  1. Thanks for all the help I got the one side to work and have made some extensive trim changes. now I am trying to get the geometry mirrored to get the other side to work. I mirrored the Spline chain but MC crashes when processing ... so I am going to mirror the axis control surfaces and see what happens.
  2. John, Nope geometry created in SW2009 imported into MC SLDPRT to MC If I remember correctly. Solid body then I created surfs from solid faces.
  3. I have been working on it and got one toolpath to work and mirrored the geometry for the other side and MC has been crashing. I opened up the file I posted on the FTP and tried the break at point. And MC crashed again WTF !!! Where did you guys break the Spline ??
  4. just posted a ZipToGo file on the FTP in MCX_files RXVFRONTPROB.Z2G it is operations #6 and #8
  5. when I do a chain analysis it comes back one spline 62.3373 inches long sounds right.... is there any other way to check for gaps ??
  6. John Yes I tried moving the start point to the middle of the section it will not cut.. No change. Colin, I will give that try
  7. John it selects all as one... can it do that if it is not one piece ?? I have to share the Hasp with another programer when I get it back I can look again to see if there is a break.... I think that there is not
  8. I am trimming a part and I have a 5 axis curve toolpath. I have a single spline for the curve and 2 surfs for tool axis it cuts all around except for one side what is wrong that is causing this ??
  9. Dan Thanks for the reply. But I am trying to project Normal to the surface. I got it to work by first doing a 2D trim to bring it close. Or maybe change the entity ID ??? IDK but after that MC was able to project the curve onto the surface so I am back in business.
  10. I created a edge curve and offset it 0.050" away from the edge of the surface and now I want to "snap" the curve back normal to the surface. where it now would lay. My dealer and I did this with my file on his machine while on GotoMeeting, this AM but now he is at a on site training. and as luck would have it I can not get MC to do it on my computer. MC says no projections found. I tried closing and re opening MC still will not do it.

  13. here is a pic of the final cut made with the surface from solid.
  14. Gcode No both rough and finish from the SOLID were bad. Surfaces from solid face were GOOD. I refinished using the Surface from solid face and the surface cut proper. they look congruent on the screen but the solid cut further OUT and the surface cut IN where it should. kind of scary what if the solid cut the other way ???
  15. Ok guys here is what I found: first these were constant Z Rough and finish high speed toolpaths. No rapids just around and step down and around and down again... and again.... I was using a imported Solid ( .X_T ) from SW 2007 that did have some "issues" (faces sticking out like untrimmed surfaces) When I created Surfaces from Solid faces to do some pencil toolpaths they were cutting in to the finished surfaces. (from the solid) So I started thinking maybe the solid was creating a bad toolpath (too far out) So I used the surfaces that I created from the solid faces with standard contour surface finish and re cut the bad area and .......... All is good everything cleaned back up. only thing I can figure is that there was something wrong with the Solid ???
  16. No what I mean is that the roughing passes were actually below (inside) the drive surface. the general area inside the red is where it screwed up. seems simple enough ???
  17. The X3 MU1 High Speed Rest Rough gouged my part even with 0.050" stock to leave I was using a solid for starting stock (not a simple rectangular block). WTF !!! on an area about the size of my palm on a mold 32" x 37" x 14" tall. Is this a problem with the High speed toolpaths ?? Verify looked Great !!!! part ended up not so much.

  19. thanks Tyler.... It never hurts to have to many "go to" guys to be able to bounce questions off. thanks again Mike from KMT is doing a web demo on one of our parts tomorrow... that should help a lot.
  20. Tyler, Yes I have dome some customizing of posts... not a lot but some. Again to date all programs have been hand taught and may or may not be "Proper" this was one of the first 3 or 5 machines RPT built. We are having a web demo this Friday and the guy from KMT is going to help get the post tweaked and go though the full process. If I need some additional help I would like to be able to call on your expertise. thanks for your intrest in helping
