saying. I have used calc from material since they invented it. I asked my reseller about this yesterday and they were going to contact CNC today to ask if this is something we can modify.
