  1. Was recently at a dealer organized Mastercam event that was attended by Mike Rosa, great guy who can relate to our problems as he uses the software to machine stuff just like us. Anyway he showed us a new option on the 2D contour toolpath - ZigZag, that basically keeps the tool down as it does its multiple side passes - very handy. But i can't find it anywhere, was sure that it was on the Cut Parameters Page in the Contour Type drop down. Wondering if he was showing us some of the new X7 stuff ?

  2. Whether is is in the books or not, i don't suspect or expect it this soon.

There are so many X2, 3, 4, 5, bugs that are still prevalent in X6 that I am sure

between those, and the X6 exclusive ones, will take some time to debugamafy them.

I can wait, because as the track record stands, they usually have to add an MU2 or 3 to rid

them all. Otherwise MU1 may lack some.

Come on Rick we all know that MU1 won't fix all the issues that have been in every release since X, why suddenly decide to fix isssues that have been around for last five releases now !!

  3. I have just recently upgraded from X2 the MCfSW X5 and I'm having some file configuration issues. I have attached a PDf file which I hope will explain my problem.

Has anyone else experienced a similar or the same problem.

Try changing it in your machine definition, general machine parameters, tool library tab.

  4. Thanks for explaining that gcode. I have a hard time transferring thoughts to text some times so I would have made it more confusing.

G-codes method of changing the offset values is the most reliable. It works EVERY time without a glitch. Most of my files have 200+ operations. You can imagine how long it takes to do what he is saying. Now think about the files that have 600+ operations which we have several of as well. I have used several other methods of converting the numbers but the more convenient the method, the less reliable. (excluding post mods obviously).

The two machines that are going out the door next week are the last that use different D and H values. Hopefully this will be a distant memory for me within the next year. It would still be nice to see this issue get fixed!

Wow 200+ or even 600+ operations - thats insane - you either work on some very large, or complex parts and/or you programming is very inefficient

Ive never done anything over 100 on some realtively complex molds and that makes my brain hurt. big ups to you.

  5. David, support at In_house has sent it in.

I gotta get a job job done but I will have Chris from in-house contact you directly.

    Thanks

    Cheers

have had it change "stock shape" to file and your latest file, a number of times. It even sticks next time you start a new part. very frustrating. if you reload your config it seems to cure the problem for a while !!

  6. Filter setting have no effect on this regen time. There is no multitreading going on with this toolpath. I just freezes stuff up and then pops up finished. Bug?

Im using X5 and get exactly the same issues. Tested as you have with no luck, so for us this has been added to the redundant toolpath box at this stage !

  7. We have the MCX interface and i do use it to output the cutters/holders - BUT you have to be carefull to check and adjust them if doing tricky low clearance work as vericut does not define them properly as far as the shank and cutter is concerned. CGTech have told me this is due to the mastercam tool manager not outputing enough info.

I still feel it is quicker to use the interface to get your basic tool list and geometry then modify from there. It just seems so frustrating having to build a tool list for vericut when you have only just done it for mastercam.

Fingers crossed that with the improving tool manager in mastercam that vericut will be able to start defiing cutters/holders more accurately in the near future.

  8. are you sure you cannot customise the standard mastercam activereports? I have not tried to but I would have thought it possible...

Good question, pretty sure I asked Ruth Delise about this and couldn't be done but on looking at it now i can't see why not. Will look into this some more.

  9. Looks OK

    see the attached screen shot

I ran your file through the stock metric Hass trunion post and got output on 3 planes

    G0 G54 G90 Y18.355 B-90. A45.01 S10000 M3

    B-157.507 A67.549

    B-151.517 A-50.983

Thanks Gcode, looks like i will be loading up X6 then even just to use this feature.

  10. I believe that you should be able to do this by going into the tool manager, right clicking and selecting import/export tools --> report or detailed report. I'm using X5 MU1

Yes this is correct but not customizable and the basic one is too basic and the detailed one too detailed for our needs.

  11. Can anyone tell me if this has been fixed in X6.

    My link

I haven't installed X6 yet and am wondering if it is worth it before MU1 , but I use this function an increasing amount and am finding having to revert to X4 is frustrating as X5 is just so much faster and is what i am used to now as i do all our other programming in it.

I have loaded up a X4 test file to the ftp site for testing if someone could help me out. It is in the X4_Files folder and called "Thread Test X4". If it works correctly in X6 you should see it creating the holes at the centres of the numbered holes on the angled faces.

    Thanks in advance.

  12. We have a Limited Vericut licence that just covers our 5 axis machine and 99% of what i put in there goes through vericut first as it is just too costly and time consuming to manually check every retract and index move , but these definitly need checking outside of mastercam. Very seldom do I get a completely gouge/clearance issue free toolpath out of mastercam first time when doing complex 5 axis work. As for 3 axis, run it through verify, check for gouges, if none i set it up and walk away. This is the huge difference between 3 axis and 5 axis work. Table/Table 5 axis machines aren't as taxing as head/table machines tho.

  13. I here your frustration and this is why I am currently still using X+ in X5 for tool lists. I did actually request for there to be a link to the toolmanager page that we could use in the active reports program so that we could use active reports to generate just a tool list from here without reading all the ops. Don't have X6 installed yet so don't know if it has been implimented ?

  14. Looking for someone with Expierence in Programming 5 axis with Mastercam and 5 axis machining.

We Have a 5 axis DMG HSC 75 Linear with and Erowa Pallet system. Heidenhain Control iTNC530

PM me if interested and I will send you and email that you can send your Resume.

We are Located in SLC, UT.

What is your line of work. i.e mold , aerospace ?

  15. You just need to match the tool numbers to the pocket numbers in the pocket table and set all the pockets to fixed, only take a couple of minutes you do not need to call DMG. Tool Table-Pocket Table-match the first two columns (tool # and pocket #) and then activate the fourth column (F) for each tool.

This is how we do it, could be changed by an operater though so maybe a parameter lock is better.

  16. Guys,

Is there currently a way to have the final depth of cut finish pass and the final Multi Pass finish pass be done at the same time without creating a new contour operation. Currently the only way that it seems to output is the final depth cut then it outputs the final Multi Pass. I know this seems elementary, but I hardly ever write a program that I don't end up at least once having to create a separate finishing routine. Same deal with speeds and feeds for finish passes.

Or should this become an enhancement request?

    Husker

As far as I know there is no way to do this .
