Looking at the data base, my spindle speed seems a bit on the low side, I've just done a search but can't seem to find it, but any got the formal for chip thining I can use in excel?
Hi everyone,
Haven't really done much dynamic milling, few jobs coming that it would be ideal on. I'm just after a starting point really for Speed and feeds. I'm usings a 12mm endmill doc 16mm. I have around 12000 rpm. Now I ran this last time with a feed of 2200 mm/min and spindle at 1900 rpm and 10% step over. now tbh these were a bit of a guess, and after seeing a few post regarding chip thining I want to get my head around it a bit more technically.
P.s. sorry it's metric
Regards.
Is it a dmu 50 evolution or the 3+2 version. We have 2 small dmu's and have had the bolts shear on the b axis clamps at least 4 times, one is currently down for this reason, and the machine is just over a year old. One thing to try that might keep you going is slow your feed down for the spatial/cycle 19 move. Do you get any errors at all? Or just the e stop?
the files on the FTP in mx5 files and its called rotary issue zip file. i did have another issue at first, where every time the machine would read C0 it would unwind rather than one contionus rotation, thats sorted and it was down to a machine parameter which wasnt reading M94.
Hi everyone,
Im after some advice, I’m machining a part that looks a bit like a nasa shuttle using a rotary 4th axis toolpath. Now when i back pot in mastercam it all looks good, even in verify it all looks fine and i get the results i want. Now when i post and run on the machine it seems nothing like. The wings of the part rotate into the shank of the tool, so the wings and the tool are parellel to each other which is causing a problem. Now in mastercam the wings go nowhere near the tool when performing the rotary moves.
The machine im using is a 5 axis DMG 50 Evolution
I cant see anywhere were im going wrong. Could this be a post issue?
Any advice would be much appreciated

ye i left clicked on in the tool bar area and x+ was not present. As soon as he starts the install errors come up staright away. we have to be doing something wrong
Gunther,
i have looked and X+ did not install. The I.T guy has the X+ setup.exe on the desktop and trying to run it from there. is this correct or does it need to be in the shared\mcam5 directory?
regards
hi,
Instead of starting another thread i thought i would post this here.
I downloaded x+ for mx 5 and got the I.T department to install it as we don’t have the permissions . he tried to install it and straight away it came up with errors in German? Any ideas on why it wont install?
I’m using mx5 mu1 is that makes a difference.

hi guys,
We have 3 5 axis dmgs and a 5 axis post for the machines. My problem is the machines don’t all run the same version of tnc530 as they were purchased at different times. Now 2 of the machines can use spatial plane output when it comes to 5 axis and the oldest one can only use cycle 19. Can this post be modified to output cycle 19 or would a new post be required.

Hi everyone,
I have a problem using the 5 axis curve. I don’t really do much full 5 axis work as we don’t often need to use it. In this instant I’m milling round a section of a sphere, now I’m getting the results I want by the looks of it but as it gets half way down the geometry it goes back up the geometry slightly and then carries on back down. Where as I want one continues flow. Where am I going wrong??
I have loaded a file on the ftp in mx5 called MC-5X CURVE.MX5 the tool will gouge at the end slightly as it not the correct tool as it probably will be a custom tool, I’m just trying to get the motion correct first.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
Regards
I know what you mean, I had that problem last week with comp in control and mastercam dint show it in back plot. I'll try using wear. Thanks for the help and advice!!
So what are the ads of using wear over control? So if I'm right when using contol you set your tool rad in the tool table to the rad of the cutter like we do at the moment. With wear u will set the tool table rad as 0 and adjust it for the wear of the tool? s
