  1. Hi Everyone, I need your help. Has anyone here ever used an ellipse ? This new part I am working on has one and I figured out how to draw it, but when I go to do a tool path it does not follow the arc. It makes a straight lines from point to point when I zoom up on it. Is there any way to make it follow the line? A=.71069 B=.14250, no angle. I have increased the number of points and that seems to help, but it is point to point and not one continuous arc or many little arcs and flats. Thanks for you help in advance! John King
  2. What type of work do you do? We mainly do work for the Truck industry. Motor parts such as compressors & turbine housings. What type of programming do you do? 2D milling and lathe work Do you run the machines also? Every once in a while I go out and run machines. I have been here over 30 years and sometimes there is a problem they need help with. How many machines do you keep going? We have 38 CNC mills & 43 CNC lathes and I help keep them all running. The only thing that kinda bugs me is that they all have different controllers. Simumerik, Fanuc OM to Fanuc 21i, Acramatic 850SX to Acramatic 2100 and OSP 5000L. Regards, John
  3. Hi Gary, My company is seriously looking into buying the Maintenance program and upgrading from Version 8.1 to 9.1 (SP2). I am just curious to know. Is there going to be a Pro-e converter build into Version 10? Regards, John
  4. Please correct me if I am wrong, but when you said Version "X" do you mean Version "10" or would it be the one between 9 and 10. Thanks, John
  5. I would like to thank everyone for their help. I found the problem in the MPCIN850, post line 902. It should be pfr and not *spdlon. Thanks Again! Best Regards, John King Modern Ind. 6. Good Morning! If you would be so kind. I need help with a post. I tried to contact my reseller, Manufacturing Concepts, but they have gone out of business. My trouble is with Post MPCIN850 on the canned cycle line it does not produce a feed command as you can see. If you could point me in the direction of where the post needs edited or an other company that would like to be our reseller that would be great! Thanks for your help! 7. Started here in 1972 and I have been here over 30 years. This is the only shop that I have worked in. Started as a floor sweeper, ran every machine in the shop and now I work in the office programming them.
  8. Started running machines in 1973 and I have been using Mastercam for 4 years. John
  9. Thanks for writing back! I was beginning to think no one loved me John
  10. Hi fellow Mastercam users, I hope that someone can point me in the right direction. I am looking into making impellers out of solid 304SS and one machine will be used for roughing out the stock. I am looking for a low profile indexer that will index at 22.5 degrees and hold on to a part that has a outside diameter of 5.50" and a bore of 3.46" by 2" thick. I want to be able to mill .236" wide grooves in the face of the part at 22.5 degree intervals using a 4" disc mill. The application would be mounted to a tombstone with 8 indexers mounted to it (Cincinnati Maxim 500) or on a stand alone straddle mill. If you think of anyone please have them contact me by phone or e-mail. Thank You! 12. Greetings fellow Mastercam Users! I have been using Mastercam since I started in the office about 3 years ago. We only have one seat that is bundled lathe level 1 and mill level 2 We also have 7 Mastercam users and one Hasp (that we have to share). Now my question: I was reading in the Mastercam ver. 9 readme file that if you bought the red network hasp you could do this: "The concept behind network licensing is that a group of Mastercam users who are all connected to the same network can run Mastercam from any station on that network without moving any software protection device between computers. Instead of requiring one HASP on each computer that will be used to run Mastercam, one NetHASP will be installed on any station on the network. That station will be referred to as the NetHASP server. It is not necessarily the network server." Now if I am reading this right, all I need to do to link up all of the users on the network is buy a nethasp. Is it really this easy? Or is there more to it? ---------------------------------------- John King Modern Industries, Inc. Web: http:// www.modernind.com Industrial Engineer
