Crazy^Millman,
Thank you for that! I love this place.

Good morning,
I have not worked with programming sub programs in Mastercam yet. I had a part program that was too large for the machine memory so I manually broke it into subprograms for each tool. parts are running on a 2 pallet, Kitamura with a Yasnac I80 control. I found a example in the forum for a single op. similar to what I would like to do and kind of get the idea but could use some guidance in learning to create sub programs in Mastercam instead of having to do it manually. I was going to attach a sample of one of the programs I am currently running and the standard file. But apparently I am not permitted to upload the files?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does anyone know if this topic is covered in the MastercamU course(s)? I recently started classes.
Thank you,

John,
Thank you.

Is there a way to renumber tools in sequence after deleting a tool or tools from a saved library? Say I have 10 tools and I decide to omit tool 4, can I sequentially renumber tools 5-10, so that they follow number order, 4-9 without having to manually change each one?
Learning something new every day! Thanks everyone.

OK Jay,
I see the changes. Thank you again!

Ah, I will try that. Thank you. These forums are great.

I started working with X7 and when I run verify certain parts get a message stating, "Tool for operation #1 has undercuts! Please select from UBV->file->options->general->simulation engine = 5 axis in order to get correct results." What causes this and is there a way to set the default to 5 axis?
Thanks,

Jay,
Had you made changes to the file you posted or was that for MotorCityMinion to view?
Thank you both for the input. I will practice using your suggested methods.

Hello,
I was able to put in a little more time on this project. What I can't figure out is how to get the surface finish contour to clean up the top of the part. I am leaning quite a bit doing this but am stuck. Would someone mind taking a look and point me in the right direction?
Starting MastercamU this weekend, looking forward to it!
Thanks everyone.

Very good. Thank you.

Does the precision slide bar when set to highest accuracy represent what a finished part should look like when done as far as surface finishes?
-
Well I plugged away at it for a bit and this is what I came up with so far. Instead of trying to blend the radii with corner rounding tools, would it be pos. to finish them and fillets with a surface finish cycle in each position? I tried but do not have enough understanding of how these work. Trail and error! Wahoo.

Ok,
Here we go. This is the part(s). Have I done the WCS rotation correctly? I know that there are more fixture positions that need to be implemented.
-
I will try again 1st thing in the morning. Is there anything I need to know about attaching files that may spare everyone some wasted time?
-
I'm sorry,
I thought I attached the part. I went through the motions. What am I doing wrong?

This part was programmed using generic geometry placed around the solid-303ss material. It worked a year ago for the person that did it but I am told it turned out to be a very costly part, broken tools and extended cycle time. I was wondering if this part would lend itself to the dynamic milling cycles. Would one of you experts like to teach a rookie something new ? I have little experience using dynamic milling and surface machining but I see how powerful it can be. I don't know if this is the best way to approach this part, your opinions would be very helpful. I have not rotated the part to the next positions yet as I wanted to know if this will even work.
Your opinions are always appreciated,

Peter,
Thank you for the information.
Looks like I've got my work cut out for me but I am very interested in learning more. I have a starting point and will move forward from here.

I love it! That was it and, "problem solved"
-
Very nice. Thanks.

I have used it off and on for about a year now and I tell you what, its great for quick fixes and building tooling in a hurry. it also repairs dirty models quite well. I've had to fix several models from customers prior to machining them. I don't believe I could have done it without the software. For someone like me that is learning this stuff as I go, it's nice to work with. Loads parts to and from Mastercam with the click of a button.

Greetings,
I have a question regarding Active Reports setup sheets. When I print out the report I get a blank page between each good page. I must have something set wrong as far as the size. I don't have a lot of experience with modifications yet but working on it . At one point I did see an answer to my question here but I can not locate it now. Can someone lend a hand.
Thanks to all of you,
I learn something new from the forums every day.

Thank you all very much. I am sorry for not replying sooner but I have been very busy.
Peter,
That milling C-HOOK would make my life so much easier. The part is not too complicated, diameter changes, linear changes and yes there is a simple 120 degree surface that I am stepping down to rough it.
Would you be willing to share with me how these work? How to create? I am fairly new to Mastercam and am eager to learn everything I can.

Hello,
I have been programming a family of parts,(different dia.'s and linear locations), by importing a new solid into an existing file of a dif. size part, putting geometry to the new solid then reselecting the new geometry for each tool and regenerating the path. Is there a faster/easier way to do this. Can Mastercam do parametric programming to adjust for the different sizes. I understand that Solidworks will make the adjustments using, I think it's a matrix table, but I don't have Solidworks.
Can anyone suggest a better way of doing this? Any input will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,

Thank you Chris,
I did not mention this is a veretical mill. But I do a bit of Horizontal programming also. Thanks again.
