  1. Thanks Perfecseal , it looks good I tried to copy what you did to do the other side but the cutter still wants to cut on the wrong side. I changed the norms still didn’t work. How did you get it to cut right?
  2. I am trying to cut a pocket that has a dovetail on the sides. I roughed the pocket. Now I am trying to cut the dovetail. It is not a nominal angle so I need to surface machine it. I posted it as dovetail.MC8 on the FTP. [ 04-23-2002, 08:52 AM: Message edited by: tooling ]
  3. Does any one know how to machine a dovetail surface. Mastercam wants to cut the wrong side [ 04-23-2002, 02:55 PM: Message edited by: tooling ]
  4. If you want this to continue in all of your new files. You need to change this in the screen/configure/nc settings/operation defaults/save/job setup.
  5. post your MC8 file some one might be able to see something you can't
  6. Sorry I misspoke. I was used to typing in a code in my machine. check that you have mirror selected not translate.
  7. check your post to make sure it is putting out the right code to inverse your cutter path. some machines take a M21,M22,M23,M24 to create that. my machine takes a (inv,x1,y1,z1) to mirror eveything and a (inv,x0,y0,z0) to cancel this
  8. check the fttp site. is this what you wanted to do
  9. James, I also have a vickers 2100 comtrol. I have been struggling a little with the post. how did you get M.C. to support peck tapping. What post are you using? mine is pritty good just a couple glitches.
  10. keep in mind that saw cutters have a tendency to flex and wander if you take too heavy of a cut. count on breaking a couple when testing feed and depth. and a scraped part
  11. are you using a carbide tiped and how many parts are you going to be making. I would start at 150 rpm with carbid and .05 depth at 4ipm. if you only have a few parts to run let the machinest make the minor adjustment then get back to you for future referance. run it slower if you are using a hss cutter
  12. the graphics card will make or brake you. make sure you are not running any other programs. 192mb of ram is ok if you are only runing MC. but it is low if things are running in the back ground. windows nt is a big +
  13. view the reply post for screen configure problem. remove the check in the assign tool numbers sequentially
  14. I had the same problem and called tech support. level 8 is very different. go to Screen/config. choose nc.settings tab. click on operation defaults.a box will come up for ops. just click save.the defaults box will come up. right click in the white area, choose job setup. a lot of settings can be saved in this area. there are a few other settings that have to be changed in a round about way.
