  1. Rick, They are better than Thermwood or Motinmaster and for $170K for 60" x 120" x 48" real cutting area. they are pretty dam good !!! what brand are you using ??? SAIPEM What I meant was that all "routers" are not built like a MACHINING CENTER AKA Machine Tool. yes they are driven by CNC but they are not built with cast iron and weigh 30 to 40K lbs.
  2. I also have a Quintax and I think your problem is that you are driving the machine too fast for moldmaking. My bridge is 48" and even though a quintax is many times stiffer than a thermwood or motinmaster, It is still 50 plus inches from the bridge rails to your tool tip... That is a long lever and the Z axis weighs about 400 lbs. also in corners you are getting chatter as the tool gets buried. spindle speed adjustments help. I usually run ours at about 80 to 120 IPM for finishing a mold. I have done many aluminum molds on ours as well you have to adjust speeds and feeds to get the finish you want. Just remember a Quintax is still not a machine tool... It is a router. that is much better than most. for comparison look at a VMC of the same work area and see how big and heavy it is.
  3. TCP is less than fun I will continue with G17 G18 G19 and using G15 to control the tool length offset axis. hand coding the required changes to make it work TCP will work for specific operations but not whole programs. FOR ME ANYWAY thanks all
  4. Nils Yes I got it to work with multiple use of the G15 to get the tool where I want it. I am now experimenting with TCP
  5. Bryan Thanks for the reply. I now have the files in X2 and I have tryied to turn off arc moves in the XZ and YZ planes and my post still outputs arc moves. you can get my Zip to go file of the FTP in the MX2 files dir. ERIC_G18_PITA.z2g
  6. Well the G15 worked on the front but not on the back plane. I will try some other ideas....
  7. I think that the G15 will work I found the syntax G15 (axis) or in my case I add a G15 Z after the G18 for the front arc moves I hope it works..
  8. Nils N I have put a zip to go file in the MX2 folder named ERIC_G18_PITA.Z2G Do you know how to use the G15 command? I will be back in the office at 0700 EDT tomorrow thanks
  9. just looked again in the xxxxor manual and it states that I can change the longitudinal axis with a G15 But the book does not show the syntax of using G15 (select longitudinal axis) anybody know how to use this function ???
  10. SC I have been thinking of TCP but Not sure if my post supports it. I will discuss with my dealer. Nils N I have not put a file on the FTP the machine is doing what it is told to do I guess ?? if I am in G17 then the tool length offset works in Z If I am in G18 or G19 then the tool length offset is ignored ?? because I am posting with a pivot length.... but my effective Z zero is not correct for this tool that is 3" shorter than the tool that is used to set Z zero ???? I do not know... But I have to get this working as I have 200 parts to cut with this problem.
  11. Thanks for the reply Robk No the xxxxor 8055M control does not have any "dot"+number G codes only integer G codes Nor does it have G45 or G46 The problem seams to be that I can not use the G43 (tool length comp) and G18 (Z-X plane) together and get Z to move to the proper compensated position. If I keep the machine in G17 until just before the G18 arc then I get a arc coordinates programed incorrectly error. (at the machine) If I am only using one tool and my Z zero is set to that tool than everything works OK but any time I have multiple tools at different lengths this problem comes up with arcs not on the XY plane.
  12. I have imported the file into X2 I have tried what I stated above it doesn't work anybody know how to get this to work with a xxxxor 8055M control ???
  13. I have a program that uses 4 diff tools all dif lengths... No problem calibrate and use tool length table and G43 to turn on length comp.. So far so good. Now my problem is that this is a five axis machine and if my current plane is not G17 (XY) then the G43 makes it try to cut way away from where it is supposed to.. Well my previous program for this part had only drill paths on the YZ and XZ planes so I could just simply take out the G18 or G19 and it would work. Now the customer wants a odd sized hole here and there so I am using a circular contour path. With the arc moves I can not take out the G18 or G19 planes. I do not want to add any more toolchanges. Is there a way in V9 to make G18 or G19 arc moves output as line segment moves. In other words I do not want G18 or G19 arc moves. OR can I turn off G43 length comp. in these operations then back on for the ones that work with G43 on. The code is posted using the pivot lengths of all tools. So the NC program calculates the required position not the control.
  14. KOMO just called back they said that the battery is dead. they are emailing procedure to reset the drive im off to RiteAid to get a 3V battery just installed last 7/18/06 KOMO said it lasts 1 year on toolchanger and 3 years on XY & Z
  15. we have a 1998 Fanuc ALPHA series servo amplifiier model A06B-6093-H151 and I think it is blinking an error code. It is on a KOMO 408 Innova we are getting a toolchanger not ready alarm. I look in the cabinet and the toolchanger amplifier is blinking U u 2 1 11 any ideas ??? got a call into KOMO no answer yet
  16. well guys what I had to do was to do a warm Restart by pressing SHIFT and then RESET. then I could drive it off the limit and luckily the control keeps the old ref positions so I just had to drive to ref zeros and record the machine zeros So I guess Kannon was right. I am happy that I could get my ref zero positions back. thanks all for your help
  17. I am hopeing (sp) not to have to power down as I did not write down my program zero coordinates for this part. I have hit the servo reset multiple times no luck
  18. I think I tried that Mark But no Go I will try that trick again but I think I did try that already thanks Is Wildcat99 around ??? I emailed him but no response yet
  19. Kannon I tried hitting the reset and the red bar of doom comes right back with extreme overtravel and I can't move it with either the hand wheel or the jog keys I also can not phisicaly push it either even though the other axis are not energised
  20. I've managed to run my x axis into hard over travel and can not get it to clear so I can move it off the limit. I was using the hand wheel to jog and ran it onto the limit switch is there a way to walk it off the limit ?? again this is a 2000 xxxxor 8055 M control
  21. Well this morning I tried to fix it myself by changing where it starts the pocket and change from climb to conventional milling to change the cut direction. IT WORKED !!!!!! this proves to me that it is a problem with how the KOMO handles ARC move mathmatics or Rounding of the decimal or somthing. But I am still worried that when I array 60 of these on a 4 x 8 sheet of stock that somewhere it will do it again.. So I still need to solve the problem by changing the arc parameters in the KOMO control. Anybody know about that this is a 1998 Innova 408 Mach One with the PC front end.
  22. still no luck and no answer from KOMO any body got any other ideas ????
  23. with lettering as islands it is a Triple Five Soul logo
