  1. I am new to X5 and see that there is a "Trace Image" Toolbar. When I display the toolbar, all I get is a very small box that I cannot do anything with. Antbody know what this is or how it works? Thanks
  2. I read that there was a hot key to temporarily turn off auto cursor by hold down the Control key. Apparently that doesn't work right, at least it didn't work for me.
  3. I adjusted my autocursor settings and can get it to work as you described. But I still dont understand how the hot key works?
  4. So how does this hot key for auto cursor work? If I press and hold the control key, shouldn't it allow me to select two lines? That doesn't work.
  5. I am trying to create an angular dimension. When I try and select two non parallel lines, the auto cursor wants to select points. Which makes it impossible to get a correct angular dimension. I know I can just turn off auto cursor, but constantly doing that is non-productive. I searched and found that you can temporarily turn off auto cursor with control key. When I do that, the lines cannot be selected. So, I am confused how this hot key for auto cursor works. Can someone enlighten me? Thanks
  6. Is there any way to change icon sizes in X5? Just started using X5 from V9 Thanks
  7. Well I have pulled the trigger on upgrading to X5. So my conversion problems will be solved. My reseller has giving me terms that make it easy on me. Now I just have to learn X5 . Thanks for the suggestions. Leehound
  8. I am converting customer files not my own Solidworks files. I know I should upgrade, but when the money comes out of your own pocket........
  9. I am still using V9. Yea I know it's old, so lets not go there! The biggest problem is not being able to read in newer 3D CAD file types. Does anybody know of a stand alone product that will convert the latest Solidworks file into an older parasolid or maybe into a STEP file? Thanks Leehound
  10. Do you have one of these machines? Thanks Leehound
  11. Bruce, Do these machines have full 3 axis interpolation? And do they accept standard G-Code? Thanks Leehound
  12. I have a friend that makes pistal grips by hand, mostly using exotic materials (ivory, stag, ect.) I have made quite a few aluminum grips for him and have made some using the exotic materials. He has a two axis Sherline and wants to move up to something better and do the CNC stuff himself. Unfortunatley the top of his budget is $8000. He wants help in choosing a CNC new or used. The machine really would not need a lot of travel maybe 16" x 12", but it would need to be full 3 axis and be compatable with Mastercam. I would like to see him get an Industrial sized machine, but I dont think that $8000 is enough for a decent used machine. That leaves the Hobbiest type Cnc's. Anybody have experience with a decent CNC (used or new) that would fit his budget? His website: http://spresserknifeworks.itgo.com/ Thanks Leehound
  13. I uploaded KSD0009.sldprt onto FTP into FILE_TO_BE_COVERTED_TO_MC. Can someone please convert this to .MC9 Thanks
  14. I would love to cut a map of the area I live. So this service that you are offering, are you selling table tops or the surface model of an area?
  15. quote: If you do a lot of this you may have to consider either upgrading and/or purchasing the translator Your right. But I hate parting with my hard earned cash. Thanks for your help!
  16. I put a file "137e2333p001_12.prt" on the FTP site in the folder: files_to_be_converted_to_mc Could someone convert this to .MC9 Thanks
  17. quote: export it from SW as a parasolid select version 15 from the dropdown. then bring it into V9 or X I don't have Solidworks so this is not something I can do. I used to be able to open this type of file, but now I can't. There has to be another solution. Thanks Greg for converting this file.
  18. For some reason I cannot open .SLDPRT files from X or V9. I keep getting an error "cannot find parasolid data in solidworks file" A search of this forum came up with a solution: Unregister and Reregister the swdocumentmgr.dll file. I have tried this and still no luck. Anybody know of any other fix? The problem file is "9312model.sldprt" located on the FTP site in the files_to_be_converted_to_MC Can someone convert this to V9 for me. Thanks
  19. Could someone try and convert a file for me. I put 1134284.sldprt into the folder "files to be converted to mc" on the FTP site, I need it converted to V9. Thanks in advance!
