  1. I projected some curve geometry that was at a 30 degree angle and it turned the curves into splines. I've tried to simplify the splines but they do not convert back to geometry, (splines are red). I can put tool paths to them but the resulting code is really long. I still have a lot to learn and could use some help with this one. Any takers?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Greetings,

Does anyone know what it takes to have my code post G50 offsets with a J added for offsets after G59? Example: G54J2 G54J3 and so on. I did a quick search for topics on this but did not come up with anything. I contacted my reseller and have not heard back from them yet.

    Thanks,

  3. Chris,

I had the same issue but manipulated the surfaces afterward to fix it. Still it's frustrating when you follow course work and it does not give you the correct part. Also some of this course was recorded  using X5, running with X8 may be the difference.  ??

    Best of luck.

  4. Ah, I found what you were talking about Colin, I wasn't necessarily looking to change the setup sheet tool list, is that what you were referring to?

I did not realize the Tool List in the operations manager, (right click), was different from the tool list in the Tool paths, Tool Manager, etc.

Well I'll be, problem solved. Thanks again Colin

  5. Thank you for the input.

I really like the Dynamic cycles except for the corner thing. I have tried offsetting the first pass and reducing the feed at the start and that does seem to help.

One thing I fight the most with the Dynamic cycles is getting operators to trust it. They see the speed and feed and instantly avoid running the cycle or they "used" to slow everything down which would result in cruddy tool performance. Once they open their mind and try it, they are on board. Anyhow, thanks again. I love this place.

  6. Is there a way to control the amount of material the tool takes when rounding corners in the Dynamic mill tool paths? With the step over set to 12% the straights are fine but you can see that stock removal increases on the corners. Several times when holding thin parts the material pulled out of the jaws because the tool takes too much material when rounding corners. ??

  7. Thank you both for your replies. I am still learning Mastercam and C-Y machining. I respect the fact that I need to figure a lot of things out on my own but I am stuck on this one. I have a solid model and I am not sure how to put geometry in the grooves to drive the tool. I tried selecting the solid but it is not taking it. I don't want this done for me, a little help to get me headed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

  8. So I found out that the lollipop tool was the problem. The "shank" diameter can not be larger than the "shoulder" diameter. I changed my tool definition and it worked fine.

Does not give a true representation of the tool but it worked.

Just thought I'd throw it out there.
