  1. I am getting a radius error with some code on a od turn profile. Can you guys help me out with this? I am using a number 1 insert radius. I have .015 in cor comp, and 3 for the od turn profile. 2. Thanks for all the replys. This was a big help. Jason
  3. How do you do a multi lead thread in mill? I need to cut a 2 lead buttress thread in the mill. I do not see anywhere in Mastercam X2 that allows me multi leads. In lathe it gives you the option but I do not see it in the Mill.
  4. Kyle if I understand what you are saying I want the A axis positioning and the C axis full contouring. Colin we looked into the Haas but they will not put a Fanuc motor in for the 5 axis contouring.
  5. I have a YCM 102a vertical machining center. I need to put a 5 tilt rotary tables up there. What we bought was a Yuasa DMTRT220. It is just to darn big. With that up on the table and a standard 6" vise I only have about 4" from face of tool holder to top of hard jaw. That does me no good. I need to find a low profile 5 tilt rotary tables to put up on my table. Does anyone have anything like this that is not a full blown 5 axis machine? DMTRT 320 NSV 102A Jason
  6. Have a quick question for you guys. I have a Bridgeport Mill that I will have the head rotated at 45°.(spindle at 45° to table not perpendicular to the table) I will have the rotary table up on the table of the mill with the platter facing the operator facing parallel to the “X” axis. How do I find center of the rotary table? Jason
  7. I tend to think that it is machine error. I have my tools drawn and defined right on the money in MasterCam. I am going to be getting a new machining center in her end of the week. I will be doing some testing when it gets in. Thanks Jason
  8. I tried that and ended up with about .025 overcut.
  9. That is what I was going by. If I take The major from the minor that should be a pretty good guess? I am at .060 for this thread and about .003 or .004 in the controller. With a M10 X 1.0 I have .05 in for overcut to make a good size thread. My thought process was right maybe it is just my crappy machine. Jason
  10. I am not understanding how the over cut works with thread cutting. On a 1/4-20 thread I will countor the .201 hole. I will use the same .201 hole to run the thread mill off of. How much over cut should I use on this thread? I am using a single point Micro100 TM-140. Thanks Jason
  11. This is a registered bug with CNC. It mostly happens from what I can tell when you are using your own tool library. Mine was losing tools changing tool and duplicating. I registered it as a bug thru my local reseller. Jason I am running X2.
  12. G187 basically overrides SETTIINGS 85 & 191. You can also go in and play with SETTING 85 Max Corner Rounding, and 191 default smoothness and see what kinda changes they make. I did not see any difference in our part quality changing these settings. Jason
  13. What is the problem? Does the surface finish look like crap. If so there is not a lot that can be done. I had the HAAS factory tech up here Frday and Saturday to adress this issue on my GR510 and there is nothing that they were able to do. He did do some servo tunning and was able to get it a little bit better but not much. And I was only running 130 IPM. Jason
  14. I set it up in the last place I was at. I did not use any of the extras with it. I had 3 verticals and 1 lathe set up on the hub. I had no issues with the DNC package. Now the IT department that was another issue.
  15. I have three work stations that I want to configure all the same. What files do I need to copy to every machine? There are machine files, config files, tool libraries? Can I set them all on the network so everyone can pull from on directory? Thanks Jason
  16. The easiest way that I found to do it was to leave .005 Z .005 X. Copy pocket tool path and remove .005 Z .005 X and regen. I did not see a clean way to do it in 1 operation. Jason
  17. I am having an issue with mastercam. When I bring in a file mirror it about the “Y” axis place 2 dimensions on it, xform drag the geometry to the upper left hand corner of the screen, merge in another file repeat steps above, I start having problems. Sometimes when I am dragging just the geo it crashes other times it crashes when placing the DIMS on it. Error PIC Make the picture full size so you can see the error. Anyone else having these issues? Jason
  18. Where did you send your request? I am new to tabbing and brand new to X2 so I was not sure if it was me or if it was a bug. I will have as many as 50 or so parts up on the table so I do not really want to go in and manually edit the tool path. I think that for right now I will place them automatically then go in and move them. I think the lead in lead out looks funny because I have the ramp turned on. Thanks Jason
  19. Can someone take a look at the file tabbing.mcx on the ftp site in the X2 folder. When I place the tabs by manually by square point as the help file suggest it cuts of the last tab. Why? Jason
  20. I have a Dell Precision 390 with intel Core2 Duo 64bit machine. I did not install this patch before installing mastercam. Did I screw up. What do I need to do? vcredist_x86.exe was on the install disk but dated back a month before the one on the support website. Any help would be appreciated. Jason
  21. How many of you guys program and send it to the floor and never get to see it actually run? How many of you program what you run? I am in the first boat. We have so many new projects coming thru the shop, and I never know when that job I programmed will ever hit the floor that I do not get to watch the program run. Any thoughts either way? Jason
  22. Haas seems to be it's own beast in the C-axis world. I do not understand post processing very well so I had to pay for one. I have spent the last year or so slowly getting my post tweaked so there is zero editing going to the lathe. On top of that I have not had much luck getting the lathe to repeat. We have a SL40 and when trying to drill and counter bore a hole (.25 thru and .375 c/bore) they will be off to each other .020. I sure hope you have better luck tan I did. Jason
  23. We are getting a GR-510 in the shop. I was wondering if anyone is running a 4th axis on one yet? I know that a true mill would be a better solution but until we get one this is what I have to work with. How are you mounting it up on the table? How well is it working for you? I have some ideas for mounting just wondering how others are doing it. Jason
  24. Crazy^Millman this is why we eliminated all toolboxes from the shop. We had programs setup sheets and tooling in everyone’s tool boxes. We have a tool crib attendant at our facility. I have a single supplier that comes in and does inventory on all our tools. I setup a min-max on all tooling set him up with a blanket PO and he keeps all the tooling stock for us. Any tooling that we do not use as often the tool crib attendant will stock himself. The crib attendant will also inspect all incoming and outgoing tooling. This is not a perfect setup but it has worked well for us so far. Jason
  25. I would have to agree with the Mazatrol being the faster way to program. It is really quick and simple. Jason
