  1. hi every one recently upgraded to 9.1 router and now my post will only output 1 digit after the decimal in the feedrate (F15.1 ). what do i look for in the post to make it output to 3 digits after decimal (F15.123)? i program for a waterjet and in the 3-5" thick stuff i need the much lower feeds. thanks Bob Hydrotech cutting
  2. Jimmy if i change the chain tolerance do i have to rechain all or just regen? i hope i dont have to rechain all there are hundreds of chains. both inside and outside. lots of places to mess up.
  3. If you like Peter while you are in town you could stop by and i could show you what happens. so far i have only had the problem on this one file. but it is a repeat job fairly often but not often enough to start over from scratch. could be a hundred hours or more to restart from original eps file. 4. i am not using lead in- lead out. i am not sure how we updated the post. i was not with the company when they changed from V7 to V8. as far as i know it is the same post not updated. because when i started there in january the old computer i had had both versions on it and i used the same post for them. How do i update the post? it is a very simple post only xy outputs and water on off. no z or canned cycles Bob HYDROTECH CUTTING
  5. hello all i am having problems posting an old program made in V7. we are a waterjet company so it is not a complex program just lots and lots of itti bitti parts nested together. It is the canadian coat of arms. and the problem i am having is when i repost in V8 it is cutting little tiny cicles on the tool path that are not supposed to be there. when i look at the output code i dont see any thing wrong. and when i look at the chain in v8 nothing wrong either. i just upgraded the computer and i have not reinstalled V7 yet, so i can not try reposting from there.i did not make the original program. it was made more than 3 yrs ago. my boss would really like this fixed. so far what i have had to do is redraw each part that is corrupt. and like i said they are itti bitti little parts and hundreds of them too. and more than half are bad. i am hoping some one here can help. I can post the file on the ftp tomorrow evening if that could help. forgot to bring it home with me tonight. do not have highspeed at work . TIA BOB HYDROTECH CUTTING
  6. zt909 I have the harley logo if you like. I could send it to you. send you email and i will get it on the way Bob the lurker
  7. My boss has asked me to look into upgrading from 8.1.1 to 9.1. and the the one problem that we keep seeing is our post. We have 2 FLOW waterjet machines with lynx controls and the post we have is very old. I was wondering if there was a post that could be modified fairly easily? Our post doesn't do anything very fancy. MI 1 is G00 x0 y0. we dont use g54 or anything like that. Here is a small sample of code G00 X1 Y1 M07 (turns on jet) G01 X3 F20.0 Y3 X1 Y1 M08 G04 /0.4 (turns off jet) G00 X? Y? Etc... ... G00 X0 Y0 (if mi1 set to 1 go home if set to 0 do nothing) % and not by design but it works if we use a drill cycle and put a drill depth it will see the linear move on z and turn on and off the jet to pop start holes. our post strips out all z moves. i guess what i would like to know is if there is a post on the cd that could do that or be modified fairly easily to do that. would the post editing help cd be any good to me to to that. TIA Bob
  8. My boss was pleased with what i did with the post. And now he would like me to look into fixing something else in it. We need to fix up the post so we can use a drill cycle and pierce some holes. we need the program to position, turn on waterjet (m07), pause (variable amount of time depending on material), turn off waterjet (m08),pause, go to next position, repeat. Can it be done? Got to remember we have an old post for MC7 i was told. dont know what post it started out as. I just started there monday. Thanks for all that will ( I hope ) help me making the boss happy. Bob [ 01-16-2004, 05:20 PM: Message edited by: bob231068 ]
  9. hard coding it to output the g04 is what i was looking for. thanks. But what is the scoolant option? what would i have to change and how would it work? Bob
  10. I would like some help in editting our post for our waterjet. We have to manually edit all of the M08 ( jet off) and replace with M08 G04 /0.3 ( jet off pause 0.3 sec) so we dont cut through part on rapid to next point. Where would i chand it in the post to out put it how i want it? It is an old post from MC7. boss never updated it to 8.1.1 . We have MC7 and mc 8.1.1. use same post for both. Not asking for a post just some help just putting that in for some fire protection )) Bob
  11. I am looking into getting the nesting option and before i get the boss to sigh the check i want to know if it is worth it or not. We are a waterjet company and thats all. we could do hundreds of the same part or hundreds of different parts on the same sheet. How good is it at nesting different parts over mutiple sheets of stock? what about same part many times on same sheet? Thanks for all of your input. Bob
  12. Thanks all for your help. I ended up doing as ROBK said. worked great. blended perfect. Thanks again Bob
  13. How would you go about programing a large chamfer but you have to use a chamfermill thats smaller than finished size. I have a 1/4 inch chamfer to put on 3 edges of a part and the biggest chamfer mill i have is 5/8 dia. OSG with 1 insert. i am missing about .04 on rad. i know i could shift in and up and do it but there must be something in mc that would be easier Thanks for all your help Bob
  14. Thanks for your help. I knew it was very easy. in my old shop we had a misc. variable to set it and thats all i knew. but now at the new shop not the same. Thanks again you all are great i bow before your greastness. Robert
  15. I everyone. I have been just looking for a while now but I have a question for all who can help. It is really simple. but i am having brain freeze. where in MC do you specify what wcs (g54, G55, G56...) to use. I told you it was an easy one.. Robert
  16. I am looking to build a new computer for home. I mostly play games but now and then I have to do some home work on MC 8/9. There is just so many hours I can spend at home before it starts to get buggy there. I am looking for a good grafics card that will run MC but not the real high end pro cards. I have searched the forum and you guys seem to love the geforce4 ti4200. but around my place they dont have it any more. discontinued. but they do have the new FX series. What do you all think about this new cards and which one would you recommend. my wife is hoping i dont have to break the bank either. Thanks Bob
