  1. Never Mind..... Got it to work. Thanks again!
  2. Just started in X9 today. And Yes I want that "Repaint" option...... 'cause I want the darn thing OFF! I have a hundred toolpaths on my screen. Can't even see the part anymore.
  3. Fluff sells. If X9 was your first seat of MasterCam ever, you would think that the time it takes for these windows and applications to come up, was normal.
  4. ^^^^^ That was going to be my suggestion. It works in X8.
  5. Still with X8 and yes there is a delay in the edit tool window to come up. PITA. Similar delay in Model Prep>Modify Solid Feature, and really long delay for Verify. But relatively speaking. At Home with V9, OMG that software is so cumbersome. How did we get anything done? Bill K
  6. I'm wondering if it's the converters in X*. I'm going to try to open these files in X^ to see if there is a difference. I have received many mold design from this guys, and they came in great. Now all of a sudden,(X8) things have turn to %*$!. Thanks for your help!
  7. Hey Thanks. Never would have thought that the revolved cut or protrusion would cause that much trouble. Drilled holes, that's what I use Revolved for. Would it be better to just make a cut for the drill body, and the another cut with 61 degree drafted walls? Why is it, that having a little flat on the tip of a drill point will make the cut better, or less math for the conversion? Bill
  8. We're going to try to open the native ProE file up in Solidworks. Oh, by the way.... Thanks for your help! Bill
  9. Sorry Nope. I think I already broke a few rules just by sharing the file.
  10. We had .stp and .x_t files. Both didn't come into MasterCam good. So we opened them in Solidworks and repaired them. We had Solidworks convert to .x-t and brought that in. I thought it looked good. Didn't realize it was a sheet solid until I wanted to make modifications. The rest of the mold assembly came in great, just this one core is giving us trouble.
  11. Really? Why did the model import in, as a sheet solid? Why can't I add a solid body to a sheet solid? Really, what I want to do is change the Screw holes and dowel pin holes to a different size. Solids are fun, but some times they really tick me off! Sheet solid core.mcx-8
  12. We have two machines with Floppy emulators in them. It was recommended to us, to use 2Gb or smaller USB pen drives. You will be re formatting the USB pen drives to have 1.4mb sectors. So if you were thinking that you would be able to take a 2Gb file and send it through the USB drive..... Not the case. Still limited to, max 1.4mb file size. Ours are cumbersome, but still useful. But most of the time we just communicate with RS232 cable and Cimcoedit. Bill
  13. Feed and depth of cut depends on what material you are cutting and integrity of your machine. Your RPM's of course is gonna be as much of the 12,000 that you can go for a long period of time. We usually run about 11,500-11,800 on our 12,000 RPM spindle. ( OK so they are Haas. What can I do? That's what the boss buys.) Rough Step over is usually .015 and .01 Deep. Finish Step Over is .003 Feed can be as little as 5 IPM or less, if it's a small area that you are cutting, and I would go as much as 25 or 30 IPM in big open flat areas. It depends on the detail. Good Luck. Experiment.
  14. "The" CNC Software forum? Which one is that? That can't be the real name of the forum... Need more clues, please. I ask because we have numerous seats of various levels. We have Nhasp X, that came with our seats. It only shows how many seats available, how many being used. Not who is using them. That would be nice to be able to tell who the users are. I heard Solidworks has a utility that is able to tell you what computer is using what license. That's what I'm looking for. Thanx Bill K
  15. Precision Brand. These have a nice split point design. Second choice, Gurhing. No matter what brand you choose, always look at the point under a microscope to make sure they were ground on center. Bill K
  16. Jayson, Thanks so much for your help. I've shown everybody else in the shop this function, and now we have 8 differently looking MasterCam interfaces. I'm not using the #7 color theme, I have found the #12 gives me good contrast on the icon buttons. Thanks again Bill K
  17. Glad to hear it worked out for you. That was one of the first things I figured out after the X8 upgrade. Now if I could only figure out how to change the color of the back round of the icon bars????? Bill K
  18. My first question is: Did you save the "Setting Customize" file from X7? If so: Go to Settings, Customize, then go to the "Context Menu" tab. In the middle of the window, hit the "Import" button, find you X7 file and Import it. All of you Right Mouse Button, Drop down menu items should show up in the right hand side of the window. There you go. Don't forget to apply and save it.
  19. Now Thad, That is a great idea! That's why you get paid the big bucks. I'll give that a try. Thanks, Bill K
  20. Yeah. They can't make that change fast enough for me. It is not unusual for me to have to open assembly files of a mold, with close to 200 components. Please, Please, hurry and make a check box in the config, to turn this new level naming thing, off. It is a PITA to un-name 175 levels. Bill K
  21. Two quick questions: 1. How do I change the color of the toolbar backround color? easily? I'm sure it's a Windows thing, but I just don't like the light gray. Too cold looking. 2. How do I get all of the toolbars to justify to the right margin? Even after I move them all over to the right, the next time I start-up MasterCam, they justify to the left. I know these are silly things, but I want it to be the way I WANT it. Thanks, Bill K
