  1. Tried out a demo version of a competitive product that has an automated Tombstone creation function for Tombstone size (4,6,8 faces) and part origins for each face. Question: Is this something very difficult to do in a C-Hook and if not, what would be the first step in developing this C-Hook. I've programmed in Pascal, Fortran, Basic, Mastercam posts, a bit of Visual Basic and stuff like that. How hard is it to jump into C-Hook programming?
  2. For engraving purposes, take a look at the Engrave C-Hook. It uses 45 deg. cutters with the movement required for artwork lettering. This will be available with the Router product.
  3. You can get a post manual from your Mastercam reseller and check out the MP.hlp file in the C-Hook directory.
  4. Aspan software supplied with Morbidelli machines has a ASCII-->PGM converter which will import ASCII G-code and convert it for the CNC format.
  5. Sometimes, the good ol' fashion way can do fancy things. Just generate a "longhand" drill cycle using G0 and G1 moves and change your feed rate whenever and to whatever value you want. In the post you would have to change the variable "usecandrill : no " Just my 2%
  6. Try assigning an ALT key to the Cplane Save View function (ex.: ALT-K) When hitting the hotkey, it will automatically take you to the function
  7. Another option, Get the recipe for Pro/E to Mastercam IGES translation settings from your local reseller. Good for 3D work.
  8. Buy the Pro/MC converter from your local Mastercam reseller. Reads in native Pro/E files. Luc
  9. Try using "tloffno" and I would definately take a look at Daves MPMASTER post. Lots of little tricks and tools in there! Luc
  10. You should have a section like this: # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- # Format Statements - i=incr, n=nonmodal, l=leave ldg, t=leave trlg, d=delta # -------------------------------------------------------------------------- fs 1 +1^4 fs 2 +1^4n fs 3 3 0 fs 4 2 0n fs 5 4 1t fs 6 2 0ln fs 7 3 0ln fs 8 4 n fs 9 1.4 fs 10 1.4ln fs 11 +1.3ln fs 12 4 ln the number next to the "fs" is the format statement number.
  11. Probably using the NVidia card... Update to Detonator 3 driver from there web site, this should solve your problem. Luc
  12. On the shop floor, what do most of you use to protect your computer hardware from the harsh environnement. Any one particular model of enclosure being used? Home made or purchased standard? Thanks Luc
  13. When working on a post it oftens helps to know exactly what has been programmed in Mastercam and what is held in the Intermediate NC file (NCI). From then on, it's just a matter of Post Processing the info for formatting purposes. Said simply: is the post wrong or did I program it wrong in Mastercam!
Luc
  15. I'm looking for a post that will support the Alpha Lathe with a Harrison control. A list of codes supported would help a lot also. Ex.: #502, #503 ...
  16. Yikes, on my system, I had the 64Mb Radeon for about 2 weeks. Had to bring down graphics acceleration to 0 and system still had a tendancy to crash. I wouldn't touch that card if I were you! Luc
  17. First of all, always try receiving a program from the controller to the PC first. PC's are less fussy than controllers. At the same time you will notice if any special characters are being transmitted. Try another communication program that will allow better handshaking ... like Cimco Edit supplied with Mastercam. Try using the DTR/RTS switch. Is your cabling wired for hardware handshaking or are you using XON/XOFF? Try a % sign at the start of the program. Luc
  18. I would suggest to stay away from the ATI cards. We use an ASUS and a Matrox on our machines with good results. Do a search in this forum under "graphics card". Lot of info collected.
  19. Lot of new computers have bad com ports. Another thing you might try is the FIFO setting for the port on your new computer.
  20. Does anyone have a good method for transferring Artisan solid and/or surface files from Artisan to Mastercam? What type of exports are available in Artisan: x_t, SAT, VDA, IGES, STEP ??? Thanks
  21. I would like to invite all my customers speaking french to post their messages to this forum. Vous pouvez envoyer vos messages en français à ce forum de messagerie et je veillerai d'y répondre le plus adéquatement possible. Luc
