  1. Thanks guys. I guess I learned somethin today.. Monday and all.
  2. What is the Mastercam X2 ATP download???
  3. As mentioined above.. I would start at about 100 rpm and conventional cut. If you're using a concave slitting saw (about 36 teeth) .0005 sounds about right. If you're using a screw slotting saw (132 teeth) I would try .0002 per tooth with 3 depth cuts. I agree good place to start. Was that Canadian Beer.... right.?? Cheers
  4. I can't wait till X2. But will X2 be ablt to create a safty zone by reognizing the solid part, or worse case at least be able to recognise the the stock.??????
  5. its on FTP MC9 folder ATT Jack N 2 files (MC9 & .zip)
  6. I have done twisted geometry before and I have had reasonable success using 5axis swarf toolpaths. I attached the file with a 5 axis swarf I created on one of the surfaces. Created a tool plane offset 45 degrees and set point generators every 0.1 degrees. You might be able to add more surf to the drive surfs and see if you can get it to run all around. Or you might have to create several 5 axis swarf toolpaths and pick each surfs etc seperatly at there on unique toolplane. Needs some tuning but I think this route will work. I haven’t got time right now, but you do have me interested. Best of luck,
  7. Jack, I got your email yesterday. I got something that might work using swarf 5 axis. I tried emailing it to you but I keep getting postmaster errors with undelivarbale mail. I tried zipping file. I even renamed the zip to get past fire walls. email doesn;t seem to be workin, where do you want me to put it on the forum ftp.???
  8. Hi Jack, I would mind fidilin with some kewl 4-5 axis toolpaths. Maybe I can help. E-mail some of the files if you get a chance. [email protected] So how did you like the transition from V9 to V10? We are still using V9 we have had some machine definition and posting issues with V10.
  9. Is there a significant change between MCX SP1 versus MCX MR1???
  10. It would be cool if they had it updated for MR1. I guess if they dont; I don't know if want ti install MR1 yet. Matt, did you happen to have any luck diggin up Super Trim tutorials.
  11. Billh, I'm running, MCX SP1. Question: Is the MR1 a direct dowload, or is there a CD to be issued???
  12. Hi all, I have been looking at help files in MCX about Moldplus. There is a help file that uses tutorials to explain Molplus functionality. However I can not seem to find any tutorial file that explains the Supertrim functionality. Is there any Supertrim tutorial available??? Regards
  13. Russel, I do agree, stretch doesn't seem to work as well in X. I can select geom ok, but to actually stretch in the direction you want is like impossible for me. In V9 all you has to do is window (intersect) the geom, then hit x-.25 or y.1 etc and the geom would stretch relative to th c-plane you were currently in. V 10 is frustrating in that regard . I simply want to do what was so simple in V9.
  14. In version 9 I could xform stretch geometry. Worked real good. But how do I do that in V10.????
  15. Before in V9 I used Cimco Editor all the time. It had a nice little icon in the menu bar that would jump next or previous tool change. Where in the X editor can you enable that funcion or somethin simular?????
  16. Any recomendations as to what setup sheet method works good, and gives a visual reprensentaion of tools and setup?
  17. Hi all, In version 9 I really like using the customisible setup sheet that I downloaded from the forum. It ran as a c-hook. It was called Setup Sheet V1.05 by GMCCS. However I can get it to run in Mcam X. It will not read th c-hook. Any sugestions?
  18. What about Prodrill????? Will it follow Molplus?
  19. We use carbide d-lip blanks. Grind the inclusive angle to 90 or 60 deg point, with 8-12 deg back releif as well as 8 deg relif on very tip. Chain the letter text as window contours, and machine to a depth of 0.005 to 0.008" deep. It works very well, and looks very professional.
  20. Deleting the splines works for me. Thanks. There is a lot of 3d programming using a-axis for rotational positioning. However the geometry is hexagonal that twists 97 degrees over 26". I wonder if I could apply a flowline toolpath and substitute y fo a in hopes that the tool would stay normal to surface.??? ANy ideas???? As well the outside surface that twists is covered with pockets about .300" deep staying normal to the twisted surface. Any helpful hints with regard to the toopathe best suited would be greatly appreciated. Regards Kevin
  21. Hi all, I am trying to program a file that is 98MB in size. When I do screen statistics, it says there is one solid body, 480 lines, and 23,000 splines. I have a 2.4 GHZ, Pentium 4, 80 Gig IDE, Quatro 4 video card, for a computer. My computer acts very sluggish, when I save I wait 5-6 mins. When ex-form rotate, I wait 10 mins, and sometimes pc locks up and crashes. Screen regenerarte takes a while to. I'm not to sure just how long it will take to actually process a multisurface toolparh on it.... My question to you guys is there any adjustments that I can make in Mastercams configuration to help improve efficiency while working with a file of this size. NAy help would be greatly appreciated. Regards
  22. Steve, I checked it out. Looks good. Thanks very much.
  23. Hi all, Does anyone know if there is tutorials available for learning all the features available with these addins? Or will it take a lot of reading the help files to get things working to show the boss that the price was worth it?? Any sugestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance
  24. I've got Version 6 manual of advanced Mill and Design. It worked good for me 6 years ago when I first learned Mastercam in college. I'm fairly negotiable on price. Just give me an offer and we can make arangements. Regards
