  1. Hi Arty What do you need help with? I'm using lathe here maybe once a week, but I can probably help you with some stuff. Chris
  2. Good Morning. This is the situation: I did a THREADMILL toolpath on mill8 for one of our horizontal mill centres and encountered a problem with using the T|C Planes option. I chose the 'Origin' by using a predetermined point in the geometery, and used the Front Toolplane. Afterwards when posting, i noticed that, (in the nc code), that the first position that the tool goes to is wrong. It is actually the point on the T/C plane that I've chosen. eg. GOO G90 G154 J3 "X-3.8677 Y-1.5006" S15000 M3 (this is the code that we use for our horizontal) After this line the proper x and y values are spit out eg. G43 Z3. H1 M8 "X-.1161" Y-1.5006 The "X-.1161" is the proper position for the tool to goto. I'm thinking that this is a post issue. Does anyone have any tips on how to fix this. Please keep in mind that I am using an old post (ver3 I think) that has been modified to suit our machines. Do I have to modify the old post to recognize the new "threadmill" opcode? Thanks in advance Chris DiNardo

    Laptop?

Sounds like I won't be installing Win Me then. I've been checking out the Dell product line. They seem to have what we are looking for. My only dilemma is whether to spend the the extra cash and add on the 256 SD RAM and a 32 meg video card. The old man here says money isn't the issue, ( but we'll see how his tune changes when he sees the final price!) Thank you for all your replies Chris DiNardo

    Laptop?

Sorry, another question. Would it be better to go with a PIII or celeron notebook?
  6. Good morning Everyone. I am considering getting a laptop computer at work to use Mastercam. The reason being that I would like to be mobile with it within the shop, (for emergency communications between machines and so forth) But also to get rid of the clutter on my desk. I was wondering if any of you out there have any suggestions on what package I should look into to do this. Thanks in advance Chris DiNardo
  7. Thanks again Dave it worked!. I just had to add that code that you gave me. I also had to replicate the code from the psetup subroutine into the ptlchg subroutine (n = prv_n + 10) IT WORKS GREAT ! How much do I owe you? Chris
  8. Thanks Dave I'll give that a try. Reply to chipmaker: The reason I (we) like to have the n numbers and comments on the setup sheet is for restarting purposes. When the operator can see which N number the tool starts at all heshe has to do is search for that N number in the control. the comments help them figure out exactly what the tool is doing at that point and if there are any changes to be made I can refer to the setup sheet as to where to begin.
  9. I have customized my Mill.set to post the following way. N10 T1 (1/2 4 FLUTE CARB ENDMILL) (ROUGH MILL OUTER CONTOUR) N20 T2 (1/2 DIA DRILL) (DRILL 12 DIA HOLES THRU) .....ETC. What I have problems with is getting the "N" numbers to be output sequentially by 10's. I only want the n numbers beside the tool description Here's an another example of what I'm actually getting {N10} T1 (1/2 4 FLUTE CARB ENDMILL) (ROUGH MILL OUTER CONTOUR) {N10} T2 (1/2 DIA DRILL) (DRILL 12 DIA HOLES THRU) Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the N numbers to be output as the first example? thanks in advance chris [This message has been edited by ChrisD (edited 11-02-2000).]
  10. I was wondering if someone could give me a rundown on how to create a custom tool library. I've tried a couple of times but it just won't save it.

    hello

Hi toby, Iwas playing around with the post yesterday, (it was an old post from version 3 or 4) and I was able to figure out a way to force the GON and GOF out put that I need. It was tricky trying to get it to output before and after z rapid moves. I just used mi6 to turn it on and off between operations. I'd like to know more about that dll file you were telling me about I can't find it anywhere in my directories. Thanks for your reply chris
  12. Dont worry about making the jump. Its been worth it for me. It's made my life a hell of alot easier ---especially with solids

    hello

I am new to this forum today. Im looking forward to getting some great tips on using Mastercam. Im using version 8 right now. I love it. I would love to hear from people who are using High speed Machining centers (matsuura with Yasnac controls) I could use some information on how you can get high speed output integrated into the post. Ive tried a couple of different ways but to no avail. PS Sorry about the topic name [This message has been edited by ChrisD (edited 10-04-2000).] [This message has been edited by ChrisD (edited 10-04-2000).]
