  1. Thanks James. I'll take a look at it on Monday.
  2. We have 2 Mori Seiki verticle mills with Tsudakoma rotary tables on them. I would like to modify the post to clamp the A in position (M10) and unclamp (M11)at the end of the tool sequence. So 2 questions come to mind. 1) what do I need to do to the post to accomplish this and 2)how do I keep the post from applying these clamping commands for the rare occasion when we use the A axis simotaniousley with other Axii. The post we are using is MPFAN that a former employee with the help of our local Mastercam rep. had modified for our machines. Using mill Ver. 8.1. I must admit that post tweaks are new to me, but I do know from reading here that it is good practice to copy the post and make changes rather than try and change the original post. I appreciate any help or comments my fellow mastercamers have to offer.
  3. It takes 4. One to hold the bulb and 3 to drink until the shop starts spinning.
  4. It actually takes 4. One to hold the bulb and 3 to drink until the shop starts spinning.
  5. I have taken my fair share of stuff from the FTP and have NEVER had a problem.
  6. I have finally achieved the goal of converting our Hitachi from inch to metric. Why do some things that seem so simple have to be so damn complicated. I have seen many machines that do that conversion with a simple parameter change but the Hitachi is not that simple.
  7. I always wanted one of those copters as a kid but times were tough. We were so poor rainbows were balck and white. I didn't have any friends growing up so I had to play with my brothers imaginary ones.
  8. I have got the machine into a metric mode. However the display is not in metric. I put an indicator on the machine and gave an MDI command of w-1.0 and see .0394" movement on the indicator. But the position display reads .1000 instead of 1.000 I would expect the display to read 3 decimal places rather than 4 like it is. If it did my .1000 display would read 1.000 Anybody got any suggestions.
  9. Yasnac LX-3 (Seiki Multi)
  10. We have a Hitachi Seiki HT-20SII lathe that we want to convert from inch to metric. I have looked in the parameter list for this machine and parameter #6001 bit 0 is to toggle between inch and metric values. I have changed the bit from a 1(inch) to a 0 (metric) but it appears there must be more involved than just this one step. The control still displays 4 decimal places rather than 3 places shown in the metric examples in the book. I do have a call (got voice mail)into our local rep but I expect it to be a while before I hear from him. I did power down and back up after changing the parameter setting.
  11. 57 and not a cloud to be seen. Starting to see some green in the lawns at lower elevations but not yet here at 8500 feet. Still small patches of snow on the ground but melting fast. Hoping to get in a few more snowboard trips before breaking out the golf clubs.
  12. James, Sounds like you know high people in low places.
  13. I have searched the forum for some advice but did not see anything relating to the issue i am having. I have a plastic part that i need to cut a 3/4-14 NPT. I used the c-hook thelix to create my tapered spiral and that looks good. I have a solid carbide 4 flute single point cutter to use for the thread. When i apply toolpath to the geometry the tool makes one 360° rotation and stops. The tool does not follow the geometry all the way up the spiral. Anyone got any suggestions ? Using V8.1
  14. Ball Point Pen In Space When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 billion developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside down, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 C. The Russians used a pencil. Enjoy paying your taxes - they're due again.
  15. Found a company in Colorado Springs that does Titanium anodizing. Took one of my parts down last Friday just to see the color options. He went ahead an did my part even though it was not yet completed. It will be polished and done again after polishing, but man does it look good.
  16. I have some Titanium parts that I want to have finished with some sort of coloring. Anybody have any experience with Titanium anodizing or other finish possibilities? Will powdercoat take to Titanium? Any other options available?
  17. If your going on vacation i'll tell you something funny, unpack half them clothes and take you twice the money.

  19. We often do length to diameter ratios of 15 or more with no tailstock or steady rest. Some of these diameters go as small as 2.5mm. We use a rawstock diameter big enough to give rigidity for the length we need and simply work it back in increments equal to 3 or 4 diameters. We have achieved very good results with this method.
  20. What's the difference between a rectal thermometer and an oral thermometer ?.......................................................................................The taste.
  21. I once got laid off on Friday the 13th but at least I don't suffer from Triskaidekaphobia.
  22. If it is a hydrostatic barfeeder and you do hook her up one word of caution. If you EVER run tubing make yourself a plug WITH an o-ring to fit inside the tube. Otherwise it won't take long for all the oil in the barfeeder to run through the tube and right into your coolant supply. Learned that the hard way many years ago. We had 5 Mori's in an aerospace shop I worked in. 3 SL-1s 1 SL-2 and an SL-3 all with Yasnac controls. I figure that in the 12 years i worked there these machines logged somewhere around 125,000 hours combined. Only had one service call in that time. We put way oil in and pulled chips out and held tenth's all day long.
  23. I don't call any of that 1/2 time crap music! It can't be crap without the "rap"
  24. ----------------------------------------------- Nawww.....NE going to kick a field goal in the last few seconds of the game and win by 2 ----------------------------------------------- Murlin, your prediction was off a little. But i must say that was one hell of a prediction.
