  1. I got a new computer with windows 7 64 bit and tried installing X4. Everything installed but sometimes when I first start Mastercam I get the following error;

    quote:

    The program can't start because ntvdm.exe is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.

    If I click "ok" Mastercam runs fine. I did try a repair and also tried reinstalling... but the error still appears about every other time I start Mastercam. I did a search found there was a hotfix called x3-x64-hotfix.exe and even though I'm not running X3 I gave it a shot, but got an error that said;

    quote:

    Not enough storage is available to process this command.

    Then a second error;

    quote:

    Installation did not complete.

    Any ideas?

  2. In the Surface highspeed toolpaths you can use feed moves instead of rapid moves. With the feed moves, you get true point to point which will verify correctly. Also you can set those feed moves as fast as you want.

    For example in the surface highspeed toolpaths go to the Linking Parameter page and select either Minimum Vertical Retract or Minimum Distance and then click the Output feed move check box and fill in the feedrate you want.

  3. Interesting... that particular Mastercam dealer still has the PDF available for download. Maybe it's a marketing tactic... like the latest Iphone that was "lost" before its initial release...

  4. Yes filtering helps.

    Also my crashing problem can sometimes be remedied by doing the following;

    Running one toolpath and save the STL, then bring in that STL and run the second toolpath on it, and keep repeating...

    I hate jumping through hoops. Its just very time consuming... I guess its time for a new computer and maybe a X5 enhancement.

  5. There is a file on the FTP site called scallop height.xls - its in the Tools folder.

    It figures out the RA based on the cutter size and step over. There are two different methods to figure out the RA depending on what data you supply.

  6. I have the same issue. Also I can't use the turbo button since I was machining from the bottom WCS, and I get the following;

    quote:

    Warning

    TrueSolid turbo: 3-axis moves in top view only

    And I can't turn off "TrueSolid" because I use the verify to compare against a STL file. mad.gif

    Mic6 try turning off TrueSolid in the Verify options. Of course as I mentioned above there are some limitations in doing so, but it should be faster.

  7. I did a quick test... started V9 and shading was on. I looked at screen, configure, screen (tab) and "enable OpenGL drawing" was not selectable. I exited out of screen config... toggled off shading (Alt-S), then went back in to screen, config and now "enable OpenGL drawing" is selectable. When it is selectable, change your setting and save the config file.

  8. V9 hadhas analyze, dynamic just as X does - which works great.

    However in analyze, surface, curvature - it would shade the all the different radii different colors. You set the radius limits (minimum to maximum detectable radius) and through trial and error figure out the sizes. For example only shade radii from .01 to .025 - if nothing was shaded then reset the radius limits from .025 to .05 etc...
