  1. Were you a beta tester? Or is that your new job? John
  2. Isn't lathe awsome. You can program a part by hand in gcode and insert it. That being said. I guess there is nothing Mastercam lathe can't do... John
  3. Looks like they made the right call. John
  4. "Yes Mr. Sienfeld we have your reservation right here. We just don't have any cars left to rent to you." You take that number today and apply it to your lathe programming. Start now. Pile the parts on the bench over there and I will count how much more productive you are with that number. CNC software's ears are just painted on. John
  5. A lathe enhancement. Ha ha. That department has been closed for years. I think since Iscar introduced the groove/turn tool back in 2004. Lights are out and every one has gone home in there. I do remember asking my dealer for the change feed speed in part off back in v9. So you might see this request in X11. Keep that lathe maintenance pooring in. John Let's see if the lock feature works in the new forum...
  6. So if you paid maintanence for 10 years since V9 you got 4 new versions? John
  7. I really dont understand this forum. You cant complain about anything but you can call people names? Its not a forum. Its a club. If I post a couple thousand ^++1's can I call people names here? Think I should take another couple years off from this club. John
  8. I am not happy with my dealer but in the interest of not wanting to hijack another post I will try and refrain from complaining in this forum. I didn't intend for any of my posts to be a personel attack on any one person. Sorry if it seems that way to anyone. John
  9. And now for some current news from Cimdata. The worldwide five most rapidly-growing CAM software vendors on the basis of revenue received in 2009 as compared to 2008, were OPEN MIND Technologies, CG Tech, Delcam, DP Technology, and Dassault Systems. However, OPEN MIND Technologies was the only vendor to achieve positive growth as all other suppliers were either flat in revenues or experienced a decline in revenues. CIMdata is projecting that the five most rapidly-growing companies in 2010 will be C&G Systems as a result of a merger of Graphic Products Japan and Computer Engineering Inc., SolidCAM, Geometric Tech, DP Technology and OPEN MIND Technologies. It can be noted that OPEN MIND Technologies and DP Technology are the only two companies expected to be among the top five most rapidly-growing companies in both years.
  10. "2 seats cost more than one.. Its not rocket science.... and its not a plot to screw you" I don't want two seats. Just to upgrade mill without lathe and wire. The question was about adding lathe. I don't think most people understand the cost involved if you don't want to upgrade both products. It was never explained to me when I bought the software. Would anyone think it would cost more to debundle and upgrade mill to X4 than it will cost just to buy another seat? John John
  11. Believe it or not there is a cost to stop using it. Have you asked how much it will cost to take lathe off your hasp if you grow tired of it? John
  12. "Have him check out the smurfcam forum then have him check out this great forum. It should not require any more effort than that. " Do the amount of posts here speak to weak dealer support? Software work arounds? Bug report/fixes. Would a quiet forum mean software that works? John
  13. I would try it first and be real sure. You are going to get tired of maintanence for lathe real quick. Plus I would really think hard about buying a software because it will do what you want in the next version. Seems like it should do what you want now to buy it. John
  14. Be careful adding this on to your existing hasp. You will be stuck paying maintanence on it just to keep mill current. Then if you don't like it or out grow it you will be charged a large amount to have it removed from your hasp. Kind of like a bad cell phone plan. John
  15. It’s not about the cost of the post. It’s just frustrating that Mori has told me they have approved one for that machine and CNC has a copy I can get. I have been a customer since V8. We have purchased V8,V9,X,X2 all for lathe mill and wire. Now I am told I can’t have a copy or even buy a copy. We did demo X3. I took 4 guys out of the shop and drove an hour to the dealer for an update to X day. We were looking to take advantage of all the information in a new solidworks file. We were told because we didn’t have the solids package the easiest way for us to get geometry for the lathe and wire was to export a dxf from the solidworks drawing file. And just program from that profile. No sweat. What a huge leap forward from Version 9. We didn’t upgrade. Then we had a month with X4. Read all about being able to wire cut from solids… When 4:30 came on install day the install guy packed up and left. We didn’t have a clean post for lathe or mill to use. Was a mess. I tried forcing the guys to use X4 and just edit the code until we could get the problem sorted out. Call to get the guy back and he didn’t work there any more. By the time I got a new person on the problem the demo had expired. We didn’t upgrade. I grow more frustrated and tired of dealing with this company by the day. Al l I want is software that can easily cut parts and a solid post for each machine. Should that always be like pulling teeth? We are now looking at mill turn. Should I shop for a good post and buy a machine to suit? John
  16. Let me see if that works with our customers. I would like to sell you a spare punch for that die.... But we make better dies now. That die is 5 years old. You have to buy a whole new die. We wouldn't want you to use that die for a few old parts you may still have in production. John
  17. I can still buy training books for V9 on this website? But can't buy a post....Hmmmm John
  18. "There should be some people out there who can provide you with post support, even for V9. It also depends on what features you need supported. Sounds like you just need a 4 axis vertical mill post. This is pretty easy for someone experienced in post writing." I don't mind to pay if someone can help me out. The machine is coming this Friday. I was assured by the Mori dealer there was going to be no problem getting a post for this machine. There is Mastercam logo's all over the Mori website. So I didn't think there was going to be any problems. Now I have left it to the last minute only to find I am being left in the lurch by both Mori and Cnc Software. Seems like it's just keeps getting harder to deal with the good old companies. I just joind the Esprit team for our wire edm programming and as a customer I have access to the members only area. There are current posts there for all our wire edm's. Just there for the taking. All current and working. How refreshing. John
  19. We would likely be at X4 and happily using it if we didn't have to drag lathe and wire along on this hasp for all these years. John
  20. Just purchased a new Mori DuraVertical with fourth axis. Have x2 but still using V9 for a lot of things. All these years the typical answer for a post was "go ask your dealer". Well I did that and this was the response. "In regards to your request for the Mori Seki Post processor, please see the attached quote. Please note we can no longer provide any posts for Mastercam Version9 as it is no longer supported." Anybody want to sell me a copy of thiers or can anyone suggest another company who can help us out with this. John
  21. And then there is the poor wire edm guys. Nothing new at all since version 8. John
  22. That looks like a great toolpath. I am sure we would use it. We would have to update lathe mill and wire just to get this one toolpath. And then continue to pay maintanence on all three just for an updated mill toolpath. With such little improvements in solids selection for wire we have just purchased Esprit for our wire edms. No verify in lathe as we don't have the solids package. Was told it is coming in X5. Also just getting a lathe with live tools and sub spindle. John
  23. Our dealer installed X4 lathe mill and wire for us to evaluate. After careful consideration we will not be upgrading. Not worth the upgrade price from what we could see. Now is there an easy way to go back to X2. Seems X4 was installed over X2. John
  24. It just me who finds this funny as heck. There is even patches now for MasterCam learning DVD's. Can't even get those stable. Maybe the parts in the DVD were too complicated with too many operations. John
  25. We have lathe and wire bundled with mill so we have to update all three products. Really don't think this fair. I was quoted a crazy amount to debundle so I could pay maintenance for mill only. When I bundled it was in version 8 and there was no such thing as maintenance. How could I have known. That's how they get you. John
