  1. Mick, Are you still looking for help with this? We use CabinetVision and I would be happy to send you whatever you need.
  2. I program and run a Biesse Rover A3.30. It's basically a Pod & Rail machine, but we do have a convertible table that we put on to do nesting. We use Cabinetvision for the nesting and Mastercam or Biesseworks for the shaped and unique products.
  3. Thanks for the reply gcode. I checked that out and I didn't have stock set to visible, but I reset a few things and I still have the same problem.
  4. I finally got a video driver to work with X5 to get a bitmap image to stay on the screen, but after doing a couple of images where I had Raster to Vector create the geo for me it is stuck on one geometry. I have restarted X5, restarted the computer and did a repair install of X5 all to no avail. Every time I use the Raster to Vector c-hook on a new image I can see the new image on the screen, but the geo created is one that I did previously and it's the same one that shows every time no matter what other image I try. I've had to go back to X4 to use the RtoV. Does anyone have a clue where this file is stored?
  5. When I use the Raster to Vector utility to scan a bitmap image into MCX5 all I get is a brief flash on the screen and then it disappears. I am trying to bring the image over so that I can manually trace it. I don't want the utility to convert for me. This has worked in the past with x4, but since installing x5 I can't get an image on either version. I suspect video driver, but I have tried several of the drivers approved by Solidworks without success. Maybe I am missing a setting somewhere. Anyone else have a clue?
  6. We have a Biesse A3.30 CNC, which is basically a Pod & Rail machine, but with a convertible table for nesting. We have a Biesse post for Mastercam, but we are struggling a bit to utilize it for the different origins and aggregates that we have especially with c-axis programming. Is anyone out there familiar with this machine?
  7. Yep, I have dual monitors. I'll reinstall and see what happens. Thanks,
  8. Thanks Todd. Unfortunately, I've tried 2 of the latest certified drivers from solidworks and came up with the same results.
  9. I've tried 5 different drivers and get the same results everytime. Are there any particular settings that I can adjust?
  10. I recently reinstalled X3 on a new computer with a Quadro 1700 Video Card. I have not been able to get a scanned Raster image to stay on the screen so I can trace it manually. It will show up momentarily, then vanish when I scroll in or out. Is there some graphic setting that I need to adjust? I have the latest driver from the Solidworks site. Thanks,
  11. I use a free Open Source App called "Greenshot". You can capture any part of an image and add text/arrows/circles etc. Greenshot
  12. I've never gotten this to work yet. Snehal, what directory paths need to be altered to remedy this error msg?
  13. We're a Custom Cabinet and Millwork company and have been using Mastercam for 8 years now to program a custom built 2 head Router. We use CabinetVision for nesting cabinet parts and use Mastercam for all the custom stuff which Cabinetvision can't do. I'm not as knowledgeable as some of these guys here, but I still hack away at it making sawdust out of perfectly good wood!
  14. Since updating to X3 MU1 I have been getting "Invalid File Name" when I Post. I have the right Machine Type with the proper post selected. I can't seem to figure out why I get this message and then have to select the post again.
  15. I just tried using Engraving in MC Router X3 and I can't get it to work. I keep getting "Cannot create operation" errors. I've tried it on the simplest toolpaths and no go. Is there something I'm overlooking?
  16. I tried that Jay and it's still there. While I'm at it, is there a setting to change the raster image to just the actual image and not the background also? I do a lot of scanned images that are drawn on graph paper and in the v9 Raster to Vector Chook I never had the white graph paper/blue graph line background visible, but I do in the X3 version. I have tried flitering out the colors, but that doesn't do it either.
  17. When using Raster to Vector , is there a way to get rid of the Raster Image when you're finished tracing it? You could back out of it in V9, but it seems to stick around in X3 no matter what I do short of exiting MC and reopening the file. I should add that this is a scanned image.
  18. Hello Walt, We have 2 CNC Routers, a custom 2 head behemoth Flat Table and a Biesse Combo Flat Table/Pod & Rail Router. We program them with Mastercam, Cabinetvision and Biesseworks. I've only heard of the Flexicam, but hopefully someone here can be of assistance to you. Welcome.
  19. Finishing over an existing finish is not for the faint of heart. There are incompatibility issues that will come back to bite you if you try to cover one type of surface treatment with another that's chemically different. (i.e. Urethane over Lacquer or Water base over Enamel or any other of a number of combinations). There is also the issue of all those cleaners and wood treatments that have been used on the cabinets for years. The only real effective way to refinish your cabinets is to strip the existing finish off first and then resand the entire surface area. It's a lot of work, but if you want reliable results, it really is the only way to go.
  20. Are your cabinets already prefinished? In other words is there a lacquer or urethane finish over the stain? If that is the case , you will probably have to strip your cabinets first before restaining. It's a messy job and will still leave some residual stain, but since you are going darker, that shouldn't be a problem. If you are only going a shade or two darker you could do what is called "toning". This is where stain is added to the topcoat and sprayed on over the existing finish. Usually this would be best done by a professional.
  21. I think Mike is on the right track here. Using a larger bit and speeding up the feed rate would probably work better. Are you using the 1/4" bit because you want to optimize the material better or is there a limitation in the Router? We cut 3/4 plywood all the time with 3/8 and 1/2 compression (up/down shear) cutters at 600ipm/18,000rpm full cut with one pass.
