  1. I do not know if it was the company being cheap or the previos programmer not letting management know how important it was. I have it now, really makes things much easier. Jason
  2. I have a Shunk chuck on my HAAS SL-40. I love it. Makes changing out jaws really quick. Jason
  3. That looks to be a 4th axis only. I would like to have the entire trunion so I can make sure all of my fixtures and vises clear the craddle. Jason
  4. Before my company spent the money for the 5 axis post I would just rotate and copy for each plane that I was needing to machine in. Create a manual op before each opeation to put in my "A" & "B" rotations and "Z" clearance moves in.
  5. Can I ask a favor of someone with version "X". I only have v9 of mastercam and I can not open this file. /Mastercam_forum/MCX_Files/HAAS_TR310_TRUNION.zip Can someone convert it to an MC9 format. Thanks Jason
  6. The controller is just a hand held unit. That is a part that we like. We have a major problem with operator editing. Supervisor on the floor does not want to enforce no editing, so he is fine with this control option. For the flat cabinet work that we do, we have no operator notes in our current Komo programs either. I appreciate all the comments. Please keep them coming. Just trying to make the best choice for the company. Jason
  7. MultiCam 24k water cooled 16hp spindle. 2200 IMP rapids in "X". HSK 63 F tooling. Haas 15K air cooled spindle. 800 IPM rapids in "X". Cat 40 tooling. And the Haas is more money. This is just a few things. There is tool touch off that comes with the Multicam and some controller features that I also like. Just do not know about the reliability of the machine and how user friendly the controller is. We have 4 other Haas machines in the shop. So I know the control and there reliability. Just not sure hoe it will be production wise next to MultiCam.
  8. Just wondering if any of you guys are using the new helical rack Multicam routers? We are going to purchase 3 new routers for our shop. We are a plastic shop and that is all we cut. The choice right now is between Haas and Multicam both 5' X 10'. Do you guys have a preference and why. Right now I am leaning toward the Multicam. Jason
  9. I have a part in here ftp all NC Programs . The file is jasontemp. I need a surfacing toolpath with the least amount of moves possible in it. I am running this part on a KOMO router and with the post I have it will want to chop the feedrate down to almost nothing. The more straight lines I can get in the surfacing toolpath the faster the post will post out the feed rate. This is an old post. We had to have the post handle the look ahead because the machine is not capable of it. So every time the post sees another move it hard codes in slower feed rates. I want to run this part at 300 IPM. When I post out using a flowline toolpath the post is cutting the feedrate down to 40 IPM. This is going to kill me in production. I would appreciate any help that I can get. Jason
  10. OK. I see what I was doing wrong. I had modified the shank of one of my standard tools and saved it. I was then trying to transform the standard tool from the tip at Z0 to the face of the tool to Z0. I saved my standard tool in my library then pulled that geometry into a custom tool. I was then able to select the GEOMETRIC TOOL ORIENTATION IN TOP VIEW, and TOOL ORIENTATION IN TURRET to the face of the insert and the tip of the insert at X0 and Z0. Thank you guys for the help. I really appreciate it. Jason.
  11. Man I feel like an idiot. I still can not get it. CR what you have is what I am trying to achieve. I went into my custom tool and hit the draw tool, file save. Then opened up that MC9 file and transformed between points and moved the face of the insert to Z0. and then file, save. Went to do a threading tool path selected my custom tool and when I went into the parameters and hit draw tool it still shows it with the tip of the insert at Z0. What did I do wrong?
  12. Here is a link to the picture in the FTP site of what I am talking about. Threader Maybe this will help clairify what I am trying to do. I need to move Z0 of my tool from the intersect of the threader to the facce of the threader. Jason
  13. It is not at the face it is at the tip of the threading insert. How do I get it to the tip? Jason
  14. That is what I am trying to figure out. How do I set my tool up correctly in MasterCam?
  15. In version 9 how do you change a threading tool to be at Z0 at the face of the insert instead of the tip of the insert. We touch our threading tool off at the face of the tool not the tip. Jason
  16. They show different custom setup sheets that it will produce. All I want is the custom1. How do I get it to output it? Jason
  17. Yes everyone is using the same post.
  18. This is the problem. There are 3 programmers here and there computers post fine it is just mine that jumps of center.
  19. ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/MC9_files/jason.mc9 This is were I put the file. This problem occurs on operations 5, 6 & 7. What I am looking for is a parameter or switch somewhere that I have on or off creating my drill to jump off center. Jason
  20. When I post any program that has live tooling in the program my drilling cycles on center jump off center. Example G00G55X0Z0T0 N4 T0404 G97 S680 M03 G0 G54 X0. Z.25 G83 X.83 Z-2.5 R.1 Q.3 F.012 G00 G97 G55 X0. Z0. T0400 M05 M01 With the same post and I take the live tooling operation out, the code comes out on center. Any help? Jason
  21. I am using a rough canned turn cycle. Were are the parameters for the stock to leave on the final rough pass in Mastercam. I know about the one on the last page of the canned cycle but there is on some were else in Mastercam that leaves stock for the final rough pass that it takes after all the rough passes. (if that make sense)
  22. I was in the shop tonight. It was a hecktick night in here. I did find the switch in tool setup thank you. I am off tomorrow and going to days for good on Monday. I will still be posting on the board (lots of questions still) just at different times now. I have not sent that program off to Mastercam yet. I am hoping to get a lot of this stuff resolved in the next couple of weeks. We are finally going to be getting a real post in the next couple of weeks. We will be sending some sample code to a local post builder here in town and he is going to put together a post for us. Talk you you guys Monday Jason
  23. I am cutting a pipe thread from the chuck out. I am doing it on a HAAS SL40. I need the chuck to rotate clockwise for these treads. Jason
  24. How do you reverse the spindle in lathe for a threading cycle?
