  1. wdg5555, if you manage to get it done, I'd certainly appreciate some pointers
  2. Ok, thanks all for the replies. This might be beyond my current post editing skill levels. Colin, thanks, you've given me somewhere to start.
  3. It seems I have a need for a warning message to come up when posting, to alert me that I am posting out toolpaths with different wcs's. This gets me most often when doing 5 axis positional work, although I have been known to do it on a 3 axis machine as well. So, say I'm posting 10 toolpaths, and I forget to check that all my wcs's are set correctly, I need the post to catch my error before the machine gets run (and crashed) Would this be a simple post mod, or would it be more involved? Thanks in advance!
  4. With me, if I edit the tool in Mastercam, it doesn't stick. If I edit the tool in the stand alone tool manger, then all is good.
  5. Well if that's the case, then that's not good. I find it much easier to load my work space when I'm helping out on someone else's computer, rather than trying to navigate through their customized interface. Yet more frustration...
  6. Hmmm, only just got round to trying this and nothing happens.. I'm trying to load a workspace as you did in X9.....Settings ->Load Workspace, so you can have different work spaces for different jobs, if you want. Can this be done in 2017? Sorry if this is a little off topic
  7. Thank you JParis! I wouldn't have thought to look there!
  8. Ok, I give up. How do you 'Load Workspace' in 2017??
  9. I store the machine center point of rotation in G59 and also in G54.1 P300 I then set up my job in G54 and run a program (mine is saved as prog #1 on the machine) O1() (CALCULATE WORKPIECE SETUP ERROR CORRECTION VCU4005X) (G54 - G54.1 P300 = G54.4 P1) (G54 B & C TO G54.4 P1) #5811=#5221-#75981 #5812=#5222-#75982 #5813=#5223-#75983 #5815=#5224 #5816=#5225 #5817=#5224 #5818=#5225 M30 This sets up your G54.4 P1 You could also change the M30 to an M99 and call the program from your posted program with a simple post mod (or just add the # lines to the post)
  10. Cool - been wanting a drill cycle to do this for a while now. Thanks for sharing!
  11. ok, thanks for your replies. I may just change The G81 to G82 as in my original post. From a newbie - the help and knowledge on this forum is much appreciated
  12. vortx - you may have a valid point but that part of the post was already like that (standard mpmaster) JParis (or anyone else) - how would I get it to trigger (and output G82 instead of G81) if I didn't want a dwell? I'd like it to trigger when I activate my custom drill parameters and no dwell.
  13. Could somebody please enlighten me as to where the mpmaster post switches output of a drill cycle from G81 to G82 when inputting a dwell? If you don't ask for a dwell, it outputs G81. If you do ask for a dwell, it outputs G82. I added a couple of custom drill paramters to output 'I' and 'J' for our Mazaks but they only work with G82. That means if I want to use them I have to ask for a dwell. pdrill$ #Canned Drill Cycle feed_overide_dist = drl_prm1$ feed_overide_percent = drl_prm2$ pdrlcommonb pcan1, pbld, n$, *sgdrlref, *sgdrill, pdrlxy, pfzout, pcout, pindexdrl, prdrlout, [if dwell$, *dwell$], *feed, feed_overide_dist, feed_overide_percent, strcantext, e$ pcom_movea I know I can get over this by changing the G81 to G82 (below), but the OCD in me doesn't want to do it that way # Canned drill cycle string select sg81 : "G81" #drill - no dwell sg81d : "G82" #drill - with dwell sg83 : "G83" #peck drill - no dwell sg83d : "G83" #peck drill - with dwell sg73 : "G73" #chip break - no dwell sg73d : "G73" #chip break - with dwell sg84 : "G84" #tap - right hand sg84d : "G74" #tap - left hand sg85 : "G85" #bore #1 - no dwell sg85d : "G89" #bore #1 - with dwell sg86 : "G86" #bore #2 - no dwell Thanks. ps. I'm quite new to post editing...
  14. This drove me nuts! I found the problem in configuration, under files, Mastercam current version parts. Make sure it points to a folder that is already there, otherwise it will create one.
  15. Really depends on the depth of cut. Any more than about 3" doc and the dynamic path is maybe better. Contour edges as normal either way.
