I've used filters for ever.  Generally I don't have the faceting problem, the main reason I use it is to make the programs smaller and because it gives smoother tool motion.   I see here that everyone seems to have One Way Filtering off, I've always had it on, without really know what it changes, or why it should be on/off.  Anybody know what that setting does different?

I would like to know as well. Good question.

Dylan I feel like i should be paying you, great video. You're going above and beyond! The videos and the added presence on the forum from several of the Mastercam application engineers has really been a nice breath of fresh air. I'm continuing to learn a ton just by reading through the documentation and the videos

    Same here.

I can't remember all of them, I'm pretty sure there were at least 3 or 4 things that I liked & a couple others that I felt 'meh' about.

I'm out of contact with my 2022 seat until I get out of quarantine, but I know that being able to right click cut/copy/paste, in the various fields, was one of them. I haven't had the chance yet to spend a lot of time with it and of course now it'll be a couple of weeks until I get another chance.

    Thanks for the reply.

Bummer on the lock down. Hope you make it through alright.

did you reach out to the manufacturer? that would have been my very first place to look, looks like they have a contact us page https://www.chickworkholding.com/4dcgi/public/support/contact.shtml?CTUS=1?PATH=6000023&&_RND=24509_

Yes, if you follow the link there are files available for download. I did not see .stp files though. They would probably send you files you need if you ask them. I've done it in the past,.

    Good luck.

I don't know if this is okay to post. I didn't think of it. Sorry if I broke any rules. I will accept my lashes and move on.

  5. I installed the new release of Masterecam 2022 yesterday and the tool manager is giving me all kinds of grief.

First off I noticed the top window,(tools in my PART library), were only showing thread mills. So I opened the filter and thread mills were the only item selected. As I turned on more of the filtered tools my part library populated accordingly. I'm not an expert but I do not recall this happening in earlier versions. The filtering only affected the bottom window,(tool library).

    Am I missing something here?

Today I opened my part file went into the tool manager and EVERY time I unselect filtered tools it crashes. EVERY time. I tried this with a couple different 2022 part files and the same thing is happening.

Can anyone shed some light on what may be happening? I really need to move forward with my project.

I tried calling my reseller but they were not in the office yet. UGH!!

  6. Thank you all for the replies.

I do agree that if the pitch is not called out on a metric thread it shall be a course pitch. If other than course is required it shall be called out with the intended pitch.

I was told by my QA department, (after I had programmed the threads in question), that if a metric thread does not call out the pitch it shall be "1. (across the board)". Whaaaat?

I tried to explain otherwise to no avail. So, I did reach out to the customer, (QA was afraid to do it), and they returned with, " no pitch call out designates course pitch and sent a clip of a course pitch chart similar to the one I showed QA.

    Hens, 1.5, 1. and 1.75.

If there is something that we all agree to disagree on yes, ask the customer. But I was correct this time.😜 Okay, so maybe I just wanted vindication.

    Thanks again everyone!!!!!

Living in Europe, this is all standard for me.

M10 has a standard pitch of 1.5 mm, M6 has a pitch of 1 mm and M12 has a pitch of 1.75 mm.

If a customer wants a fine pitch thread (standard is coarse) then he or she should define it as M10x1

    The x1 defines the pich.

With you're call out M10-6h, the 6h defines the thread class. (6h is the standard thread class)

The link below, gives some information on the metric threads.

Thank you. That is my understanding as well.

  8. Greetings,

Lets say you have a blueprint that calls out a M10-6h thread. What pitch would this be? How do you know this?

    Okay what about M6-6h, M12-6h?

There is a reason for my questions. I shall share after I get some feedback.

Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge.

Look on Level 2 there is the Wireframe for the toolpath.

So I figured out how to unroll geometry I placed on the solid but when I unroll it, it doesn't match the geo on level 2. It has a very similar shape but much more narrow.

That is pretty cool. I'm assuming you created wireframe on the solid, then unwound it. How do you unwind it to a flat plane?

    Thanks for the share.

I'd like to know how that's done as well. ??

  11. I program marking requirements for a customer on 80% of the parts we manufacture for them including sequential serial numbers on some. I had been using the Mastercam Stick font, working in Drafting, Notes. I chose this not knowing any better at the time. It allowed me to have more control over the font attributes, (size, aspect ratio, character spacing, angle and plotted locations etc.) in the Properties page compared to Wireframe, Create Letters.

Well in 2021 that changed. The Stick type font was not the same as I was using. I no longer have the attributes dialog box in Drafting Notes, Properties to make adjustments in.

That was until this morning. I'm sorry if this is already known here, but I did not know this and neither did my reseller.

I found that the attributes dialog has also been in the in the Wireframe, Create Letters Advanced tab. "Note Text", (Duh). I honestly never even looked at his. Oh and I no longer need to use the "Break Into Lines" button to convert to geometry for tool paths using the Wireframe, Create Letters. I wish I would have found this before beginning to convert the thousands of characters and lines of text to a different font style all together. Fortunately, it has only been several parts that I have modified. Now I can easily revert back.

Again, my apologies if I am the last one to find this out, I'm still learning. Don't bash on me too bad. I just wanted to share in case anyone else was wondering like my reseller and I were.

    Good day,

  12. I watched some of the webinars in the CamInstructors Big Event. Thanks to everybody that was involved with putting this together. I hope they do it again.

Ron, thanks for your segment. Quite informative.

  13. I'm not sure if this is what you are looking to do but what I do in 2d Contour is, select the Enter on first depth cut only and the Exit on last depth cut in the Lead in Lead out page. Then on the Multi pass page check Multi Passes, in the Rough, enter 1 in the number box and 0.0 in the Spacing box. Do the same in the Finishing and I get a spring pass. This does appear to work in Ramp as well.

Sorry again if I am mistaken on what you are looking for.

  14. Greetings,

I paid for and completed the Mastercam University Multi Axis Course recently. Upon completion there was no "Graded" exam like the previous 4 courses that I paid for and completed.

I know during the ugly things that are happening in the world Mastercam is offering their MastercamU courses for free, which I think is amazing. These courses, I believe, offer a "Certificate of Completion" when you finish not a "Graded" certificate.

Does anyone know if this is the reason why I was not offered the graded exam at the end of my Multi Axis Course? Or, does the Multi Axis course not offer the graded exam?

My employer looks at the graded exams as a measure of learning, 80% or better on a exam is sometimes rewarded. I would like to be able explain why I don't have a graded certificate as proof of my accomplishment.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Is it called customer feedback program. It has created problems in the past.

I remember declining that when I started running 2021. Could it have been turned on in the background?

  16. Well I tried turning off the event logging and that didn't help. I don't know where or what the Share Experiences is so I have not tried that.

I will try moving the network folder to the local machine and see if that helps.

    Hey, thanks for the help!!

  17. Thanks for looking.

I just opened a new file drew a single line and analyzed the distance. Same thing. I selected the 1st end, lag 2-3 seconds then the window pops up  allowing me to select the 2nd end point.

I am working on the host machine with a network license

  18. Hi,

I am noticing that when I click on a item to open/activate it, example being Analyze Distance or something that needs to be chained, it takes several seconds for that window to pop up. It seems slow and very annoying.

I never noticed this before and am wondering if it could be a computer issue.  I don't know much about computer speeds and settings so if anyone has any ideas of what may be happening here I would welcome any support.

Here is what I found on my system: I have no idea what a lot of this means,

    Windows 10 Pro

Intel Xeon Bronze 3104 [email protected] 1.70GHz

    Memory: 32.0GB (31.7 GB usable)

64-bit Operating System, x64 based processor

    Nvidia K5000 graphics
