  1. Ok, just for a minute let's pretend that the media DOESN'T lie. Tell me how can you expect unbiased and objective reporting from a reporter that is riding in an American battlegroup? The group which he is with is responsible for his life, and also his information. I'm not saying that they are "lying", but the spin is natual and unequivicable. When most major networks are employing more generals and commanders than reporters, the medium is most certainly shaped by the messengers. The "concern" that Iraqi leadership is gleaning tactical information from the same CNN and FOX feeds that the American public is seeing is a laughable myth. Our leader ship is more concerned by the possiblity that if they knock the power out, Iraq can't watch T.V. quote: The line of tanks I'm riding with stretches as far and the eye can see, and I'm sure well over the horizon. This massive iron fist is closing in on Baghdad. I'd sure hate to be on the receiving end of this. What a fantastic conduit for broadcasting propaganda and fear! I'll admit it is a great idea for a subversive tactic; terrifing the enemy by broadcasting the overpowering display of might; but let's realize it is just that...and not legitamate journalism. Unfortunalty the same propaganda directed towards the foe is better assimilated by the American people than Iraqi leadership! I can hear your criticism now, the least of which might call me a skeptic and cynic. However, do you belive propaganda from the Haas salesman when he tells you that they make great, rigid machines? Of course not, we are doubtful of all salesman (I hope). He has his motives for the spin, and the government/media does for theirs. Well Rekd, for once I agree. I hope some can take your advise and not swallow what they're being fed ...you too . quote: We live in a very informative world. And if all you see is what's on TV then you need to get out more. There's a plethora of avenues for information, some to be trusted and some not. Use it.
  2. If your just looking for a "looks like" or proofing prototype, we like to use a polyurathane foam..Trade name is "last-a-foam". It is available in a number of different densities, depending on how much detail or surface finish you might be after. A good source is General Plastics, in Tacoma Washington.. phone 235-473-5000. They sent us some 12"x12"x6" samples for free. The major plus with this stuff is you can cut it as fast as your machine can run!
  3. Just the facts folks, just the facts.... quote: Television is the means by which most Americans get their ?news.? Without exception, every major network is owned by a huge conglomerate that has enormous conflicts of interest. Fox News Channel is owned by Rupert Murdoch, a right-wing Australian who already owns a significant portion of the world?s media. His network has close ties to the Republican Party, and among his ?fair and balanced? commentators is Newt Gingrich. Fox's founder and president, Roger Ailes, was for decades one of the savviest and most pugnacious Republican political operatives in Washington, a veteran of the Nixon and Reagan campaigns. Ailes is most famous for his role in crafting the elder Bush's media strategy in the bruising 1988 presidential race. http://www.fair.org/extra/0108/fox-main.html http://www.fair.org/extra/9711/gmg.html
  4. Thanks Jack! Don't worry, I havn't backed down, for now I'm reticent to the fact that the missles are in the air, and there is no pulling them back. As to the media, you hit the nail on the head. quote: A whopping 95% of everything we are reading and viewing on this very Friday is altered for effect by those in contro I should have stepped in with that sooner, for the media's spin is the kernal around which most have their opinions shaped...most importantly the opinions on how we came to these actions today. Asking questions and debating is the only way to dig to reveal real answers. Opening these questions has been my goal all along, and trying show how the pat responses too many American's swallow are not necessarily the truth we are led to beleive...
  5. I was questioning the program before the operator pressed cycle start...There is no "feed hold" button on the miltary actions that are underway, I'm smart enough to realize that...Just hoped that we had closer examined the backplot
  6. quote: OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yet another quality response....
  7. quote: Give up on cmr... He just don't get it! What a weak response to my valid questions..That statement only shows your lack of ability to provide legitimate answers to questions that pertain more to national security than the diversions we are being fed...
  8. One more time folks, who flew the planes into the WTC, Pentagon, and were headed for the white house? Not Iraq. Saddam does indeed need to be dealt with. However our own vulnerabilites should be our primary concern. We have come nowhere close to dealing with them.. The homeland security measures are a joke. Iraq is a distraction from down-home, homeland security. Our hatches are not secure and we are headed out into the tempest... I support the Iraq actions, but I argue that we are dealing with lower threats to homeland security first, while way too open and vulnerable to attack from proven attackers. Why did we not send 300,000 troops through the desert after Bin Laden, an attacker who has struck us?
  9. Contrary to what most of you think my political orientation is, I must clarify that I base my viewpoints from factual and objective analysis of what politicians/governments say and what they do. Believe it or not I have no anti-American sentiment, and quote: entirely support the men and women of the armed forces. I whole-heartedly commend the manner in which the "regime change" is being carried out. The tactical precision, respect for the citizens, and attitude that we are their to help and not annex. I support the continuity in what was planned and what is being executed. The issues that I was raising pre-engagement were directed at questioning the words, motives, and ajendas of our polital leaders. Blowing through the smoke screens which have historically been put up by all political leaders. Most importantly- holding politicians accountable for what they say and what they do, and factually what the truth is, not just what is said my the press, media, and government officials. Holding politicians to their words and questioning the presentation of their case is far more democratic than what I've seen from a variety of people- pushing foward with so much emotional zeal, furvor and fist-waving, that squasing honest opposition is considered "freedom". Very ironic. Yeah yeah yeah, I can here you all now: " are you with us or are you against us" What I was/am saying is that freedom is all about raising the questions. If someone truly represents freedom, than they can be comfortable with their viewpoints being questioned. As for the "protestors",I could'nt agree more. Some of them are so ridiculious and ill-informed that their causes become totally meaningless. They represent just as much ignorance as the flag wavers who blindly follow. Now that we are underway, the support and focus on the declared mission is crucial. The time to question weather or not to take action is past. Action is being taken. Focus on the task, complete it, and hope for the outcome that was prophecized.
  10. That is what I have been saying all day, we are being diverted from the true perpatrators of 9-11. Let's deal with those Saudi xxxx first, they've already proven their capabilities against our homeland. Iraq can barely send a missle outside of it's border... but Al Quada can fly our own missles into our landmarks. I feel like Bush cannot win the battle against proven terrorists, so he turns to shooting fish in a barrel and calls it national defense...
  11. WASHINGTON, March 19 ? A senior leader of Al Qaeda captured early this month in Pakistan has told interrogators that Osama bin Laden personally selected the targets for the Sept. 11 attacks and rejected plans for an even broader assault on prominent American buildings, officials said today. A classified government analysis circulated this week among counterterrorism officials said Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the captured Qaeda leader, has told interrogators that Mr. bin Laden gave Mohammed Atta, the leader of the Sept. 11 hijackers, "a list of targets." The document said it included the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, the United States Capitol, the White House, the Israeli Embassy in Washington and the Sears Tower in Chicago. That's in this mornings NY Times! http://www.nytimes.com/ Not to turn this into a politial forum, but it's good to be engaged in the world outside of our machines. Hopefully this one thread will contain the politics!
  12. Thanks for that dose of sanity Jack. And now that the bombs are falling and the wheels are in motion, I must say that I do support our men and women of the armed forces, for to not give them confidence in a situation that is beyond their control would be a sin. They are doing the job that was given to them. However, what I have been questioning all along is leaders, adjendas, and priorities. I mearly have been asking y'all to open your eyes to the other possiblities in this mess, and not just toe the line that the media and government is giving us...were all on the same side here. Debate and discussion made us the great country we are today! Keep up the discussion, and that is a very good and interesting link, G-code.
  13. quote: Under billary we had the WTC bombed in '93. Under billary we had Khobar Towers bombed in 98, we had 2 embassies bombed under billary, we had the USS Cole bombed under billary. Under Bush we have bombed the Taliban and Al-Qaeda. Any Questions ? Who was president under the BIG one, 9-11-01? quote: They brought it to our country... or were you asleep on 9/11? Who are "they", Iraq? Think again -Saudi's! quote: just as you are free to sit there in the "west" and throw out nasty little comments. How about these "freedom loving folks" comments: Redk: quote: I'm all for REMOVING any and all who oppose US Trevor: quote: As I said before, the US should shut the door on everyone that is not an American or bording neighbor. Shoot anyone that crosses our border univited and deport all protestors to the middle east ... You all are not seeing my point, and I'm not at all against using force....But for the love of God use force against those who are true threats to our nation. N.Korea, Al Quada. And once again people, WHO IN THE HELL DELIVERD 9-11 TO OUR DOORSTEP!! If we dismantle Iraq, will that stop Al Quada? Will that stop N. Korea?
  14. ...Bush's response to the economy: "We must eradicate weapons of mass destruction"..."oh, I mean we must change the regime of that horrible dictator in Iraq"... To do something good for our country, do it in our country! Help our own economy, dammit... Which he has only proved to dismantle. Here's another good topic, was your life better 5 years ago under Clinton, or better today under Bush? Can't wait to hear those replies!
  15. sorry for the formatting errors, but my "unconventional" browser, Opera 7 beta, Sometimes does'nt toe the party line either, Microsoft's!
  16. quote: OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys sure speak like true Americans! Attempting to squelch my free speech, just because I don't prescribe to your "American" beliefs? Your attitudes and ethnocentrism do more harm to our freedoms than my raising valid questions certainly does. Our country is founded upon freedom, right? QUOTE]As I said before, the US should shut the door on everyone that is not an American or bording neighbor. Shoot anyone that crosses our border univited and deport all protestors to the middle east Please show me thatamendment to the constitution. Your responses to this "discussion" and attitude is indicative of this situation as a whole. How come y'all can't see that those ways of dealing with problems is more un-American than any thing any of the protesters are doing? Where does your[/] rational fit in the charter for our beautiful country? It is COMPLETLY opposite to it.... For those who have rationally questioned me in this forum, I applaud you for your true Patriotism. As for you last two, your on your way to starting your own dictatorship....
  17. quote: Because of this, we have to police these "children" that are running around with the ability to do so much destruction Who flew three of our airplanes into three of our national landmarks? Iraqis? NO. We cannot find anything to link Iraq to those terrorists... However Bush has not/cannot dealt with the Saudi's, (of which all 19 hijackers were) Al Quada, Palestenians (spelling) or even simply Bin Laden, . Our actions in the midddle east are only strengthening the terrorist sentiments towards the U.S., of which no amount of military "policing" could possible ever eradicate or contain. This is not like containing Germany during WWII, terror is a mindset and determination that force will only make stronger. We are setting ourselves up for a saga bigger than we can imagine....
  18. quote: If we were to show the world EXACTLY what we know, this would compromise our intelligence gathering capabilities Why can't we even show enough measley evidence to get the world on our side??. .Russia, Germany, China, France, etc. The only countries that our with our program are the ones looking for handouts, in the form of U.S. aid. The other powers (Germany,China,Russia, etc.) which are economically stable and capable of their own intellignece gathering, have found no grounds for this war. Why is it that the Average Joe American can somehow justify the grounds for war, but theentire rest of the world powers cannot? Come on everyone, asking these questions and demanding answers intrinsically defines our freedom...blindly toeing the line our government line and swallowing what the media tells us does the a greater injustice to freedom than we are supposedly fighting. SHOW THE WORLD LIGITIMATE PROOF, AND I'll BE THE FIRST ON BOARD!
  19. For all the intellegence in this forum, I CANNOT beleive you all are letting this wool to be pulled over your eyes.....Please get some perspective.... North Korea is brazenly strutting it's nuclear capabilities, openly saying that within 1 year it will be fully capable of launching a nuclear attack. Talk about violations! Meanwhile we are chasing our tails around Iraq in a seach of "weapons of mass destruction", and have yet to produce ANY PROOF WHATSOEVER...unfounded speculations and inconclusive spy photos do not count as proof!!! Bush has NEVER shown ANY PROOF of these so called weapons. North Korea is openly telling the world it is in full production of "weapons of mass destruction". No proof needed there. If this truly is a war to protect the security of America, what the hell is Iraq's stone age army have that we cannot deal with? Meanwhile, N. Korea will be able to launch the proof right into our heartland. Now tell me, what is the bigger "threat to nation's security". Why the hell are we spending 500 million dollars a day in the middle east (that's 1 billion every two days), while 20 men can strut into our country with a couple thousand bucks, and cause more damage to our nation than we could ever fathom...9-11-2001...Please please tell me what in the hell 300,000 of our men and women overseas can do to prevent a reoccurence of that. All of our power and muscle, fistwaving and flagwaving, military industrial complex and "homeland security", will not prevent another 9-11. Our countries actions are only leading to more bloodshead...and it is most certainly going to be our own, terror retailiation. If Bush was truly concerned about the saftey of America, he would start by protecting our own soil, instead of taking other's. Unfortunatly this one is not going to end like all the Hollywood movies, where we American's with the biggest guns all live happily ever after....our cinematic fantasy is going to come crashing down, I'm afraid. thank's for the great forum y'all!
  20. The raster to vector converter is probably what your looking for...you can open those files, and just about any "graphically" supported file type. .tif,.jpg, etc.
  21. +1 Nvidia gforce 4ti 4200...win 2000pro.
  22. Howdy y'all... I'm trying to tap some m5 x .8 holes in a part that is in an english config file. What's the trick? Hopefully there is one! I vaguely remember a topic a while back about english to metric conversions, but I can't seem to track it down.. Thanks again for the great wealth of knowledge everyone!
  23. Hey there Dan, Were running a mini-mill here with DNC, and I recently set up our DNC system. The quickest thing to try is make sure that your in xon/xoff mode (setting # 14), and that your modem speeds are matched. If I recall, the mastercam communications sometimes defaults back to 19,200, while I have the mill set to 38,xxx. If that all checks out, probably the cable...I built my cable here, and found out the diagram that Haas gives you in the manual is inaccurate! Getting into the details here would be a bit lengthy without knowing your current set-up ...however here are the diagrams that I have successfully used on building our cable... http://www.dncsoftware.com/images/pinout.html If your still stuck, I'd be happy to chat more. Best of luck!
  24. Huh, good to know! There was a big discussion a while back on the merits of RAID, and if I recall we never came to a conclusion...now it sounds like you've got the evidence! http://www.emastercam.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...ic;f=1;t=004702 Please keep us posted, and also what is the set-up you are using (raid controller, drives, processor, etc)? Thanks for the info!
  25. WOW! What a great little c-hook! It's amazing how the simplest thing can just make your day...Thank you very much!
