  1. Whoops, I did a search on space balls and I guess this issue has been discussed before. Sorry I will do searches before postin from now on. Thanks
  2. Does any one use a space ball over a mouse? Does anyone use both at the same time? Pro and Cons of a space ball over a mouse, or both together at same time?
  3. Hey guys I'm using V9 SP1, I have not been able to reproduce this error either. Maybe a one time hickup? I know I have alot of trouble bringing in Invetror 6 sat files into Master Cam. However this file I'm talking about is a very simple and small file? Sandybar

    A2 Steel

I'm fairly new at machining A2. Do you guys that machine A2 prefer inserts or solid carbide? I'm currently machining a big press die (hear it machining?) using Ingersoll grade 2030 inserts @250 sfm .004 chip per tooth and .1875 depth of cut. It seem to me the inserts only last about 2 hours and then I need to replace them. Is this normal? Sandybar
  5. I put the Sat file on Jays FTP sile under "Die Half.Sat" in the Solids detrectory for any one interseted in looking at this. Sandybar
  6. Alan, I will send this to my dealer and we will work it out. Thanks for your help Sandybar
  7. The file is 346 KB and imported from Inventer 6 converted into a Sat file. I did not bother with importing as a surface file since the geometry was very somple and straight forward. I have worked with 75 to 100 mb files with less problems Sandybar
  8. Alan, I have XP Pro and 2G of Ram. Should I set the paging file to 2.0G? Right now it is set for 2046 MB. Doesn't that transelate into 2.046G? Sandybar
  9. For no apparent reason I get this "modeler has run out of virtual memory. What do I need to do to get this error meassage form appearing. Thanks in advance Sandybar
  10. A little bit about my system first. I have a 2.4G dual Xeon processers running on XP pro. The problem I'm having is attaching a tool path to a complex surface. One example is using surfacefinishcontour and while it is "crunching out the numbers" often my Task Manager is responding one moment and not responding the next. Even though in the lower left corner of Master Cam the numbers are flashing about like crazy. Somtimes the numbers do not flash for awhile and I will go to the Task Manager to find out what is going on, and it is not responding and then like turning on a light it is reponding again. What is going on? I know that Master Cam does not support dual processors. I will use the dual set up while "cruching out the numbers" with one processor and running another application such as solid edge or AutoCad with the other processor. Has anyone encounetered this problem or is it my system doing this on it's own? Sandybar
  11. CadCam, I've contacted my dealer several times and will not come through. My boss is breathing down my neck and I need to pull somthing out of the hat. On the ftp site do I create my own directory? Or?...? Thanks in advance. Sandybar
  12. Can someone help me out with inventor 6 step files convert them into MC9 files for me. Our company is looking to by a seat for step transalation and would like to see if the converter actually works for Inventor 6 files. If all looks good we will buy the license for our company. I will post them on the ftp site if anyone is willing to do this. Thanks Sandybar
  13. CADCAM, At this time I cannot share any files do to sensitivity. I will try to save as a SAT 7 and import as Budgie suggested. Sandybar
  14. Dog Fartz, I have good luck with Step and Sats when the geometry is straight forward. But when the geometry is complex with lots of draft and radius it will not come into Master Cam clean. Sandy Bar
  15. MC9 does not have an convertor for Inventor 6 yet. It is my understanding that 9.1 will updated to tansalate Inventor 6 files. To date I've little success converting Inventor 6 files with the aid of Rhino, Desktop, and Inventor 5.3. I have saved as a SAT file from Inventor 6 imported into 5.3 in hopes that the Master Cam converter with go straight in. Also tried to save as a Step out of Inventor 6 and still no go. Has anyone encountered this problem and what did you do? Sandybar
  16. Well, I tried the inside to outside toolpath and it worked great. Charles your input was on target and now no more "bleeding stuck pigs" Sandybar
  17. This is my first post on this forum. So here goes. I'm tring out the new feature Trochidial Machining offer in version 9.0 I've encountered a situation on a suface machined part that when a full width cut is in operation it squeals like a bleeding pig. I would like to be able to trocoidal Machine this feature when involving a full with cut. I have little sucess in dealing with this feature to machining trochiodial cuts when encountering full with cuts. An I expecting to much or just not doing it right? Sandybar Sr Mold Maker Adec inc.
