  1. Your welcome. Nope....I've hacked around on it quite a bit, but the bar stock feed pretty much came to us that way.
  2. Reading this reminded me of a joke I got the other day..... A group of Seniors was sitting around talking about all their ailments. "My arms have gotten so weak that I can hardly lift this cup of coffee," said one. "Yes, I know," said another. "My cataracts are so bad that I can hardly see my coffee cup." "I couldn't even punch out the chad at election time because my hands are so crippled," volunteered a third. "What? Speak up! What? I can't hear you!" asked the fourth. "I can't turn my head because of the arthritis in my neck," said a fifth, to which several nodded weakly in agreement. "My blood pressure pills make me so dizzy I can hardly walk!" exclaimed another. "I forget where I am and where I'm going," said another. "I guess that's the price we pay for getting old," winced an old man as he slowly shook his head. The others nodded in agreement. "Well, count your blessings," said one woman cheerfully. "Thank goodness we can all still drive."
  3. Solar, I had the same thing happen on two PC's. If you don't want to wait on a cd, you will have to uninstall mcam91 sp1 (backup the customized stuff first). After uninstalling, delete the whole mcam91 folder. Re-install, apply sp1, then apply sp2. Sounds like a lot of time involved, but it actually only took a few minutes to do on each machine. HTH Tom
  4. quote: In terms of "quality" I don't think you would consider Mastercam as bad software. If you did, you probably wouldn't be part of this forum to begin with. Don't think of Mastercam as "good quality" before a maintenance agreement and "bad quality" after the maintenance agreement Bullines, You are correct sir! I think Mastercam is the best customer oriented software application I have ever dealt with. It is also a million times better cam software than what we were previously using. When I started the job I'm in now, we had 17 seats of Intergraph's Modeling package. Including training, we spent over 1.5 million dollars for this - only to be told a couple of years later that they were not supporting it anymore. This is what led me to Mastercam; something that was mainstream, a proven track record, and one that I expect to be around a long time. I don't expect Mastecam's product releases to be any thing less than what we are getting now. What I was trying to convey, however, is that for those who may be thinking that you will be getting "better quality" releases after implementing a maintenance agreement, I think you are wrong. I think it will be status quo, which is plenty good enough for me!
  5. Scott Reiner said: // The fact that there is now a yearly maintenance available will force a release of good quality functionality on a more regular basis. // Scott, The key word in the above is "good quality". The problem that I often hear from the AutoDesk community concerning its subscription practices, is that Autodesk gets to thinking - Ok - we're getting their money we have GOT to get "something" out to them before the Annual renewal is due to make them think they are getting their money's worth. In doing so they get the same results - hurried, unproven code. [ 09-19-2003, 03:50 PM: Message edited by: Tom Vanderbilt ]
  6. Roger, Thank you! Exactly what I wanted to know. After you pointed out it's location, I can see that it was right before my eyes all along. Helloooo Tom, anybody home? Millman, sorry I was not able to follow through and furnish more info today. I had 61 PC's that had to have the latest security patches installed by quiting time.
  7. Roger, Thanks for the informative feedback, but where does it get it's value? Tom
  8. Thanks Millman, I suppose the post is a modified mplfan. It came from our dealer,so I don't know for sure, but I just looked at the mplfan, and it has identical code where the stck_chuk_st_x output is found. It is for a Monarch lathe. I will provide more info tomorrow while at work. (I'm looking at the mplfan post on the demo9 version at home) Tom
  9. In my lathe post, one of the post blocks that outputs the stck_chuk_st_x parameter is producing some odd-ball numbers. I've been trying to figure out where on the dialog box this value is coming from. I've called myself looking at all the things on the job-setup chuck params, but haven't got a clue. Thanks for any insight, Tom
  10. Try looking at the variable cc_pos. If the value is zero, comp is off. One is left. Two is right. HTH Tom
  11. Allen, I did attempt to use the monitor app, unfortunatly, the install program would not work, and since I had the same problem up front with the LMsetup executable, I just didn't feel like "fooling" with it. To explain, the LMsetup that comes on the 9.1 Mar 2003 CD would not run on my server. CNC had me to download a newer version from Aladdin's ftp site. It installed as expected. As you can see, I have not had a pleasant experience so far with the Aladdin, and the nethasp. Keith, I will try installing it somewhere else if push comes to shove, but I would really like to leave it where it is if possible. It just doesn't make sense to me that it would not be stable on a higher platform than w2k pro or win98. Just to add to that, I re-read the .doc file, and did not see anywhere in it not to install on a server class machine. My doc just says select a computer. Conversly I agree that it doesn't mention W2k server OS by name either. Anyway, I couldn't tell if your quote from the doc file was including a comment from you or not. And mine doesn't read like your quote. Thanks to both of you for taking the time to reply. Regards, Tom
  12. We just converted our mill and lathe seats over to a nethasp for flexibility, and we added two more mill licenses. (All V9.1 SP1 Lev3 w/solids) I installed the nethasp on a W2K server, running as a service. The problem we have ran into numerous times already, is that the license manager isn't releasing a license when one of the users closes MC. The only work around so far has been to stop and start the hasp service. Once you do that, all is well - but I don't want to be doing that 5 or 6 times a day. I spoke with the support folks at CNC and they seemed to think Aladdin has some more work to do. I just wanted to run this by everone here to get your thoughts/suggestions. Thanks, Tom
  13. Hello Everyone, I'm one of those 4077. Actually, I did make one post in August, 2002. We had Mastercam for nearly a year before we started trying to really use it. I know that's crazy, and it is a long story that I won't bore you with. Meanwhile I have poped in here quite often, and have read a lot of posts that helped prepare me for the initial conversion to Mastercam. We also have the tutorials that came with MC, books from In-House Solutions, and both of Charles Davis's books. In addition, we just recently brought in the Mastercam folks for a week of on sight training. Reading this forum, however, may be the best thing I have done. It is an incredible source of information; I thank you one and all for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Someday I hope to reach a level of competance that I can actually answer a few questions. 14. Hello All, So, which version/service pack/patch should I have for version 9, and how can I tell what SP etc is currently installed? Alt V shows Version 9 (May 6, 2002) The patches area on the web site is "more" than a little bit confusing to me.
