  1. James, I did it just like you have it but will still not cancel out air blast with M59. Is there any special switch on the post block that looks for the variables?
  2. Okay gang, I hope that I have a very simple post question. I'm attempting to turn air on and off (M51 on and M59 off)I took the information from MPMaster.pst and modified the Coolant context. This is what I came up with. # Coolant M code selection sm09 M9 #Coolant Off sm08 M8 #Coolant Flood sm08_1 M51 #Coolant Mist sm08_2 M8 #Coolant Tool sm09_1 M59 #Coolant Mist Off scoolant #Target for string fstrsel sm09 coolant scoolant I will turn air on but will not turn it off. What is wrong with it? Thanks In Advance,
  3. I've only two hands so must be the right and left palm!
  4. Is this invention just another toy or is it a nesscessary tool to have? What are some of the great things to use it for. I'm thinking of purcahsing one for personal use. Are there any applications for a modern day shop?
  5. Using surface rough pocket and the High Speed cutter path once posted the feedrates established for plunge and feedrate are posted backwards. Feedrate is 450 and pluge is 150. when posted the plunge becomes 450ipm "OUCH" and the feedrate is 150ipm. I swapted the feedrate to 150 and the plunge rate 450 it posts out as feedrate 450 and plunge at 150. This does not happen in any other cutter path just high speed.
  6. Looking into it a litte more I found that using the High Speed cutter path vs. Constant Overlap Spiral it outputs much different. What is so different about the High Speed cutter path?
  7. Loaded 9.1.I'm using surface rough pocket operation. I have 900 ipm in the feed rate dialog box and 125.0 in the plunge dialog box. Using the helix in option I aske it to use the feed rate and no the plunge rate. Posted, the feed rate becomes 173.08 and the helix in becomes 900. I put in the feed rates and plunge rate as the same value and it still comes up 173.08 and 900.
  8. Chris, We have about 30 seats on Inventer 6 here. I have success converting simple models. When the model becomes complex ie. multiple fillets and radii blending together, the conversion becomes fragmented and sometimes corrupted geometry is the result. We did have to buy a seat of Cadfix to "repair" or models before coversion can be completed. If you are doing simple geometry Inventer will work great for you. If your geometry is complex then look at Pro E, Catia and most cases Rhino works well. I have been there so if you need more information e-mail me and I can give you examples.
  9. Dave, That did the trick. Thanks Gotta love this forum.
  10. Has anyone experieced an error comming up when using the Master Cam help file in 9.1? I get the error "Cannot find or load the file Inetwh32.dll. This file should be copied to C:WINDOWSSystem32 or a directory in your path." Its probably pretty simple to fix huh? Okay you computer geeks whats going on?
  11. James, I'm a moldmaker and I can shed some light on the "offshore" issue. I was a toolmaker for 10 years before becomming a moldmaker. I learned my trade from the "old school" where manuel machines were the norm. All due respect, I learned alot from my mentor and have alot of respect for him. Allthough we did not see eye to eye on many issues he instilled in me the the upmost importance to build quality molds that will give you maintance free operation. With my CNC background I was able to explain to him that a fast and accurate CNC mill will give you results beyound your wildest dreams. Well the response that I get from the "old school" is what its going to cost us 200-300k for a milling center. I just can't justify that kind of money when I can buy a 2 1/2 axis milling center for 30k. I can by ten of them for the price of one machine. When the "old school" finnally retired I got a new boss that understood that new technolgy is available and will need to invest to be able to compete with the offshore competion. Now I program and setup all day and do "lights out" all night. We now get 24 hours from our milling and sinkers machines with only an 8 hour investment for the employee. Doing lights out can be nerve racking not knowing that in the morning you will have a good part or not. But with experince you can predict the outcome. So all those whiners you will need to invest in technolgy in order to compete with the offshore guys, and there our mold shops doing just that. Keep in mind that offshore prices only last so long. Look at Japan, after WW II they were the cheap guys on the block and now look at them. I believe in another 5-8 years we will see the same from China. So those mold shops that are screaming foul play get on the bandwagon and show the world we can be competive with the best of them.
  12. Okay, seems like we are getting good vibes on the Milltronics. Anybody using one? What are the good points on it?
  13. Anybody out there using the Fadal or Haas Toolroom mill? We currently have 6 EZTrak mills and looking to puchase a 3 axis toolroom mill. We have a Maho and a Mori for our Mold making dept. So we were looking for a cheaper 3 axis that will achieve good accrucey. Any Pros and Cons to these two mills? Thanks
  14. This is becoming a O/T now. Jerimiah, where are you hosting this poker run? I live in Yamhill and ride the trask out my back yard. I've lived here all my life and rode the coast range for many years in my youth. Now my kids are riding and I finally broke down and bought a XR 400. now I can go break a leg or?
  15. Dont use 6061, instead use Cast Aluminum its alot cheaper.
  16. It depends if the part need to be functional or just to see what it looks like. Pattern Pine is cheap but it is not a good for fuctional. A billet of aluminum that size will cost about $300. I like aluminun for functionality. If that is to much go with Hot toll steel. It will cost about 150.00
  17. I don't think I was altering the Geometry in any way that I'm aware of. I will watch for that in the furure. Any thing else anybody can come up with?
  18. Help! Has anyone lost their NCI files for no apparent reason? I will be working on a rather large file 60 - 100 MB. And presto the NCI have big red X's in the NCI geometry colum. What can I do to solve this problem, it is happend several times to me. I will have to go in and reegen the whole program again and somtimes this is very time consumming. Version 9SP1, XP PRO, 2.4 Xeon, and 2 GB ram.
  19. Okay I get this debug error and says that I'm deleting when in fact I'm not! The error message says the following. DEBUG delete - operation (): cannot mark nci section for deletion. In the operation manager is says that I have an nci database but I cannot get it to do a back plot or anything. It appears that it is not event there. Whats going on?
