  1. Thanks Rob, here is the part. I have never used mastercam to program 4th axis before. I know I am using a low end, out dated version of mastercam. X SP1 mill level 1. But will it work? ftp://www.mastercam-cadcam.com/Mastercam_...CX_Files/4X.MCX
  2. I recieved the file data today. I tried to use the rolldie c-hook with no success. I tried to up load the file to the ftp site but it wouldn't let me log in anonymously. If I had a username set up I forgot it. any help would be appreciated
  3. It is a unique curve. I am not sure of the arc types yet. it is to hold a wire typ heating element or thermal couple on a shaft. it is also undercut using a special o-ring type cutter so the wire will snap in. Thanks
  4. Thank you I will try as soon as the full data comes in
  5. I have to do something like an o-ring groove that helixes sort of. kind of strange looking.
  6. Does any one know if Mastercam X sp1 mill level 1 can run a rotary head? I was sure the sales man told us the 2d package would run one. When I click on the 4th axis icon in the drop down menu it say I need a differant version.
  7. I pretty much have nothing
  8. No template folder. Do you have to chage the lines over to hiden lines manualy for differant views?
  9. when I try I get File/open/mcx/design then the only folder is samples
  10. my version level might be a problem. I changed companies. now I am trying to use mastercam X SP1 mill level 1. that might be part of the problem.
  11. When I try that it says "Solids option not available. Contact your Mastercam dealer
  12. how do I get started? I do not have solids. my shop wants me to make blueprints of some parts I imported. I have never made prints with mastercam.
  13. Can you creat prints with title blocks and views with mastercam X?
  14. I have a mazak vmc that I am trying to program for the first time off line. I saved my program on a floppy and trying to load it into the machine. The machine can not see the program. It is posted as an eia file. How do I have to load the program? I spent over an hour on hold for mazak yesterday and never got thru. Thanks
  15. coolant leaking. it messed up the belt and spindle.
  16. Does any one have problems with the thru the spindal coolant. any real fix
  17. has any body seen this. is it actual or an oversees copy. http://cgi.ebay.com/Mastercam-Design-X2-CA...1QQcmdZViewItem
  18. Is there a way to change the default in the xform functions to move insted of copy yet?
  19. it is not the rapids but the actual cutting of areas the should not be cut. it is cutting air. it is mainly on the parting line edges.
  20. just cutting areas that it has no reason to cut. Or it might have a reason that I cant see them. "a ghost"
  21. I am working on a fairly simple plastic part. I am having trouble with the cutter cutting a lot of little ghost areas. There should be no reason to cut this but it still does in the finish shallow tool path. Also any advice on some different tool paths to try would be greatly appreciated. I posted the part on the ftp site. Mas106m600 ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/MC.../MAS106M600.MCX
  22. We use solidworks and Catia for the designs. Most everything we cut is a converted Solidworks file. Mastercam is designed as a toolpath software first then design second. Mastercam can do several things that solid works can’t do. Like converting solids to surface. You can draw surfaces with Mastercam. Some things just can’t be done in solids so the flexibility is nice. Mastercam is a very good software for toolpath. I think if you were looking for something better you would have to go with U.G. $$$$$$$$$$$.
  23. Depending on what your part looks like parallel might not be the best tool path. If your machine only will run 6000 rpm and 100ipm run it at that. I usually run a .010 step over with .25 ball. mastercam will do a scallope calculation for you also. You should be able to run the cutter at a minimum of 8000 rpm and 200 imp with a ball nose carbide inserted cutter. My machine spindle is 8000 max. I like to use the contour fallowed by the shallow. Sometimes the parallel is the best option but not at the corners. Post the file and someone will help out.
