Hey, i was rather surprised to see the art tab in the MR2 download. Is it supposed to be for viewing because i can't seem to do anything with it. I can open the sample files included but can make no changes to them or put toolpath to them. It seems to be just a teaser? Thanx,

I would like my V9 back. Sorry had to say that i just started switching to X and never like all the icon based software out there. Was really happy with the word based menus. It was really easy training co-workers how to use it. Now its more like hit the little picture 3 rowes from your right 2 rowes from the top that you can't even see because you don't wear your glasses you idiot! Allright that feels better. I am considering XP media edition. My laptop will be personal as well as company. I will be hopefully concentrating on learning C++ but also doing some level 3 mill work. Does anyone know any impact the media edition will present verses XP Pro? Thanks Chad

I'm looking at laptop for some time now also. Just can't make up my mind how much money to spend and how much power i need. Mine will be mostly used for C++ training and writing with some mastercam use also. I like to looks af the Dell M70 but not the price so much even with my company splitting the bill. I'm currently lookuing at a Sony, How does this sound? Pentium M 2GHZ 1GB DDR-SDRAM 533 MHZ NVIDIA Geforce G0 6400 supporting 128MB 15.4 WXGA with XBRITE 80GB hard Drive XP Pro How does the NVIDIA Geforce compare to the NVIDIA Quadro? Sorry, i guess i left some info out. I am following the sdk instructions for version 9.1. Using microsoft visual c++ 6.0. I don't believe it is a mastercam dialog box but to be honest i have no idea. I am just starting to learn this stuff(C-Hooks and C++ both).I think it is demonstating a regular dialog box. Thanks Chad Perkins

Well, i don't think i did to bad, after much studing of the shapes code and 1 day of debugging i made it through 19 arrors and 2 warnings . I've learned much though. My hook works good with the exception if my icons in the dialog box do not show up. What should i look at to fix this? Every thing seems to look fine. Thank You Chad Perkins

I would like to put together a program that will open the view manager (WCS) allow me to select a WCS close the view manager and based on which WCS selected turn off all levels and turn on a specific level (relative to which wcs is selected) the association between WCS and level to be on can be determined ahead of time in the program or maybe even customizable from running the program if possible. Can anyone confirm wheater this can be done? And what what type of programming is easiest to do it in? The scripting looks easy but don't know if it is possible. Please give me some advise at least. I'm easily taught and very willing to learn a new programming language. Currently have no computer programing other that posts and some ideas , read a few books, nothing to tie it all together. Does anyone have a way to reorganize the list so it is order by tool number. I have spent the long time on getting all the information i wanted and didn't even notice it wasn't in numerical order by tool number . Does anybody know anything about sending processing time to a network server or another computer on the network? I thought i remember some people talking about this a while ago using the batch utility but don't know how to unload the files to the network CPU. Please let me know anything you can remember.

Where have you people learned script and chook language?? I have taken several solid attempts at learning this but continuosly fallen asleep due to not understanding what i am reading in the books. Very discouraged with my skills at learning this but still trying like hell!! How long have you been working at this as well?? Any tips on good books or web sites or anything else would be greatly appreciated. I've been with Mastercam for some 7 or so years and can do some pretty good post editing and very comfortable machine programming. Need help with script and Chook. Been reading up on C++ and Windows script. Any advice?

Well Thanks for the input. I did realize this was a less then adequite pc for the application but i have used lesser computers and not seen this behavior. It is was something that was laying around not being used so we grabed it for training purposes. A good delete session and defrag seemed to help it now it is just slow.(As one would expect). Has anybody seen a lack of refresh on the screen when picks are made? I have recently seen a toshiba laptop (Celeron, 64 MB mem) that doesn't redraw the menu after picking on the toolpaths button and static lines from create-line-endpoints-sketch. All seem to redraw fine after F3 is pressed. I tried Altering hardware acceleration but it didn't change anything. Any Ideas?? Chad Perkins [email protected]

I've got a HSM700, Love it. Don't get alot of chances to do fancy work but i do have a lot of very critical work. We have the 5 axis add-on but don't get too much work for it. It was so cheap we couldn't resist buying it for those few jobs you really need it.Let us know how you like it.

I was wondering how some people are handling the storage of thier files. I have notived in the past year since i've been high speed machining my network drive has 7 Gig used up. I can't imagine what this will mean 10 years from know! We are not a small company but are not that large either. I'm considering changing a parameter in the sequence so that the toolpaths will require updating then saving it like that (unupdated). Does you people have any other solutions? I have a problem with a Dell PC with mastercam V8 and Draft. The Hardrive Needed replacement adn when we reloaded the software mastercam acts stangly know. When a line is drawn it does not show up untill a repaint is done. Has anybody seen this happen before??

Has anybody expierenced this? When I Alt-C to activate a C-Hook and the menu comes up. I select the Focus5ax.dll hook and select OK. Then nothing happens!! Does anyone have any experience cutting a helical gear. I have a surface model of one and can get a finish flowline using rotation over x axis, but i can not get a good roughing toolpath for this. On another note what can i expect for trying to get a 5 axis post? I have a tilting "B" axis(0-90 deg) and a rotating "C" axis (max 8000 to -8000 degrees) ------------------ Chad Perkins ABA-PGTinc.
