  1. Got in both 9.1 and a brand spankin' new Haas mini mill, did not want to leave the past few days! SOMEBODY SLAP ME!!!
  2. A quick look in V9 under drilling paths indicates you can do this under the drill parameters in the TP dialoge box, you just have to set it to "peck" first.
  3. you are 100% correct, Jack, in the law [torrah] god gives instuctions on how to cook, how not to cook, what not to cook together, et cettera. This is called Kosher. However, in this case i am using the slang definition of any thing in the norm or orthodox, as an example, we usualy get topics about weird tool paths and impossible operations and the latest little glitch in MC. Not kosher refers to this looser sniffling about how he should use his laser to better cut cheap venier for cheap furniture! out of curiosity, who's elad?
  4. thanks again, upon firther research I found that for some reason aluminum absorbs the wavelength emmited by CO2, rendering it uncuttable. These replies were especialy helpfull as I too am running a universal C-class.
  5. Kosher: meaning not "really" machining, not a man's* machining, no loud noises, rapidly moving spindels, and above all no g-code. This machine is direct plot, no actual thinking or skill goes into it's opperation. However, I can throw some lines up in MC and have my cheap stuff etched and/or cut through in 5 min with this, so I back slide from the kosher and use it [laser] when I get a case of the lazies. As allways I am amazed by the speed of replies on this and will try your advice come monday. I would like to thank you all for contributing toward my solution. *with appologies to Kathy
  6. acctually on my truck during the clinton years... "dr krevorkian for white house phisician"
  7. our economy would be fine if it was as easy to get a building permit as it is to get welfare. seen in the D-lot, pikes peak community college
  8. Ok, so I know it's not exatly kosher machining, but how would I best cut .05 hardwood venier on a 25watt laser plotter with out it catching on fire? Any responces would be greatly appreciated.
  9. the operators acctualy reporting their crashes and subsequent broken tooling, instead of just sliding pieces of EM under the table... (this could go on forever)
  10. are you plotting or hardcopying (printing)?
  11. don't know if this applies to your problem, but some operations have a "keep tool down" option that delivers what it appears you are looking for.
  12. it also relives you of those annoying miute horizontal cuts present in a paralel pocket, especialy usefull when you have a lot of little islands...
  13. hey dan, under screen, configure, screen, current configuration file. If memory serves there should be a configuration that allows you to do this.
  14. obsessed is just a term the lazy use to describe the dedicated
  15. did the cam on the colorado state VICA championship part (1st place [hell ya] ), thing looked like a cresent wrench upper and had some funky text contoured in the handel, done in butterboard, 2hrs from print to part.
  16. set line thickness in pixels before you send to the printer to avoid "the ghost print", I find that 4 pixels gives a good, crisp line, but you would probably want more if it was gonna get trashed.
  17. I do 90% of my work in butter board and I love the stuff! requires no coolant, cuts as fast as you can feed and wont chip! I have had bad luck with some cheaper, similar foamed epoxy type products, but actuall butter board is awsome!
  18. to take a step bakwards, I usualy find it as fast and conveinient to create a new arc, place it cocentric with the old one (placement-center)and trim!
  19. I built a 9" long cell phone mold negative out of all materials... pine wood!
  20. ok, i know this is a dumb question but i'm new at this! i've found that when i do faceing and some "high speed" poceting toolpaths in mc that the post will come back with radii too small to complete the path, while not difficult to find and edit (it usualy subtracts .0001 from correct radius) it is a headach to fix on the machine! If any of you know a way to prevent this either while in toolpaths or posting it would be of great boon to me. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
