  1. On the page that contains your tool information. Speeds and feeds etc, there is a check box that says "Force Tool Change" If you check that box it forces a "Null" tool change. When you post, it brings up the tool change info for each operation that it is checked even if they are using the same tool. Does this do what you are looking for? B
  2. Hi Rakesh I just saw that Streamingteacher has added some workshop videos on Machine and Control definitions. Looks like segment #'s 1014a through 1014h. I think that these have been updated for X3. Could this be what you were looking for? B
  3. I have X2 at the moment, It might be worth sending them an email asking if they were going to carry any of the work shop videos into X3. I would imagine that many of them would still be relevant. Try emailing [email protected] B
  4. Hi Rakesh Could it have been part of the workshop video series section on Streamingteacher.com If it was, the video segment numbers might be ws1006a and ws1006b Those 2 videos go much deeper into md/cd than video #6222 B
  5. For over a year now, Student subscriptions to Streamingteacher have been part of my class. I don't use it so much in the classroom, I still do my usual lectures and demos ... but my students would each have their own access. They would be able to access the videos 24/7 on their own time in order to suppliment or re-inforce my "in class" lectures and demos. I would also have weekly video assignments that they would need to view on their own time, then complete corresponding files to turn in for grading. It is a truly powerful teaching tool.
  6. I find that this sometimes happens to users if they are jumping back and forth on different computers with different configurations and ultimately different datapaths. Cheers B
  7. I have had many of my students use it and I have personally witnessed very positive results. I really became a believer when I tested it out on a couple individuals that were really struggling, kind of as a last resort. To my surprise, within a very short period of time, they were keeping pace with the rest of the group. I have been using it ever since. Most of my students are visual learners and basically having access to a lecture/demo for each topic, to watch as often as they needed, well the results were better than expected. Especially when it came to dealing with toolplanes and work offsets. One more powerful resource available to the Mastercam community. Thumbs Up Cheers B
  8. I have not played around with Art that much but I am pretty sure that the Streaming Teacher site has free training videos for Art. I think you have to click subscribe and create a login and password, but beyond that, as far as I know, there is no charge for the Art videos. I don’t know if it will cover the exact subject you’re looking for but we use the X2 channel in class and it has been well worth it. http://www.streamingteacher.com//C4_ART/art_home.aspx
  9. I have used the Cad2Cam CDs as well. I have also used the In-House books and the Mastercam Handbooks. I found them all to be excellent resources. As instructors, we are very fortunate to have such a variety of resources for the software we teach. Some of the deciding factors for us choosing Streaming Teacher were …. it was current with the latest release the amount of material keeps increasing and the educational pricing made it comparable. A large percentage of our students are from industry looking to upgrade their skills, so our labs are up to date with the most current release. As CNC Software distributed each Maintenance Release, it seemed that the streaming teacher site was already updated with material covering the new features. When we updated our computers to X2 … new video material was already available on the website and was relevant to the what my students were working with in the lab. Anyway, in using this in my last class, I was very impressed with the results that I saw in my students. Their scores proved it. Just wanted to pass it on
  10. quote: gepperta Member # 15857 I am an instructor new to MC and I have found the streamingteacher tutorials to be an efficient way to learn. I have just started using http://www.streamingteacher.com/ in class, as a supplement to my lectures, demonstrations, and assignments. For homework, I am assigning my students groups of video segments at a time, with a follow up quiz on the topics from each group. So far, into the third week of a class that meets 2 nights a week. 4 groups of video assignments (61 video segments to this point) and 3 quiz's so far. They are advancing much faster than any of my previous classes with improved quiz scores. The interesting thing is the level of questions have become much more advanced. Fewer repetitive questions on basic function usage and access, more on application. I am totally impressed. As far as cost, I contacted Streamingteacher and found out that when you order multiple user access for a class, the cost per student becomes very reasonable. So far, I am finding this to be a valuable teaching tool.
  11. While you’re in that menu, it might be a good idea to uncheck “Reset C-plane to Top in Iso G-view” as well. If that option is checked, and you are creating geometry and toolpaths in different C&T-planes around your model, your planes will reset to “Top” if you snap your model to the Isometric View. If you uncheck that option, your C&T-plane will stay as set.
  12. quote: “... are you left with nothing at the end” WOW ! .... How can anyone that has ever paid to attend a conference, or listen to a lecture, come away with “Nothing at the end”. Especially if they took notes! I have recently crossed paths with several users that subscribed to streamingteacher. They all seemed to regard each video as not only an example, but a lecture. All of them had very favorable comments. The most common that I heard included: .... videos not only show how to do something but why. .... They could stop rewind and replay sections of a video. .... They could practice along with the video. .... New Videos are added as the software changes. A big consideration for us choosing Mastercam, was the availability of support, and the variety of learning resources. Mastercam’s dominance in the community colleges in our area, access to user forums like this one, a variety of published books, CD’s, and now streaming videos, all of these factors made Mastercam the obvious choice. We all learn in different ways. There are those of us that can read the manuals, what’s new docs, the posts in this excellent forum, and from that, connect the dots as to how that info can apply to our jobs. There are also those that do better by seeing and hearing it. Streaming videos that can be accessed from anywhere with an internet connection ... plus the content grows with the software ... One more valuable link in this awesome support chain for how we do our jobs. After being exposed to information ... I could never feel like I was “left with nothing at the end”
  13. Quote: "As far as I'm aware, Mastercam cant do this. I'm curious on anyone's feedback who have used this feature in Edgecam, and if it is as good as they say it is." I am not familiar with Edgecam, however ... Have you tried "Mastercam Direct" for Solidworks? http://www.mastercam.com/Support/Downloads...mX/Default.aspx (They also have it for Inventor and Solidedge) I have used it on basic models, it installs a toolbar on the interface of Solidworks, when activated, it opens Mastercam from Solidworks, importing the model to Mastercam with solid history. I have heard that there may be some limitations at this point, but from what I have seen ... so far so good. Does this sound like what you were talking about? Cheers Bob
  14. I have heard from several people that have gained a lot from this site. http://www.streamingteacher.com/home/index.aspx It has steaming videos for both Version 9 and Version X You might give it a visit. Cheers Bob
  15. here is another option http://www.streamingteacher.com/home/index.aspx
