    Jerky Fadal

Thanks for all the help. I will try it asap. I'm kind of bogged down on other projects right now.
  2. When we mill an arc with our Fadal VMC, it seems to jerk alot. Almost as if it pauses after each line before making the next move. This only occurs when doing arcs, other movements seem fine. Thanks in advance for any help.
  3. Millturn, Your idea worked. Thanks to you and all others for the help.
  4. I have one more Fadal post question for you guys. When the post is at the machine the beginning of the program with the proram info is numbered like normal lines of a program are. Then when the actual program starts the numbering of the lines starts over again. When we try to run the program it will stop after it reads the first part of the program. We then have to go into the program at the machine and renumber the lines. Is there some way such as editing the post that we can use to avoid editing the program at the machine. Thanks.
  5. Mike You are my MC dealer but I wanted to try it myself first for the sake of getting experience. If I can't get it to go, expect a call. If you recall, I called about a week ago to get the latest fadal post. Great service by the way!
  6. On our Fadal, we have trouble milling some arcs. The problem is when it does some arcs it will go off a wrong direction. In the post the arc output is set on 2 which is R signed negative over 180. Based on previous post I feel I should change this to 0= IJK. My question is how do you change it in the post. When I go to file, list, pst, I can get the post but I can't make changes. Should I just be able to type changes or what? How do I edit. Thanks for any help.
  7. To all who helped I want to say Thank You! Our MC dealer is Mike Mattera from Shopware Inc. He deserves a Thank You for the help as well as the very quick response time sending me a new post. Thanks again.
  8. Thanks for the help. We got the latest post from our dealer and that cleared up the problems. Now the only glitch is the first line of our program reads 09999. The program name doesn't appear untill line 3 so the machine thinks the program name is 9999. Since we can't save every program as 9999, how do we get it to read the real file name on line 3?
  9. Thanks for the responses guys but it still isn't working. It won't recieve a program in format 2. When I put it in format 2 I get an error that says wrong O-word. This happens using the mpfan post. The mpfadal.pst is what we've been trying all the while without luck.
  10. One glitch I forgot to mention was that when we drill, it always skips the first drill hole. If we're only drilling one hole it doesn't drill any if we're drillig ten holes it skips the first and drills the other nine.
  11. We just bought a remanufactured Fadal VMC and the program is giving us trouble. When we post the first line of the program looks like this: N1 o0000(file name) The trouble is we have to go in every time and change the letter o to a 0 like the other four 0's. A little farther down in the program we get a E1 for the fixture offset which is fine but sometimes we get an E0 instead which we again have to edit. How can this be corrected? Do we have to edit the post, which I've never done. Do we need to get a different Fadal post from the dealar. (Both of our current Fadal post give us the same problem) Or is there some other way to fix this? Thanks in advance for any help!
  12. Thanks to all those yesterday who helped me out. Now I have a new problem. I dumped version9 and loaded version9.1 using the disk. Now when I shut the computer down and restart MC I get a warning that says "c:mcam9/temp/db.ovf" If I say ok to this warning or try to close it I get a not enough memory warning and MC shuts down. Any help will be greatly appreciated! As was said yesterday some of us are good machinist or toolmakers and good programmers but general computer skills are lacking. It would be nice if mastercam could simplify downloading patches and updates.
  13. lilgit, I don't feel any country who isn't willing to step up and do thier part in the world has a right to an opinion. No one can deny Hussien had to be dealt with. It's too bad the U.S. had to do all the dirty work without the support of it's so called allies who are sometimes little more then parasites living off our enonomy. The U.S. looses people in the middle east and the world says we did it just for oil. Maybe the world should ask itself where it gets it's oil from.
  14. I'm having trouble with my mastercam and was hoping for help. I have version9 with solids. I had version 9.0 and tried updating to 9.1 sp1. I got it to download but now I have other problems. When I open Mastercam I get a warning that says: Wrong version of pskernal.dll loaded Version 13.2 found Version 14.1 required Problems with solids inevitable When I try to do a toolpath of any kind, I'll select my geometry, but when I hit done I'll get a warning that says "Mill9 exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry. Then mastercam will close rather I choose to send the error report or not. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here's a good example of what can be done with old machines. The tech school I went to used old government surplus lathes, mills and boring bars. Many of them still had property of the U.S. Navy tags on them. They were World War Two vintage. The cnc lathe was an old tape machine. These machines were old relics that have been abused by students for decades but still turn out great parts. Students seem to learn more with these then new machines that make it easy for them.
  17. It would seem that the custom bikes you see being built on TV are only nice if you take a quick glance and don't really check it out or plan to ride it. A truely discriminating buyer would cringe at some of this stuff.
  18. The thing I can't understand about the Democratic candidates is their pledge to repeal the Bush tax cut. Can't the general public understand that this is the same as raising taxes. When was the last time someone got elected after promising to take more of your money?
  19. About the decision to go with Fadal. The Haas would have suited us very well and I really liked it. The guys who write the checks felt the Fadal was the way to go. I think they felt a VMC had some production potential if it was ever needed. We have lost toolroom machines in the past to production. But I guess thats just the way it goes. I still really can't say a bad thing about my employer.
  20. Thanks to all who replied. We ended up buying a Fadal 2016 VMC. It's a remanufactured one that cost about $10,000 less then new. It may be a little more then we need in the toolroom right now but it has alot of potential for future work. Thanks again.
  21. I know this has been touched on in the past but I'd like to hear any new opinions people have on the Haas toolroom mill. It seems like a nice machine for toolroom use. The price seems pretty good too. For around $30,000 you get one with a better control and tool changer. Any comments would be appreciated.
  22. Thanks for the responses. Our work for the new machine would consist of light machining of tool steel. We do do some graphite milling. We're looking at smaller VMC'c. One more question, if you had a $45,000 budget for a new VMC, what would you buy? Thanks again.
  23. I was just curious if anyone out there had any experiences running Hurco VMC's. Please share both good and bad stories. We are considering buying one for tool room use. Thanks for any and all feedback!
  24. I agree that the Indians live in the conditions they do because they aren't forced to change. In northern Wisconsin there aren't alot of good jobs around period. If they want a better life style, move to a area with more potential income. Success isn't going to come to you, you have to go to it. I feel no pity what so ever fot the Indians in Wisconsin. This isn't racist or anything like it. It's just reality. With the income they generate from their casinos they should be able to put all their kids through college to better their chances for success. Enough already with this pity for every social group. People whining about their reasons for not doing well only spits in the faces of others who lived through the same ordeals, rose up out of it and went on to better things.
  25. Thanks for all your help. I got it to go with alot of fine tuning on the settings.
