  1. One of the toolbar states I created in McamX4 was a no toolbars Machine Sim state, I noticed that McamX5 is doing it automagically

Good to know that they identified it as a bug

I have same issue with toolbars not reloading except it is when I try to change back to my custom tool bar from one of the default ones.

  2. My custom toolbar state will load fine from startup, but if I change to a different mastercam toolbar state and then try to change back to my custom toolbar state (the default) it doesn't load and then X5 locks up and I have to shut it down via the task manager. Is anyone else having trouble with X5 custom toolbar states?

I have my toolbar, keymap and config files in the default user locations.

  3. I have it set using the micro-lifts function so the tool retracts .002" in "Z" between cuts and "rapids" to the next cut where it then ramps back down to the correct z-value. There is a way to adjust the toolpath to do what you are asking, however, as we only have high speed machines, I have no need to educate myself to do as you asked about.

Good to know, don't have X5 yet as it hasn't been delivered in NZ. Think our DMG will probably handle the same strategy as you are using but doubt the HAAS machines will. Looking forward to doing some testing, X5 looks to have some nice new features.

  4. Have you optioned the cutter to stay down on re-positions or is that the way that the toolpath works, seems that on a slower machine that can't rapid as quick in a contoured motion that the toolpath might be a bit slow unless you could retract Z to reposition in a straigh line format?

  5. Guess what...you already have it. I just used -Setup Sheet (MILL-TOOLS).rpx and -Setup Sheet (MILL-TOOL).rpx files that are located in

your ..\reports\sst folder. You do have to make a few changes to the files to use them as a stand-alone Tool Sheet. Have you used the Active

    Reports Designer program before?

No, but willing to learn, is there any documentation on how to change them ?

  6. GoetzInd - Active Reports is the way to go. With a little scripting I was able to display an image based on the HOLDER-NAME DataField that MC uses. Here's a pdf from Active Reports that shows what I'm talking about. Is this what your looking for?

Hey Thrash, thats a awesome looking tool setup sheet, perfect replacement to the GUI one. Any chance you might distibute a copy of it to me ?

    Thanks

  7. Im away from the office so cant post a screenshot of the part we are machining, but basically the part looks like a round top hat with a top diameter of 8" with a 10 deg tapered flange at the bottom of the diameter, so the angle from the wall to the flange is 100 deg. There are also 3 o-rings on the od. Our machine has a max tilt angle of 90 degrees, so I cant use a swarf toolpath with the side of the tool, instead I will have to use the end of the tool, and probably a 5 axis curve. My problem is getting the endmill to cut the surface flat, with the end of the endmill being angled to the center. I could just surface the face, but was wondering if there may be a formula to set the lead angle to compensate for the end angle of the endmill? I was also thinking a endmill with a flat end, like a c'bore tool would probably work, are these available? The other issue I have is with the o-rings, I would like to tilt my head to 90 degrees and cut them with a endmill, they have a 16 surface finish, and no corner fillets, I could use a small endmill with a stepover, but think a endmill the same width of the slot would give a better finish, if I could get it to cut flat in the center. any suggestions would be appreciated.

If I am understanding what you are trying to achieve, can I suggest that you do some investigation into mill turning of cams/crank shafts as that is how they do it with a offset cutter to produce a almost flat suface on the face of the cam.

  8. Just had an idea, we already have most of our holders modelled for use in mastercam with the new highspeed toolpathes. These are .holder files is there a way I can import these into vericut and save to a library ?

  9. How does everyone setup there tool holders for vericut. Noticed that when you use the link from mastercam that it attaches the arbor part of the tool to the holder in vericut and there is also no allowance for the tool body flange ?

  10. Hi

Can someone please explain to me the behaviour of M130 on a Heidenhain iTNC530 controlled DMG. I have read the manual but does not make complete sense to me in the german english !!

I need to be able to explain this to the people at Vericut to configure the vericut post.

    Thanks

  11. Justin

No need just found that it is only alarming when we try to verify it in the test run mode with graphics. When we run the program in full auto it is ok, turns out that we had only tested it with graphics and assumed because it was alarming there that it would not run. Will ask the training guy about this when he finally turns up in two weeks time.

    Thanks

  12. Hi Justin

Looks very close to the code we are getting , but our machine alarms out on M140 MB MAX. Do you know if there is a machine setting that may be causing this as I can program M140 MB MAX in MDI mode and it works fine but in full auto causes the alarm ?

By the way our post is being written by Postability .

Greg, DMG is not well supported here in NZ, we have been waiting for 8 weeks for training !!! Also i thought talking to mastercam users would hopefully achieve more CAM based code output.

    Thanks Guys

    Mark

  13. Hi

We have purchased a new DMG DMU 60 Monoblock 5 axis mill and are trying to sort out a post for it. Unfortunately I have very limited Heidenhain language experience and therefore am struggling to tell the post writer exactly what the code sould look like , i only know that it isn't write as we get alarms.

If someone is running Mastercam with one of these machines could they please download the X4 part saved on ftp site called DMG TEST BLOCK and post out the code for me to study and show our post writer.

Also the post we currently have wants to send the machine to M140 MB MAX in the tool axis and then to the Tool change home position between every null tool change which seems a waste of time. Also the machine alarms on the M140 MB MAX. Where should I get our post writer to get the M140 MB value from , maybe the clearance plane value set in mastercam ? and then remove the move to tool change positon , unless changing tools ?.
