  1. That makes sense.. our server was having issues that day. I double clicked the MX5 icon on my desktop and nothing happened. I waited a while, (at least 30 to 40 seconds) double clicked again and about five min later (grrr!! ) the warning of double instance came up. I clicked on "no" for running multipal instances, but I guess the damage was already done. Thank you! I'll be sure from now on to wait at least 5 min. before trying to open again. (or at least checking my task manager before trying again) This sounds kinda like a bug no? Any idea if anyone is going to address this issue? Thanks again!! Wow, they got rid of the cheers emoticon? I haven't been on the forum in a while.
  2. The same thing just happened to me, same error. running X5 MU1 I have a question for you gcode...any ides why this happened? I'd like to avoid this happening again. I do know that I am going to save a backup file, mine got over written as I started up mastercam this morning... Thanks in advance.
  3. Material Removal by machining is required. The horizontal bar indicates that material removal by machining is required to produce the surface and that the material must be provided for that purpose. (if there is a number attached it indicates the amount of stock to be removed by machining.) Sorry, on closer viewing of your post, your describing a diamond/check mark correct? If so, I have no help for you, please let us know what it is if possible. [ 05-28-2010, 02:33 PM: Message edited by: Deleoan ]
  4. Yes, wear comp. a must!. and use tangent in lead in and lead out. This has worked for me even 1/10 of the tool dia.
  5. Thanks everyone for your input, as usual you have all been a great help.
  6. quote: or just analyze the geo and change there yes. hotkey: F4 I love hot keys!
  7. quote: We really should start a thread on what we like about X versions or we're gonna give CNC a complex! what do you like would this fall under that catagory?
  8. quote: what make/model is your graphics card?NVIDIA GeForce 9400 GT quote: but you have to press the "ALT" key first to for force Mcam into keyboard shortcut modeThanks! I was under the impression that I had to hold down the "ALT" key. that's why I hated it. quote: What you can do is right-click on the problem chain and choose Reverse Chain. This works for the most part, but I believe that it has caused issues with toolpath climb/conventional in the past.
  9. Seems to me that I can reverse chains, but not change sides individually.
  10. I have an issue with editing multiple chains once selected. If I for some reason selected the entities incorrectly, (some contours inside, some outside) I can not change them individually. If out of 9 chains, chain 5 is incorrect, when I highlight that chain in chain manager and change sides, all chains change sides. The only work around I have found is to re-select geometry. I remember in the past being able to change them individually, I dont recall when this issue first started. X3? X4? I jumped from version 9 to X3. currently X4 mu2. anyone else have this issue? I also believe that in the past, while selecting the entities, the green arrow would show which side and direction the tool path was oriented. Now it only shows direction, which means that I sometimes don't know there is an issue untill I have set and accepted all the parameters. While I am ranting, I personally miss the single key hot keys! [ create/ line/ parallel/side/dist] I used to just press "C,L,L,S" That took me a fraction of a fraction of a second to accomplish. Your thoughts? Is there anything that you miss from past versions?
  11. I have had simular issues never really got much help... still mostly unresolved. Is this simular to your problem? look for the link "backplot vs verify" you may notice the taper in the screen shot.
  12. quote: Nope, if you have to ask, I'd likely suggest V 8.1.1LOL funny john, but we are very busy, lots of new prototypes, and I dont have the time for new issues. At least I am aware of the current ones, and I know the workarounds. As for me x4 has been pretty stable as far as crashing goes, crashed only three times total, over many months. But finding the workarounds was time cunsuming for me. I'd rather not install more issues. I'd rather wait till all "known" issues are resolved. Thanks everyone for your responses keep them comming! The poll is open untill tuesday. I will make my decision at that time.
  13. I have not installed the MU1 for X4, I have been seeing a lot of posts about verify problems as well as other issues. So I would like your opinions please.
  14. Hmm. I think I understand. Must be frustrating (not being able to be clear). Thanks for your help. I'll just have to wait it out for Mu1 or X5
  15. Thanks ron. So, is this a known bug? quote: but till it is fixed all I am aware you can do. No one else has seemed to have this problem.
  16. Not sure if this is going to work, but I'm trying to link prior post to this one. Backplot vs Verify oh and glad I was wrong...GO BRONCOS...5-0
  17. I found somewhat of a "workaround" for my particular problem...Any verify I do is incorrect with the exception of drilling, as long as I only verify the last op (drilling)(even if it is not nessessary) the stock update is correct. Therefore I can at least see the correct part in verify. Just can not watch it machine it. quote: GO BRONCOS! 4-0!! We'll have to see how they do against the Pats. Wish them the best but I think it'll be 4-1
  18. quote: Are you running mastercam x4? All other versions of mastercam required .net 3.0 but x4 requires 3.5.Yes Running x4, and 3.5 is installed. quote: Good to see a new member from Colorado on this forum.Hey mark, good to be here...I guess! wish I was here helping others instead of receiveing it! Did you go to the Broncos' vs. Dallas game? Wow what a rush!! I have always been a workin stiff. That was my first time at a game, and what a game it was!! quote: That setting will most likely give you problems. It's better to turn it off and use a backup utility instead. Thanks for the info I'll give it a shot. Thanks everybody for your insight...Still dont know what's up with my verify though
  19. quote: Hope you saved your work!Yes Auto save - every 45 min. (life saver) quote: just kill it in task manager.yeah already did. just never encountered that before. Thanks evil... can I call you evil? lol
  20. O.k still having issues with the verify for lathe (unresolved). see post "why is my backplot offset from verify" (I would link the post if I knew how..could someone else do this?) Again backplot looks good but verify way off. My verify is just not doing what I programmed, or how the back plot is showing. Its like completely different tool paths! Here's the thing, if I verify every op, the part is almost gone. However, if I verify last op the updated stock looks good.(untill I run the verify, which just wipes out the part) But that's another matter. I chose to shut down Mastercam, to see if it would then work. Started up, still no change. Thats when everything vanished! I tried to close the software again and... "improper argument" Now Mastercam will not close... Any suggestions? Thanks in advance...this has been a bad day for me. I'm going out for a beer after work for sure!
  21. quote: Try to uncheck "center on axis" in verify options Mike, tried that...still no change. Does no one else have this problem? Is it how I am setting up my wcs? I program all profiles wcs top as well as t/c. but I program c-axis wcs top t/c right. Is this where i am going wrong? I have had no training in mastercam. but I never had problems in version 9. But x3, x4, serious issues. [ 10-02-2009, 04:22 PM: Message edited by: Deleoan ]
  22. Thanks for your reply Superman, I gave it a try, however it still does not solve the problem I am having. my stock is in the correct position in both backplot and verify. Every operation (except c-axis) works for both. the c-axis toolpaths are not correct (only verify), but backplot and code just fine. In this case my wcs is .511 from world home. In order to see the path in verify I have to set my depth of cut an additional -0.511. (only in c-axis face contour) otherwise in verify tool never even touches part. As you can see above the backplot is correct. However this is the closest the tool gets in verify under the same parameters. notice also the taper in the verified part? The backplot shows no taper as per programmed.
  23. Thanks Murray, I'll give it a go. nice benchmark by the way!
  24. I would also like to know how to post screenshots.. I know how to take a screen shot, I just don't know how to add them to this forum. Thanks in advance
  25. Hello all, X4 lathe Does anyone else have this problem? backplot fine, code fine, but verify way off? (only in c-axis). Facing, grooving, profiling, ect. all verifies just fine. only c-axis is off. I program from a solid, I never move the solid, I just create a new wcs. Is this the problem? It seems to me that verify is always connected to the mastercam origin, not the wcs that I create. The difference that the verify is off in c-axis is exactly the distance that my origin is from the system origin. Should I move the solid to mastercam's origin instead of creating new wcs?
